[oh hey, that's a lovely picture of an eyeball right there. Luckily, the eyeball moves back a bit and you're treated to the head attached to it. Norman is staring at the communicator, eyes furrowed and lips in a narrow line, trying to figure out how it works.]

What are you doing? [Another head pokes in from the side of the screen. Carrie just seems incredibly nervous.] Be careful, you might break it...

I think it'd probably end up breaking me, first...

[That seems to have the opposite effect. At her name Carrie stiffens even more and looks ready to just about run.]

How do you know you know my name?

It's something I can do. It's very rare I meet someone and don't know their name.

[That however....she pauses and thinks about it. And relaxes very slightly. Because ...she can do things too after all. And she read others could do things....she just never thought she'd meet one.]

[Well at least it wasn't her making him know her name. She remembers doing that before.]

[She doesn't seem to think that is possible.]

There are yes. I've been surprised, and pleased, by it.

[ He doesn't hold an high opinion of people. ]

[At least not a real one. They don't count, they laughed at her.]

Are you sure they're not just trying to trick you?

I don't meet them often.

[ ...he's not really included in there either. ]

Yes, I'm sure. I can see them, what makes them up, who they are, so it difficult to deceive me.

[She nods slowly at that, not really sure whether to believe him or not, but not really wanting to argue.]

Um....are we supposed to do something here?

[ He'll explain the archangel thing to her later. Or she can find out via Norman. ]

Survive is a good place to start - there are other plans, I'm sure, but generally work together to survive.

....is that hard to do here?

[She bites her lip but then stops, no fear. She has to be able to survive after all.]

What do we have to do?

It depends on what you are used to. Food is a bit scarce, but some of us hunt or fish, others farm and gather, and between all of us, no one goes hungry.

[ They may not be full or have what they want, but no one goes hungry, and Raphael makes sure the children have enough to eat. ]

Food is the main concern, winter will make it worse but we'll manage.

Medical care is a bit limited, so if you are injured or unwell it's best to speak up sooner than later - smaller problems are easier to take care of.

What clothing we have is what we have so it's important to take care of your belongings.

[ It's gentle and Raphael tries to make it sound less daunting. ]

.....so we help ...each other.

[That last thing though.]

I'm good at sewing...and making clothes. I could help repair things.

[She can be useful, she can be useful and maybe people won't hate her.]

[ As strange as that was. ]

I'm sure there are many here who would appreciate that.

No, you don't. Not unless you want to.

[She nods. She's not sure if she trusts the strange man she woke up in the same house with. But she doesn't trust anyone so there's that.]

How...big is this place?

It's small. A little over a dozen homes, some other buildings, and the woods. Stay out of those ok? There are very dangerous animals in there.

[She nods. She seems to be looking a bit calmer now at least.]

[ Calmer is good. ]

Raphael. If you want a tour, I'll show you around. I've been here for a couple months.

[This is said with a bit of wonder and half to herself. Maybe this was a sign. Maybe God was trying to say she wasn't damned.]

[ He debates for a moment, hearing the tone, then decides. ]
