001 ☍ VIDEO ( day 148 )

[ A high pitched sound crosses over the video feed before it shows the Doctor. He is holding the phone in one hand, and flicks his sonic screwdriver in the other. He looks over it once before turning his attention to the recording. ]

Yeah, sorry if that hurt any of your ears. Had to do a basic scan of the device. You know, the usual--checking for hidden feeds and the like. After all! You can't trust something given to you by your kidnappers. Even if they do leave a rather lovely welcoming message. I would have preferred someone to talk to in person, mind you, but at least you bothered to leave a message at all. I suppose I should congratulate you more, but I'm not in the mood for pleasantries.

[ Which makes him bring the phone closer. ] Which, brings me to my point: Kidnapping is wrong in any universe or spectrum of life. Especially when you can find a way to snap someone from a shielded time machine. Sorry, yes, I did say time machine. Obviously if you brought me here you know what I am, but maybe you don't know exactly who I am.

I'm the Doctor, and, if you want my help at all? Then you had best start answering my questions. There was something very important going on back home that you lot have taken me from. So, this had better be one hell of an emergency! Where am I? What exactly is "Cape Kore"? And where did you put my TARDIS?

You've got about--[ he checks the watch on his wrist, ]--I'd say three minutes to start answering my questions before I start to make a scene. Trust me. You don't want me to make a scene.

No one's replied yet. If the kidnappers do listen they're not answering.

[ Just fyi, Mr Super Important ]

The scene probably won't help.

No, but I've not been here that long. Not sure anyone else has been here much longer.

[ She hadn't been able to get a proper timeline about when they'd moved from the Town to the Facility, but it didn't sound long ]

Things changed a while ago.

It was forcibly. People used to get stuck in a town and then something made them come here. I don't know what but they came through some caves, and they're shut off now.

I'd ask the public that one. I haven't gotten that much from them. Apparently there's a lot you can forget.

[ Be made to forget, rather ]

You should look for the scientists.

You've been here before?

[ There's a small shrug ]

In a lab? They used to be all over the town. No one's seen them since.

He must have left before I got here.

[ Although changing faces? Him being here but as someone else? ]

Ẁhat monster?

I won't ask about that. [ It'll make it even easier ] Not sure that looking for monsters are part of my expertise-- [ She's only a sheriff. And... not even going to the rest ] --but it'll be an answer.

Yeah? Well I'm just a sheriff. And not a face changer. That doesn't happen where I'm from.
