[He'll be there in a few minutes, with no other warning, just sitting in her kitchen on a counter as if he lives there. If she's in the kitchen this might come as a shock. If she's not - well, it still might.]

[Perplexed by what she conceives to be the abrupt end to the conversation, Mina shrugs it off. Perhaps Carter is the better option after all.

She grabs her fedora, plopping it on her head at a jaunty angle, and walks down the stairs where she stops short in the doorway to the kitchen.

A striking woman, wearing a three piece suit, tie, and startled expression, she quickly pulls herself together, raising an eyebrow.]

I don't seem to recall that being on the menu.

[She smiles slowly, taking a few swaggering steps into the room, hands clasped behind her back.]

[He smirks, making absolutely no attempt to hide his smugness at her surprise.]

[She approaches the counter, giving him an obvious once-over.]

And here I expected you to be wearing armor.

You picked the Arthurian name, sugar, not me. Sorry to disappoint, but chain mail's role in my wardrobe is comparatively minor.

[He stays put, seemingly unfazed by her approach. Up here on the counter he's almost as tall as other people!]

That gonna be a problem? Hope you didn't have fighting off Saxons on the agenda.

[She takes off her hat, holding it over her heart with one hand.]

Must be my lucky day. What I was thinking, was that back in the ol' days, before folks had money and sparkly rings, they'd use some kind of a barter system. I don't mean carrots for potatoes - personally, I'm not planning on us being here long enough for my vegetables to grow as large as empires, or even at all. Call it an exchange of favours. Nothing big, of course. Like I said, I'm cheap.
