[Behold Stiles' most charming smile. Which is actually pretty darned charming, considering how much practice it's gotten with getting him out of sticky situations.]

So, I was talking to a guy who said that talking to you would be a good place to start if I was looking into learning how not to get my ass kicked. Because not gonna lie, that would be useful information for me to have, considering my history.

Yeah, because 'dangerous' is completely new territory for me.

[But because he doesn't want Derek to think he's a complete idiot, e sobers a little.]

I'll be careful. I have Mountain Ash... it's not much, but if she's any kind of non-human creepy, it'll be enough to hold her off. And if she's human-creepy... I'll scream really loud.

I mean it, Stiles.

[ It's hard not to know by now how Stiles tends to brush off the serious with the light humour and sarcasm, but until he finds out for himself, he's not going to be able to stop that nagging at the back of his mind about how she could turn on him.

But he does lighten the tone, rolling his eyes, and stating dryly. ] And I'll come running.

I mean it, too.

[He touches his arm, hesitant.]

I'm not gonna go skipping merrily into the jaws of danger, Derek. The first sign of trouble and I'll fall back on the 'screaming and running' defense.

[ He looks at Stiles, down at his arm, and then back, but where not that long ago there was hostility out of lack of anything else to do from a touch, he just looks a little thrown by it. ]

You are getting good at that.

Yeah...

[And just like that, his hand is gone.]

Had a lot of practice.

I noticed.

[ He's not sure if to miss the contact or be thankful there is still some intimidation left to be put to use. He settles on a mix of both. ]

Tell someone whenever you go over there. I'm not coming to your rescue unless it's absolutely necessary.

[His grin is unfailingly cheeky.]

[ But he rolls his eyes, gracefully flops down onto the bed. ]

Because Peter's oh-so-good at following orders. And, you know. Not thwarting all of your attempts to be a badass.

There is a reason why no one likes him.

Because he's unlikeable. Also, chronically smug.

[He huffs, then gives a little shrug.]

I should probably... find something to do that isn't standing in your room like a lemming. You get back to brooding at the wall or whatever.

[ Rolling his eyes, his eyebrows twist into an expression that asks: Seriously?. ]

I wasn't brooding.

[He snorts.]

Exercising the attack-caterpillars?

[ No, he's not going to indulge him, he really shouldn't, because encouraging him can only make life more difficult.

But it says a lot about them that he actually catches on to what he means. ]

I'll set them on you while you sleep if you're not careful.

[ You'll make him self-conscious at this rate, Stiles, and werewolves are far too good for that kind of thing. ]

[Stiles just laughs. He'll never admit it, but he loves Derek's eyebrows and their vast range of expressions.]

I'd love to see you explain that to the pups.

I doubt Isaac would question is. How does Brigid like you?

Hey, what do you think? Could she really resist this face?

[ Now it's time for the amused eyebrow judging. ]

Yeah.

[He visibly deflates, shoulders drooping and expression falling so far that it has to be an act.]

[ It's probably going too far, but there's no heat behind it. ]
