video/action ❆ day 129
[Poking around with Anita, and on her own, has yielded the discovery of a lab with decent skylights. As a result, it's less foreboding than the other labs. But only just. What helps further is a series of neat little raised beds — Meja found them in poor condition, much like the rest of the facility, but she's dedicated her morning to rejuvenating the soil and cleaning things off. There are now little carved runes on the side of the beds that should negate them needing to be watered — most of the time, at least.
And now that they look a little less like brown death, she's investigating in the cupboards. No matter how much that little voice says that maybe she shouldn't. And it isn't without a point: she finds a spider in one of the cupboards that's bigger than her own hand. For now, she'll leave it alone, but if it's poisonous she's not sure what to do with it. Someone else could get hurt.
What she's finding is definitely interesting. Unmarked containers of seeds, for another. The equipment she finds is completely foreign to her, for the most part. There are basic things she can guess about, but the technology is... well, it's beyond her. After gathering a small amount on an empty table that she cleaned earlier, she switches on her phone's video function.
Roland the white rat can be seen grooming himself on top of a raised bed. It seems that he's going to stick with Meja, at least for now, since she's feeding him regularly. He's steering clear of the spider; it looks like they know one another.]
I don't suppose anyone's feeling adventurous? Or knows what these devices are for? It seems some of our scientists were into plants... in their own way.
[For anyone wandering in the area, the door's open. When she isn't pondering the technology or rooting around in a cupboard, she's contemplating her notebook for ways to improve potential plant growth — sitting on the floor with her long legs splayed to the side. (Yet again. Maybe this garden will last longer.) ]

[She might settle for a reliable door outside, but there just isn't one.]
Ah, yes! It's a few corridors from the infirmary. [She glances at the open door.] Or, well, it was. Hard to say, here.

[ Outside would be LOVELY. ]
I'll...actually it might be quickest if we try something else. Do you have a pen on you?
no subject
[A furrow appears in Meja's brow at the question.]
A pen? Yes. [Luckily, she does have her notebook, and holds her borrowed pen up.] What should I do?
no subject
All right, one moment.
[ He sets his phone down, beginning to write on a piece of paper - a pair of concentric circle, some sigils around the outermost circle and the inner one blank. Off to the side he draws another - his own. Then he picks up the phone, showing it. ]
Draw this, with the sigil here in the middle.
[ The first is just a general call to attention, less than summoning but more than a prayer. Putting a name - or names - in it directs it. But unlike a summoning, it can be ignored. ]
It should lead me to you.

Like this?
[She displays her work. It's precise.]

[ And he is - just a few minutes later. ]

Hei hei.

Hello. Would you be more comfortable...?
[ There was no reason to stick to English. ]
no subject
[With as many languages as she knows, sometimes it's difficult to remember which one is the 'common' one. In the Center, it seems to be English.]
The seeds are here.
[She gestures to the cupboard of them, in their unmarked containers.]
no subject
[ And several languages not from Earth. ]
Thank you.
[ He crosses to the seeds, starting to pick a few up, smelling them, and pulling a pen from his pocket to start labeling them. ]
no subject
She watches him label, and can't hold back her curiosity.]
Is that an inherent trait for angels?
no subject
More or less. We can all do it, but if the younger ones don't know what a plant is, they won't be able to tell.

[She shakes her head a little.]
It's hard for me to keep the flora of nine different Realms straight. And we didn't exactly have too plants when I was a child. But I'm glad we've got you here, at least. Even if some of these are probably anyone's guess.
no subject
[ Not that they would be able to identify more Earth plants than he could - if they were from anywhere in his Creation, he'd know - but more used to handling them yes. ]

[She gives Roland a few scritches behind his ears, which he seems to enjoy.]
The elves on Alfheimr taught me how to care for plants, but one simply needs experience and a good memory to recognize them — usually.
