007 | Castiel | Open video (CW: missing limb, blood)

[ At first, the video shows only flashes of Castiel's face looking particularly annoyed. He's clearly walking and looking for something and it isn't clear if he's even aware that the video is on or if he intended for this to be audio-only. ]
If you see a small saber-toothed cat, do not approach her. She appears to be... agitated.
[ He pauses. ]
There you are.
[ He starts to move more swiftly and there's a brief flash of his other arm, or what's left of it. Most of his forearm is missing from his right arm and he's done nothing to cover it yet.

[ He makes some effort not to roll his eyes, but doesn't quite hit the mark. Still, there's something fond under that. ]
I apologize for scaring anyone. That wasn't intended to include video footage. I'm fine now that I know the creature can't hurt anyone more fragile than myself.
I don't... think a hug is required.

Do you apologize to them or to me? [ You wanna see an eyeroll, Cas? This is an eyeroll. ]
Hmph. Should give you one anyway. Someone else will hit you for foolishness besides.
How long does it take an arm to regrow?

I'm not sure. If I were at full strength, no time. Now? Maybe days.
[ He shakes his head. ]
Do you always offer hugs to foolish strangers?

[ A shrug. ]
Only to deserving fools.

[ He shakes his head and offers her a smile. ]
I'm not sure that I'm deserving, but I think it's rude to refuse gifts, isn't it?

[ You are missing a limb and not certain you're deserving of a hug. River thinks she's starting to see the tip of the iceberg with you, Castiel. ]
Rude, but necessary. At times.
[ She'll wait until she suspects he's at least been bandaged and has the moment of consideration to actually knock instead of, say ...appearing in the house. ]

[ Perhaps he was naive to think that it would work out, but she'd been so young and small and he hadn't wanted to leave her alone to die in the woods. He body's a bit bigger now, but still small enough that from the right angle, she could still pass for a dead felid hybrid cat. ]
I'll get cleaned up and then I'll come... collect my hug.

So whenever Cas has decided that he's cleaned up, there's a teenage psychic waiting barefoot near a front porch, occasionally practicing dance steps at random. ]

[ He stops a few feet away, watching her with an indulgent expression. ]

[ River goes through the steps until she's completed the series she began before giving Castiel a little curtsy and a lingering visual once-over. ]
He didn't sit on you to keep you still? [ Then again, that might not actually work, but she wouldn't put it past Dean. Not that she's met him.
Not that it's necessary for her to have met him, but anyway. A hug, for one Castiel, careful not to disrupt too much healing tissue or edged nerves. ]
Take care with the blood you have because it is all we can see, you know. So you are your blood, whether or not you started out that way.

He wraps his other arm around her, loose and a little awkward, but not any moreso than most of his actions. ]
He read me a book. Sitting might have been ineffectual and annoying.
[ He smiles gently. ]
He said I should be more careful, too.
[ That seems to be the popular opinion. ]

Good. [ That he did something comforting as opposed to, say, just shrieking at Castiel the entire evening about how stupid and dangerous the stunt he pulled was.
That sounds like the sort of thing a guy like Dean might say.
River grins up at Castiel. ]
We are in a majority! The question is, will you be? [ She runs her finger along the edge of one bandage. ]

I'll try.
[ It's the best he can promise. He doesn't want to lie needlessly. ]
Hopefully there won't be any more danger for a little while.
[ He's not naive enough to think they'll get too much quiet. ]

[ that may or may not be a chiding remark, but either way, River will accept it. ]
And when there is?

[ He's just not wired that way and anyone who knows him should understand that, but then Dean's always been a hypocrite about this sort of thing. ]

[ He nods and even if he doesn't agree for the right reasons, he does agree. ]
I wouldn't want to cause pain to others if I could avoid it.
