001 | 2014!Castiel | [video / action] | Day 60

[Welcome to Cape Kore.

Right. One moment Castiel's head hits the rusty skeleton of a car hard enough to knock you out, bloody-thirsty Croatoans closing in on him with the clear intention to finally end him once and for all, and the next moment he wakes up... here. Could be he's dead and finally has his answer to the question 'where do angels go, actually?', even though he's just barely an angel anymore. Could be this is just dear old Lucifer's next big joke at his expense. What's worse then stuffing the walking husk of his rebellious brother into... whatever this is.

Yeah. Just his luck.

Bleeding from several gashes - none of them lethal, but all of them painful and annoying, as everything about humanity tends to be - Castiel is not inclined to move anytime soon. He's been tossed around by Croats, watched them tear apart everyone else, tense and on edge while waiting to see if he'd feel Dean dying before he was done for, too. No such peace to be had, of course.

So. Instead of blissful darkness, he's here, wherever here is, exactly. Castiel is sitting with his back against an alley wall, legs stretched out. The video clicks on quite by accident thanks to his insistent pressing of buttons - no idea what this thing is supposed to be, but then, technology has always eluded him. When the video flickers on, the Kore residents are treated to a familiar face, although it's much more scruffy, bruised and weary than that of the Castiel the residents should be familiar with. This Castiel has just been in the thick of battle with 'zombies', essentially, and it shows. The good news is that most of the blood on his face and his battered clothes isn't his own.

His smile seems maybe a little misplaced as he pushes himself to his feet - all his thanks go to the wall, it's doing a much better job than him at being stable and solid. The smile helps him bite through the pain and the shaking, though.]

I'm assuming this is... some sort of, uh, communication device, as it were. Hello. Whoever you are, you'll... have to forgive me for a lack of pleasantries.

[The camera wobbles. He needs both hands to check and ready his handgun, the sounds of which should be familiar to most who watch this video - the automatic rifle ran out of bullets long ago and suffered irreparable damage at the hands of a Croat or two. The one thing he wants above all else right now is to toss back a pill and slump back to the ground, let the chemicals wash away everything else. But then, Castiel's just got enough pride left not to roll over for whatever scheme this is. It's not the death Dean sent him to, and therefore he will not lie down and wait for it.]

Clue me in as to... what this is about, if you so please. I'm assuming my dear big brother's allowing himself an oh so uproariously funny jest... So why don't you, uh, let me in on the laughter, hm?

[ She's not really paying much attention honestly, lying on the couch and trying to ignore the headache pounding at her temples. Entirely unwelcome, she's debating whether or not the walk to the pharmacy in the centre of town is worth how bitterly frustrating she finds walking just about anyone, but it's cut short when she hears his voice.

Immediately she sits up, winces hard as the sudden movement sending blood rushing to her head - being a human seriously sucked - and she scrabbles for the communicator. That's Castiel, that's definitely Castiel and he's hurt oh God what's she supposed to do when she can't help him.

The voice though, it's slightly wrong. It's Castiel, no denying that but it sounds...different. When she flicks on the feed it's slightly more wary than it would have been initially, but no less laden with concerned. She is genuinely worried here, if a little confused.
]

What's happened to you? Tell me where you are and I'll come get you.

[ She might not be an angel, but she can clean a wound and offer a flat surface to lie on until he's regained some of his strength. Maybe Chuck and his newfound affinity for lightening bolts can help. Either way, she's already getting up to start the walk out. All she needs is a location. ]

[ He laughs, and she stops dead in her tracks. She's already halfway out the door, ready to rush to his aid, but that laugh. It hits her like a punch to the stomach, because whatever has happened to Cas, it has broken him. There's absolutely no denying that.

Still, onwards and upwards. Everyone else is laid to waste in this town, someone has to be there to pick up the shattered pieces and Anna has taken that on as her job, so she almost starts walking again. Except he's surprised to see her, and no. No, that's not fair, they can't have taken him and replaced him right under her nose with no one noticing. They can't have done that, right?
]

You'd think, but people around here have other ideas.

[ And because she's panicking so much, she reverts back. Gone are the wide eyes and shaken voice, and replacing them are the ever so smooth, blank gaze of the angel that she had once been. Just get him safe, she has to keep reminding herself of that. Just get him safe and then all the questions can be answered. ]

Give me a land mark. Something, anything to work with. I'll come get you and explain all of this.

[ She recognises enough to start moving, and not for the first time curses how incredibly slow walking is. Walking, and then jogging, and then she all but runs as best as she can, because there's a number of theories she has going and none of them point to good. Of course the most prevalent is that it's happened again, that she's let it happen to another sibling. Balthazar had disappeared and come back without memories, and now she just assumes that Castiel has too, and the thought is devastating. Just weeks ago they'd hugged, and now he won't remember a thing.

It takes longer than it should and when she turns the corner she's a little out of breath, but she pulls it together as she sees Castiel. The hardened, neutral expression softens almost instantly - she's losing her touch lately it seems, must be all the humanity. Clearing her throat lightly, she huddles her arms up, folding them over her chest a little as she walks down to him.
]

So how'd you go and end up like this then?

[ She's used to certain allowances that Castiel hadn't put up with as much back home, a touch here, a hand there, so she thinks little of it when she squats down next to him and peers slightly at the blood on his face. After a moment, the faint hints of a tense smile crack through, and she gestures idly at the gun in his hand. ]

I'd appreciate that thing pointed elsewhere. Little more fragile than normal, unfortunately. There's a pharmacy nearby, should have some things to get you in better shape.

[ It's...sort of a question? But not really. Mostly, it's just an instruction. Concern and stress gives way to some of the old Anna. General Anna. Garrison Leader Anna, if you squint. ]

[ There's something wrong and no one could miss it, but the problem is she can't quite figure out what. He can't be from their future, Castiel is years ahead and he's never mentioned Dean dying by Lucifer's hands. In fact, she's fairly certain that they won that battle, at least. Which begs the question, what exactly is he talking about now?

It's an important question, but not quite so important as the imminent problem of injuries, so she just resolves to ask it later. For the minute she just digs her teeth into her bottom lip and tries not to look like it aches when that empty smile directs itself towards her.
]

Well, come on then Kamikaze, lets get some patching up done.

[ It won't be a wonderful job - after all, Anna had to call in favours to get her own injuries fixed recently, but she'll take a hell of a lot more care when it comes to Castiel. So she doesn't really wait for him to answer, just ducks down enough to take hold of one of his hands and tug it around her neck. She's going to need some help from his side to get him up - turns out it might have been helpful if human!Anna had visited the gym a little more frequently. ]

[ As soon as she's convinced he's not going to go ahead and die on her she'll do just that, but as it is right now his weight is almost a godsend. She can offer a little in the way of assistance after all, but she's in no state to be physically carrying anyone. Her hand around his waist is careful but firm, and she doesn't waste any time in making a slow move towards the pharmacy. ]

Nice things? You could be waiting a while for those.

[ And then he asks that, and she falls rather abruptly silent. She swallows hard, and that tiny little bitter part inside of her that she tries so desperately to push past wants to say 'you mean after you stabbed me in the back?', but she doesn't. Instead she just grits her teeth slightly and keeps walking, taking a moment before answering him. ]

The same way you avoided your suicide mission. Stolen away here, no explanation, no feasible reason> There's...a lot of us, you should probably know that. Gabriel, Raphael and Lucifer. Balthazar, too.
