the Doctor | 001 | Day 36 | Audio
[There's knocking in a succession of four beats, then a pause, and it starts up again only on a different surface.]
She said my song is ending... Four knocks. Does it matter what surface? Wood? Glass? Solid mass such as plastic toy? Does it even matter?
[To say he wasn't paranoid about the prophecy spoken to him was an understatement, however ever since returning here, there was this nagging feeling in the back of his mind that wouldn't go away. The knocking... If he stayed in one place long enough, was alone long enough, he could hear it over and over.
And then he was finding himself thinking of the Time War more often than usual, and that was never good.]
Four knocks... Are they slow or rapid in succession? Does anyone hear them too, or just myself?

Don't be daft, no. But, I can hear them. Or at least think I do. Do you hear them? The knocking?
audio:
I don't hear knocking. Not extra, anyway. Not past what you're doing.

[There's an exasperated sigh as he rubbed his face in his hands and a muffled mumble.] I better not be cracking up.

[The Doctor switches on to the video and leans forward, slipping on his glasses for dramatic effect.]
[ audio ]
You... don't? Good. Brilliant! Say, who is this?
[He didn't know where she was in her timeline, so this would be walking a fine line.]

[ audio ]
Donna. And you, mystery knock-knock man?

So subconscious, how does one go about ending said hallucinations, assuming they are as such.

...John Smith.
[This wasn't going to go well.]

OH! I know you!
audio
You're not the most helpful, y'know that?
audio:
[That's ridiculous, given the Doctor has never been the one to believe karma and what not.] Has other strange things happened here? Do you know?
no subject
[He couldn't get trapped somewhere without some chaos happening, could he?]
[ audio ]
[Yes Donna! It's him! Your best mate! But unfortunately, he wasn't feeling very optimistic about this chat.]
no subject
[Which just made it more complicated.]

You were in my house. You're a friend of Gramps, right?
And you fight the pepper pots...
no subject
Yeah, everyone. Pretty much. Everyone I talked to. Been here- [ He sighs heavily. ] Like'a week, so I guess a li'l longer than that.
Re: audio:
[She'll just happily skip over the fact that she's seeing dead people from her past everywhere.]
I'm Bobbi. Bobbi Tomlinson.
[Oh, look. She's added a dishonest last name to her lie. Wonderful.]
audio
Technically, welllll, yes. So you can't say you've heard any of the knocks or.... Never mind.
audio:
Hm, I... happened to be on a bus too, but most likely unrelated. [Her accent was wrong, and the name was unfamiliar.]
I just need to figure out what I did the first time and repeat it.
no subject
So if you say 'everyone', what has been happening to you?
[ audio ]
The what...? Erm, right, your 'gramps'. Yup, that's me! Good ear on ya.
no subject
[ Give him one more second. ]
Like, seein' things. Hearin' 'em.
[ audio ]
... Small world, eh?
So... try not to get eaten by the wolves - there aren't as many as there were, but still, being chomped to death by giant dogs is so not a classy way to go.
Beware the pepper pots and the lava monsters too. OH and the rhino people. They're real creepy.
