Raphael | 003 | Video | Day 117
[ In then few seconds it takes him to set up to summon Michael, he quickly fires off a message, locked to all the angelsibs, save Michael. He's got it locked the hell away from Michael and Zachariah, for reasons that are very clear. ]
All of you, pipe up. And take note.
[ It almost rumbles over the device - rather than the brother he's tried to been, the last couple of months, it's very much the Second to the General of Heaven that's speaking. ]
We've managed to concoct a bit of peace here. I will do what I can to continue it. But all of you must do your parts as well.
[ And the rest is to the rest from their world, sans Michael, though his tone doesn't change. ]
I'll tolerate no shenanigans from anyone over Michael.

Yes it is. Any questions?
[ The command doesn't lessen, and more than when Raphael smote Castiel over Chuck's house it's a good look at the archangel Raphael has grown to be. ]

After all, Raphael hasn't exactly been subtle.
But he supposes his time to sway Raphael differently is gone, now, with the arrival of Michael. He's going to have to kill two birds with one stone -- sway Michael to sway Raphael. A task easier said than done, especially by a prophet. Especially by a human.
"Any questions", Raphael asks and Chuck finds he has many. Several of which he can't exactly ask Raphael.
With all the angels here -- Zachariah, Michael, Lucifer, Castiel -- does that mean the Apocalypse was going to happen again? But they weren't on Earth. Does the Apocalypse have to occur on Earth? And if the Apocalypse was going to happen again, did that mean he was going to start getting visions again?
But instead of asking any of those questions, he simply asks this: ]
Yeah, uh. When is Michael from?
Video
He never imagined such a time could come. Hadn't been prepared for it. Despite the fighting, despite the old hurts and betrayals, the archangels were different, closer to each other. And he'd always, always had Michael. Thought he always would. As the hours turned to days and the shock of what happen wore off, as the younger angels clamored and cried out to Raphael for answers he didn't have and direction he wasn't sure he even understood, as the days rolled into weeks and it became apparent that not only was Castiel raised by God but that God had abandoned Michael, some of that hurt had settled into intense loneliness.
And then he'd been here. And a brother he mourned - still mourned - had been here and it had been awkward and silted but warm and comforting in a way that Heaven hadn't been since Lucifer's Fall. It hadn't fallen on Raphael's shoulders to care of everyone and Gabriel had proven that he wasn't willing to allow Raphael to assume it all. And Raphael had clung to it like a lifeline.
He was unwilling to let it go, no. Unwilling to lose his younger brother again, and then Michael handed to him. He didn't know what to do, but he was determined to not lose Gabriel again. And fighting...fighting would do that. But he couldn't turn on Michael, could betray him either. Raphael was torn. ]
The tail end of Anna's time traveling escapades, I believe. I haven't asked when precisely yet.

Being trapped in Kore is almost a second chance for the angels -- specifically the archangels -- and one he hadn't intended on giving. With most of all the archangels being near the end of their timeline and being trapped here, together, for the first time in a millenia, that could maybe, maybe make them stop for two seconds and think with those brains he had given them.
Because his archangels aren't stupid. He knows they're not. And being here, without his presence, with none of them wanting to fight, with Lucifer refusing to fight, with Sam and Dean unlikely to say 'yes' to either archangel, maybe it will be enough to convince Michael that he doesn't have to go through with it. That he has a choice. That he won't be punished for saying 'no'.
He has hope.
Only time will tell if it's enough. ]
Oh, yeah. Because of the... vessel.
[ He supposes if he had been taken from any later, Michael's vessel would be Adam Milligan instead of John Winchester.
But bringing up Anna leaves him sad. Because Chuck had grown close to her while she was here. He always knew that her return home would end in her demise, but Michael being here only proves to cement that fact into his brain.
This had all been so much easier when they were all characters in a book and not real people. ]
So, uh. Peace?
Video
That's why he's pro-Apocalypse to begin with. More than anything else it's that utter lack of hope that has him ready to throw in the towel and give up. Because there's no point.
'We're living in a Godless universe.' What more frightening thing, what more hopeless thing for an archangel could there be? Living in a creation abandoned by God, how could it do anything but rot and decay? Didn't what he knew, the Leviathans, Metatron and the angels, didn't that prove him right? Everything was dying.
He didn't want it to be this way. He wanted better, he just didn't have the energy or the will to try anymore. ]
Yes, peace. As much of it as we can have, anyway. This isn't our world, we shouldn't drag our fight here.
Video
And, while his policy of angelic non-interference hadn't worked 100% like he'd wanted, perhaps he could... tweak his policy, just a little. He still won't directly interfere, of course, but a little nudge in the right direction might not go amiss. ]
So, uh. I... won't be getting any more visions, will I?
[ Chuck isn't exactly sure how the vision process works, exactly. Do they come directly from God --
ha-- or does it just... happen when something big is about to happen? ]Video
They all need nudging, but some need more than others - and Raphael did.]
You shouldn't, no.
Video
Okay, good. [ Beat. ] Well, no, I don't mean good, but...
[ He isn't afraid to give some nudges, should the opportunity present itself. But no sooner and no later than those moments. ]
Video
[ Could but likely won't. Did Raphael actually learn something about consent somewhere? ]
Video
[ He didn't mean it like that. He knows he's a prophet, and that means it's his job to get visions and predict the future. But he didn't ask for that, and he's really a lot happier without the visions than with them. ]
Video
[ Cross Raphael though...and he'll be a bit heavy handed. ]
Video
No, I... peace is good, remember? I like peace.
