[ Feed flickers on and Clint's breathing erratically.

Only because he just spent the last 30 so minutes, watching his own back while he built small perimeter around the box. Big enough for Bruce to get a closer look at it. While protective enough to knock some sense into the creatures that were stupid enough to go into freaking tar pits like they were going on a picnic to where ever the hell they were traveling. Clint does what he wants! With the benefit of everyone else in mind.

Being ground level is sort of a gimme at this point as he straightens up and makes a bee-line for a tree branch before pulling himself up and jumping to another one, climbing up the tree before hopping over to the roof of one of the buildings and running his hand down his face before lifting up his communicator.
]

From what I can tell, I got a pack of Cujos travellin' throughout town. Biggest group I saw was ten, but 'm guessin' there's more. I didn't stick 'round to count. The Saber-cats from Hell travel by themselves for the most part. I counted five when I was movin' towards the fountain. The big pack is established 'round the fountain. [ And the box. Oh goodie. ]

Agent Carter wants us to report for her. [ He smirks, since he hasn't seen or heard from his Tasha. He'll just make due with this one. ] She authorized use for explosives. Not that I see any use for explosives that won't end up in tears at this point.

And just what exactly do you want us to do with this information? Write an article for National Geographic?

Why don't you and your co-workers just take them out instead of tracking their movements and studying their behaviour? Weapons are limited and most of us can't fight them off. Aren't you supposed to be protecting us?

[She smiles. It's not even a little bit pleasant.]

Look. I don't actually care what your job entails. What you need to do right now is round up your highly-trained friends and kill them before they kill us. Understood?

[There is absolutely zero reaction on Lydia's end. Her smile doesn't falter. She doesn't even so much as flinch. She waits until he's done. Also, that was him saying it nicely? How quaint.]

Fine. I'll do it myself.
preytosociety: (You can't get anywhere in 3 seconds.)

No, I'm going to knit a sweater. [Seriously, Clint. Get with the program.]

Yes. Kill them. If I have to.

[And she has one seriously personal vendetta against wolves.]

Alone seems to be the only option since you're so dead-set against helping and much more preoccupied with my ass.

[Oh... oh no. What is she-- she's rummaging around for stuff. Stuff that goes boom.]

Where were you when Kobra got attacked? When Daneel went to go get him? When Dean's brother was taken?

You may be helping. But it's not enough.

[She's frustrated. Not so much at Clint, but at herself. She's frustrated because she couldn't help. She's also frustrated because she still hasn't figured out how to open the box. Clint just happens to be the one she's taking it all out on. It's nothing personal.]

It's a simple, timed chemical reaction, and it's safer in my hands than anyone else's. After this is over, maybe you should keep your distance, because if I was going to kick anyone's ass? It would be yours.

None of your damn business. And as much as your opinion matters to everyone? Don't tell me what to do..

[Sound familiar?]

It's code for watch your back because I'm not a fan.
preytosociety: No. That's two years. Four years, tops. That is not eternal. (Show me your 'love is eternal' face)

[Dammit. Compliments. Her only weakness!]

I know.

[She signs off with a tilt of her head and the smuggest smile you ever did see.]
