Well, now. Think I finally got the hang of this thing.

[He gives the camera an easy smile as he settles in, seated in the room he's claimed for himself with his feet up on the table, legs crossed. Perfectly at home, despite the cold and potentially sterile environment. Sure beats Purgatory, anyway.]

Wonderin' if there's anyone I can talk to about gettin' some grub in this place. Not tryin' to be a princess or anything, but I've got some special dietary needs. Would sure appreciate anyone who could lend a hand.

[That said--]

Now. [His smile fades just a little bit, gaze growing just a touch more serious. Somber never quite fit him, but this will do.] I hear some of you have been to a little place called Purgatory. Y'all should give me a ring, when you've got the time. We may just have some friends in common.

[Translation: Dean, get on the horn now.]

Not exactly the kind of news I was hopin' to be met with.

[Huh. Dean with a fault memory. No matter what's missing, that's problematic.

He may not be Castiel's biggest friend, but seeing as Dean's his only friend in the world these days? He can set that aside.]

What's goin' on around here, huh?

Dean and I have been here for a long time. Sometimes we go home with no memories of this place, but when we return here, we always remember it. We were stuck in a town for several months, but now we're here in this science building.

[ He frowns. Really, dealing with Benny isn't particularly helping his mood. ]

When did you get here?

Sounds screwy to me.

[A vast understatement, but he doesn't have much patience for Castiel, either -- and peppering the angel with questions he'll only answer painfully literally seem like a waste of time.]

Few days ago. Been getting my bearings.

It's very screwy.

[ He looks entirely serious about that. ]

Be wary of this place. Many of the things here hold supernatural curses.

[ Whether or not he actually likes Benny, Dean does, so he gets a fair warning about this place. ]

[That gets a brief snort of laughter in reply, at least. Cas' fumbling with certain turns of phrase never ceases to entertain.]

I'm wary of every place.

[No other choice, really. No matter where he goes, there's someone or something that wants to kill him. Price of being a vampire, he supposes.]

What kind of curses we talkin'?

It's taken memories multiple times, changed us all into different creatures, invaded our heads and our dreams and turned us on each other.

[ And he very much has come to see this place as its own entity with a mind of its own. ]

Sounds like fun for the whole family.

[Riiight.]

How long you been grounded here, then?

Months. Maybe half a year. Time is funny here.

[ He fights for a way to explain that better, but there aren't many things he can compare it to. ]

It's not like Purgatory. It's more that things happen that play with our ability to keep track of the time or people disappear, sometimes for weeks at a time, and none of us have managed to keep track of any of it enough to add it all together. I was one of the first to arrive along with Dean, but he hasn't remembered that far back for a long time.

Well that don't exactly bode well.

[Not like he doesn't technically have all the time in the world.]

Sam mentioned Dean's memory was gettin' spotty. [So to speak.] That's been goin' on awhile?

No. It's new.

[ He freezes. ]

It's mostly new. Back at the beginning, after we were here for a little while, he completely forgot this place and never got those memories back. It happened to Sam at least once, too. This time, he remembers this place, but not--He doesn't remember me.

[ What if, just like those other memories, these never come back? ]
