Video & Action ⊱ Day 142

[ When the feed begins, it focuses on the face of a young boy, barely that of a teenager. He takes a second to ensure that the phone is recording and, when he's certain it is, he breaks out into a small, pleased grin. ]

Ah! It does indeed function exactly like a Starkphone! Most excellent!

[ Then he tilts his head to the side, considering the phone and everything else along with it. He'd been told he was never to exist again. Total annihilation was required in order to save the lives of billions of people.

And this place? Well, it looks fairly existence-y to him. But he says none of that. Instead, he says this: ]

I've not heard of the lands of Cape Kore. In what realm to they hail? For, you see, I must return to Asgardia with great haste. I assure you, it is a matter of major importance that can not be ignored. So, if you could point me the way home, I would be most grateful.

Although, failing that, the internet would not go amiss. Is there no wi of fi here?

[Darcy just got here, but hey, at least she's not the only one that seems new. Not that the fact taht they bring kids here is that comforting either.]

Asgardia? As in, Asgard?

[She studies the face on the other end of the feed.]

Do you know Thor?

...No. [ Loki, you are like, 12. You shouldn't be speaking to Darcy as though she's younger than you are. ] As in, Asgardia.

[ But his eyes light up at the mention of Thor. ]

Aye! I know Thor -- he's my older brother! Do you know Thor, is he here?

[Darcy lets out a little snort at the sheer know-it-all in that response. Okay, okay. Asgardia.

Older brother? Darcy's eyebrows rise high. She didn't know Thor had another brother. Other than the crazy one. There's no way that a twelve year old would send a giant robot to smash a small New Mexico town to smithereens was there?

That answer wasn't as clear as she'd like for it to be. Still, he looked awfully happy to hear Thor's name for someone who wanted to kill him.]

Uh, yeah, I do. [Better to keep it vague for now.] I don't think he's here. I didn't know he had a younger brother. What's your name?

I am Loki. [ The grin on his face is only partially amused. ] Surely you've heard of me? I'm pretty notorious, you know.

[ Beings in all nine realms know who Loki is. Even people in Midgardian London have heard the name Loki. And so, there is no doubt in his mind that, if this lady knows Thor, than she must have heard of Loki. ]

As for you? What is your name?

You're Loki?

[There's no hiding the shock, surprise and complete dismay in her voice. He's got to be kidding, right?]

You almost killed me and my friends. You destroyed half of New York! You?

[ Loki looks completely taken back and bewildered with this response. It's genuine, if you can believe it. ]

What? [ He raises his hands in a symbol of surrender. ] I have done no such thing! I have never been to the new lands of York!

[It does look genuine enough, which is really confusing. Especially when Darcy had no idea that such a monster was - well - such a baby-faced monster.]

If it wasn't you, who was it?

I know not. I was unaware the new lands of York had been destroyed.

[ He pauses, putting a hand to his chin as he considers this. ]

Was it while the nine realms were aflame? Because Surtur was the one responsible for that.

Okay, little Shakespeare. [She still sounds doubtful, but unless he really has studied acting for years, there's no way that reaction is fake.

Wait, nine realms. She knows about that. Sort of.]

There weren't really flames. I mean, okay there were a couple, but we defeated that guy before... wait a minute. Aren't you supposed to be dead?

[Yeah, she distinctly remembers Thor saying Loki was dead. So now none of this makes any sense. She takes a deep breath.]

Can you just... promise you're not going to do any mass killing or blow anything up? Truce?

These flames of Surtur would be large and impossible to put out. Even Thor had trouble!

[ That's how you know when things are serious. When Thor has problems doing something very easily done by anyone. ]

I was. [ He was, in fact dead. But perhaps this lady is just a little bit behind everyone else, because he has been not-dead for a lot longer. ] But Thor brought me back. [ Much to the displeasement of, well, everyone. ]

Aye! [ He puts his hand over his heart. ] I solemnly swear that I, Loki Laufeyson, will not on on a mass killing spree or blow anything up.

[ At least, not intentionally. From what he heard, there are a lot of tempting buttons to push on scientific machines. ]

[God, but that whole hand over heart thing is kind of endearing. She tries to look more stern as she nods.]

Thank you. Now we can get down to business. You said Thor brought you back? As a kid?

[ He nods. ]

Aye! I was reincarnated, as a street kid in Paris. Thor was the one who found me and brought me back to Asgardia!

[She blinks. Once. Twice. And then she starts laughing.]

You're serious aren't you? So you're like magical Gavroche now?
