[She isn't showing her face over the network, but still, Fortescue's voice sounds almost as bad as her numerous injuries. It wobbles every so often, from the abuse it's taken, and she can't even drum up the emotion to be angry about her lack of control over it. It is what is is.]
Hello, Science Center. Miss me? [Fortescue holds the phone away from her face, for a moment, to cough. She might sound dry, but she really is grateful to be back. Very grateful.] Had this place let me remember, I would have been able to return the favor.
...I don't want to inconvenience anyone, but I'm not... especially mobile, and the canteen is quite a distance from my room. If anyone feels like being generous, I wouldn't mind a snack. [Or maybe more than a snack, but she doesn't feel worthy enough, anymore, to ask for more than that. What is she, aside from a person who failed in her most basic duties as a sister?
She almost asks for alcohol, too, just for the hell of it, but she doesn't. She cuts the feed after a quick,]
Thank you.

Thank you.

[ And he tried to feed her to a giant spider. Kind of ruins the romance. ]
I'll tell you who does have fantastic hair - Cas. I mean, he has really nice hair.
no subject
He does, it's true. You think he does anything to it? [Jokingly. Because the thought of Castiel doing his hair on purpose, scooping hair gel in, is amusing. Probably his vessel just has good genetics.] Poor Cas is the one who found me yesterday, half out of my mind...

[ Donna! Stop swooning over angels! Jeez. ]

[It's new to Fortescue. Usually people don't rescue her. Even working with her little team, she was the one who went in first and got out last. If someone ran into a jam, it was her job to get them out of it. Unless otherwise occupied.
She shakes her head slightly.]
Literally swooping, since I hallucinated that he was a giant black stork. Fixed my leg up, though. No stork could have done that.
no subject
He didn't bring you a baby, right?

[Fortescue tries to keep her tone from dipping downward. If she can't even keep a promise to protect her little sister, she'll never be fit as a parent. Not that she ever wanted that, anyway...]
It was magic deprivation. Comes with all sorts of nasty side effects. Most of the worst ones have gone now.
[Most. Not all. Her bruises will keep returning until she's fully healed, and she'll have nightmares that could scare anyone. Among other pains. But she tries not to think about that.]
Do you think Castiel would know what to do with a baby?
no subject
Just because.
Sometimes a hug is all someone needs. ]
You know what? I bet he'd surprise us all...
no subject
There's only one person who'd hug her now, back home, and she'll never see him again. She's sure of that. Hugs here in the Center make her feel far less alone. Here, she has people who care about her. It makes her next comment stick in her throat, as she feels it tighten. Then she takes a deep breath and continues.]
Perhaps. It would certainly be surprising.
no subject
She releases the hug after a long moment, and sinks back down onto her butt. ]
Maybe we should get him to give out bunnies instead...
no subject
There could be test bunnies, somewhere around here. Never know.
no subject
But would they turn into killer monsters like his sabre-tooth tiger did? I don't want my throat ripping out by killer bunnies. Do you?
no subject
[Fortescue smirks.]
For the sake of this imaginary, bunny-wielding Castiel, let's just say that they're normal bunnies. But I wouldn't put much past this place, right now.
no subject
Therapy bunnies.
To help with the whole being kidnapped thing.

[There's a grumble from the bed, and she reaches out to stroke Jazz with a laugh. Sometimes he understands far too much from their bond.]
Don't be like that, grumpy-pants. If I didn't have you, I'd get behind it.

At least the houses on the Cape had character!

[It makes her think back on the scientist's message to them all, before they'd been forced to leave. Jazz looks grumpy, but a purr starts a moment after Donna starts to pet him.]
Do you think they built it to begin with? The people who made this place, I mean. Or do you think it was a site them commandeered?
no subject
On the plus side - this place seems to have less cameras. Unless we just haven't found them yet...
[ She continues to pet Jazz. Scritching lightly behind one ear. ]
no subject
Oh, I hope there aren't any. I was really liking not having to worry about that.
[Not that she really cares about people seeing her naked, but the constant no privacy thing becomes tedious after a while.]
no subject
[ Yep. Donna likes privacy. ]
no subject
[She sighs.]
I do miss the view, though. And the ability to go outside.
no subject
I guess we have to make the best of what we got though, right? At least we got each other!
