001 | Awkward Video
[He recognizes this place for what it is, at least: a lab. Between the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier and the temporary facility that had been built up around Mjolnir in New Mexico, he's seen enough of sterile environments like these to know what they are and what they're for, though he's mildly confused about the contents of this particular lab. The camera is jostled as he fumbles with the device bearing it, giving a blurry and crooked shot of the plans, both foreign and familiar, that fill the hydroponics lab.]
These runes...
[The camera is pointed at the floor as he leans in to examine one of the nearest plantbeds, where Nordic runes have been etched. It's held steady long enough to give the viewer a clear shot of his boots.]
Health and prosperity. Someone has cared for these.
[His voice is low, uncertain; the familiar etchings aren't enough to assuage the anger he feels at being dropped, somehow, into some unknown facility against his will. No mortal prison has ever been able to contain him for long, and this, he is certain, will be no different.
He turns the camera back on himself, but clearly lacks understanding of exactly how it works, as it's not only upside-down, but also zoomed in so close that all it projects is an extreme close-up of his right eye.]
I wish to know who dares to toy with me! Whatever game is being played here, I do not find it to be funny.

She isn't... entirely sure what to make of him.]
Hei hei, friend. I'm afraid our captors aren't going to talk to you. They don't talk to anyone.
[She bites her lower lip.]
And please be careful in there, we've put a lot of work into those plants.
Moderate success.]
They will answer to me, or sorely regret not doing so.
[He adjusts the camera slightly when he realizes he can see her entire face -- if he gives himself a little distance to look at the screen with more than just his right eye.]
These runes. They're yours?
That's right. [He'd recognized them?] Are they familiar to you?
I do. They appear to be of Asgard, or quite similar, at least.
[Asgard. Thor isn't the first person she's heard speak that name, and considering the last was Loki — well, she's suspicious. But his appearance doesn't suggest anything to Meja of her usual troublemakers in the Nine Realms. In fact...]
This may be a strange question, but are you an Aesir?
[Better apologetic than come off completely crazy. That's her motto.]
I am Thor, Son of Odin, Warrior-Prince of Asgard.
Huh.
Good job, Thor, you've successfully made Meja speechless for a long moment. She mentally wonders what she should call him. He's dead in her world. Died when she was a young girl. His brother sits on the throne. This isn't her Thor — he lacks the red hair she's seen in so many paintings on Asgard. And yet, she imagines she should act with a certain amount of respect. Lady Eir would be horrified if she didn't.
And Lady Ingibjörg, but she really doesn't care about her opinion.]
Well, my lord, you can rest assured that you're not in much danger at present. Our captors haven't shown their faces in a long while, and most of the residents here are not violent.
[If she sounds bemused, it's because she really never thought she would be talking to the Aesir whose place she was forced to take in Ragnarök.]
I assure you, I would not be in much danger regardless.
[There are few who can fell him, and though he is not as boastful as he was before his exile, some of the old Thor still remains. He has changed, but not lost himself.]
These walls cannot contain me for long. No prison can.
Meja swallows a chuckle, but a small grin cracks through her bemused expression. Apparently Aesir are the same in other worlds. What an odd comfort that is.]
I hope that's true. The sooner those get out who need to, the better.
[No shame in being hopeful that maybe the Prince of Asgard can bring something new to the table, right? Besides yelling?]
Generalløytnant Meja, Lightforged of Midgard, at your service.
[He'll have it no other way.]
Our captors know not who they tangle with. I will show them how very grave this mistake of theirs has been.
[That confidence, of course, means the fall will only be harder when he is met with failure -- but for now, that doesn't seem to be an option. Not much.]
Lady Meja. Though the circumstances are not favorable, it is an honor.
Thank you. Until such a time, there should be a room somewhere with your name on it.
[So maybe they do know who they're tangling with.]
They have the stones to play at hospitality. I wonder if perhaps they think they may fool one of their prisoners with such.
[He highly doubts it.]
Are you certain you do not mean jail cell, my lady?
[And that does not sit well with him. After all, no matter how comfortable they'd made Loki's cell beneath his father's palace, there was no denying what it was. A cage, a box meant to hold something dangerous and lock it away, deny freedom.]
Is there anything more you can tell me of this place?
There might be some familiar faces here for you, but the people here are from every corner of the known and unknown. You're likely to run into things you haven't heard of before.
[His exile to Midgard being the first incident that comes to mind.]
Perhaps you will clarify things for me, should the need arise?
If I am capable, my lord, I will try my best.
