[Mina's sitting at a desk of some kind, leaned back, feet propped up and crossed at the ankles. She has a relaxed air, despite putting ample amounts of willpower into ensuring that her image comes through on the feed.

For a moment, she plays with the earring in her right ear (she doesn't wear on in the left), her tongue running over the tips of her teeth.]

Well. Now that we've made it through this sensational ordeal of seeing life through each other's eyes, embracing our differences, and coming together with a good, old-fashioned sense of community. Or whatever it is we did. I suppose now is as good a time as any to inform you all that I am, in fact, a vampire.

Yes. I am a legally certified doctor.

No. I don't feed off of my patients.

Yes. I do drink blood.

No. I don't want yours.

[A pause.]

And no. I don't sparkle.

If any of you have some sort of problem with this, you're welcome to come over to House 18 and kill me. It would certainly relieve the monotony of life. And it seems you have no need for a spare doctor around here. Otherwise, goodnight and do have a pleasant tomorrow.

[ Ned's gone back and forth trying to decide if he should send a message, but in the end he decides safe is better than sorry ]

In the interests of full disclosure and community and all that stuff you said I think I should mention... not a problem, exactly, but a warning? [ He knows he's rambling but this is sort of an awkward subject to bring up for him. He rubs the back of his neck nervously as he talks, not really looking into the communicator's camera ] If you're undead there's a small but not impossible chance that if I ever touched you you'd... die for real, so, if we ever run into each other around town, I guess, let's just make sure we don't run into each other run into each other.

[Mina spares him an arched look.]

I'm not entirely sure what to make of that.

[nedofpies]

[ Ned gives a small shrug, glancing at the camera before looking away again ] I don't know if it would affect a vampire or not. [ He'd touched plenty of vampires over the last week, but his normal power had been gone, then. ] But forewarned is forearmed, right? [ He attempts a smile, weakly ]

A practical mantra, I suppose.

Would you care to elaborate on this?

[nedofpies]

[ He's getting a little better at explaining his power, with practice, but it still takes effort. He lets out a heavy breath ] Pretty much when I touch dead things they come back to life, but if I touch them a second time they go back to being dead. And vampires are sort of dead things that have been brought back to life, right? So I'm not sure, but it's possible that... could happen.

[And Mina sits up just a little bit straighter.]

Interesting. How do you do this?

[nedofpies]

[ Another small shrug, his shoulders hunched rather defensively, even though all they are doing is talking. Ned hates having to think of himself like this - as some kind of walking, embodied weapon ]

I don't- it just happens. I can't control it.

You were born with this?

I guess. Probably. [ If Charles' theory is correct, it's a genetic mutation that wasn't triggered until he was a young boy, but he's not going into the details of all of that with a complete stranger. ]

I would love to look at your blood.

[nedofpies]

[ Ned is now definitely regretting speaking up. He should have just minded his own business and made sure to keep a distance from this woman if he saw her around. He is far more frightened of doctors than he is of vampires, and her curiosity, though he's sure it is well intentioned, is setting off all kind of alarm bells in his mind. It'd be hard for her to miss the fear and discomfort in his expression and tone of voice ]

I- uh. I don't think that's a good idea.

I'm not about to dissect you, dear.

[ He's not sure if it's intentional, the way her reassurance sounds more like a threat, but did she really have to use the d-word? He knows it is different here, that he has people to turn to if he needs help, but his hands are starting to shake, regardless. He has to brace the communicator against his knee so the video doesn't rattle. He's just gonna do what he always does when something's starting to freak him out and pretend he didn't hear it. ]

Anyway, I just wanted to warn you, for both our sakes.

[ With that he gives her the thinnest, most unconvincing smile ever and terminates the video. ]
