sticktothescript: (come to think of it)

[There are plenty of others that have already introduced themselves. Maybe it is just the idea of being fashionably late that prompts a certain angel to make his presence known. He makes it his business to get to know as many as he can without actually appearing. Admittedly he is just the tiniest bit upset over ending up here after what he just went through. Okay. Not a strong enough word, but he could go on and on about a certain annoying little worm that he would just love to crush with his bare hands.

And then that earthquake hit. That wasn't any of his concern. A little wrath here and there is good for everybody. He doubts many would agree with him. Not his concern. He doesn't even mind the digs he got here. At least somebody is being hospitable...even if it is about as pathetic and dingy as he can imagine. Not like he needs the place, but still. He finally switches on the device on his wrist and sighs heavily. He wears the usual annoyed expression.]

You know...the Dark Ages were fun and all, but a guy can only get so much entertainment out of this thing.

[Besides the earthquake. That was something. It could have done with more maiming. The idea of befriending anybody here besides the ones that he could probably tolerate is a bit nauseating. He'll pull through though. He always does. He will do what he has to.]

Observing on my own has already been a thing. Somebody want to fill me on? I feel like I can really get to know a place with a story or two. Don't be afraid to embellish. Oh, and I'm assuming there is no way out as much as I'd like to play the helpless idiot. As a few of you may know, that's not really my M.O.

What sort of story were you hoping for? Lovecraft, Grimm? We have a sea monster, so, given the lack of royalty around here, I'd say that puts us in Lovecraft territory. The scientists who observe and kidnap don't really do much to dissuade the mood.

[Meja quirks a smile, to show that had been a joke. Well, kind of. Lovecraft probably could have written an interesting story about all of this.]

I'm certain that someone who's been here longer could tell you more about them. But what I've heard is that there's a machine that's bringing us here. The machine is what the scientists are studying. Our arrival is an interesting bonus, if you will.

[She aims the comm at an outdoor camera.]

You've noticed the, ah, keen observation, I presume.

Whoever they are, the machine is... remarkable, I'll give them that. [The cameras in the bathrooms are less impressive, but she's just thankful she doesn't have to worry too much about that.] Being studied as a lab rat is far less remarkable. The scientists themselves must be rather intelligent, themselves, given the nature of the field keeping us in here.

I don't believe anyone knows. [Or if they do, they haven't told her.] And the buildings aren't very helpful, in that regard. It's a shame they seem to have removed most of what's up our sleeves.

Perhaps.

[Meja's a realist. She hopes that they'll all find something. But she's prepared for the possibility that they may need to take another option, in the end, whatever that may be.

This man's voice sounds familiar. She's not sure why. She's pretty sure they've never met before now.]

There isn't much to hide a clue with.

[There's a certain determination, there, which is a good quality. Meja approves of it more than the people who are seemingly doing all they can to move in and take root. She knows not everyone comes from a good place, but here? Captured? Meja isn't one to give up.]

I'm certain. They can't keep this up forever. Even the most powerful prisons in my world didn't last that long, in the scheme of things, when charged with such... diversified inmates, as it were.

You mean, back home? Or here?

[She considers.]

I haven't been all that nosy, in the Cape.

[Curiosity. Nosiness. It's close.]

Ah, I see. Well. There is a prison on Svartalfaheimr so deep underground that anyone who escapes will die before they can reach the surface. Many have tried. The Dwarves who built it were imprisoned inside to test its veracity. [She wrinkles her nose.

While she has many Dwarven friends, some of their Kings are beyond vile.]

And there is a rumor that a prison exists on Asgard for the terrible beasts that the gods cannot kill. But as only they are allowed inside, I cannot say if it's true or not. The Aesir and Vanir rarely imprison their own kind. And the Jotunn usually beat an offender to death. But the Aesir have, in the past, built mighty prisons for specific creatures. My friend, Fenrir, was once in such a prison.

Not in the Dwarven prison, no. They built one specifically on Midgard — Earth — for him.

[And the components of his prison had been some of the strangest she'd ever read. And seen, later.]

Whether he deserved it or not is a matter of opinion, I suppose. Fenrir was a child of Loki, and his release was foretold to herald Ragnarök — the end and rebirth of the world. The same was said of Loki's release from his own prison, but he opposed the prophecy by not releasing Fenrir after. Fenrir, during Ragnarök, was also foretold to kill Odin, which was why the Aesir were so afraid of him.

[Meja shrugs.]

I released him, instead, as was my granted right by the Queen of Asgard, and I convinced him to join my side instead of fulfilling that part of the prophecy.
