[Because he can't see Alec being anything but obnoxious toward Michael, and probably rather incautious, as well.]

[ Because Balthazar has made his feelings clear and snark or not, he doesn't ask Castiel to turn his back on the Winchesters or Meg. Just that means a lot to Castiel. ]

It shouldn't. Include me, I mean. Don't risk yourself for me, under any circumstances.

[ That's not an order that Castiel has any intention of following. He'd expect the same from the others, too, but he couldn't live with knowing that he let any of them get hurt when he could have stopped it. ]

Then don't do anything foolish.

[ He parrots Balthazar's own words back at him. ]

Oh, Cas. What does it matter, for me? [He shakes his head, quietly bitter.]

I can't watch any more brothers die.

Neither can I.

[ Maybe it's misplaced, but he does feel like he owes something to Balthazar for killing him. ]

I'm not losing you again. I don't want to lose any of you.

Then do whatever you can to keep the peace, between all of us. That's all I ask.

[ And he will. There's no edge of petulence here like there was with Michael and Raphael, because Balthazar doesn't treat him like a naughty child. ]

[Castiel drives Balthazar just as batty as he does some of the older angels, ultimately, but he loves and respects him too much to talk down to him. There's a brief, gusty sigh at that acquiescence, half relief, half resignation.]
