Well, now. Think I finally got the hang of this thing.

[He gives the camera an easy smile as he settles in, seated in the room he's claimed for himself with his feet up on the table, legs crossed. Perfectly at home, despite the cold and potentially sterile environment. Sure beats Purgatory, anyway.]

Wonderin' if there's anyone I can talk to about gettin' some grub in this place. Not tryin' to be a princess or anything, but I've got some special dietary needs. Would sure appreciate anyone who could lend a hand.

[That said--]

Now. [His smile fades just a little bit, gaze growing just a touch more serious. Somber never quite fit him, but this will do.] I hear some of you have been to a little place called Purgatory. Y'all should give me a ring, when you've got the time. We may just have some friends in common.

[Translation: Dean, get on the horn now.]

[He lets out a short, humorless laugh. Right to the point, isn't he?]

What can I say? Plans changed.

[Except they hadn't. Staying in Purgatory had always been the plan, the moment he'd agreed to that particular favor. He feels like some part of Dean has to know that -- and once he was back downstairs, he didn't care what happened to him. Not like before.]

Got your brother home, didn't I?

[ That's kind of all the acknowledgment he needs. He wants Benny to know that he cares, that he noticed, that he regrets everything that happened, all the circumstances that made it hard for Benny and hard for them to continue having this... friendship, this bond, this whatever. There's nothing either of them can do about it now, and he figures Benny knows that, too. If he'd wanted to be angry, he could've been angry at Dean for abandoning him; their arrangement aside, Dean had abandoned him; he's fully aware of that. ]

Yeah, you did. Bobby, too. Never did get to thank you for that.

[ But he still half-hoped that maybe one day, maybe, but maybe Benny was happier down there where things made sense. You were what you were and you fought the things that came after you; it's simpler than topside, that's for sure. ]

Sam's here, if you didn't know. I don't know who you've been talking to.

My pleasure, you know? I owed you.

[For a whole lot of things. It had been a big favor that Dean had called in, but he'd been willing to do it. Hadn't hesitated for more than a moment. Dean had gotten Benny back to his family, at least for a little while. Least he could do was turn around and do the same for his blood brother.]

He an' I chatted for a few. One of the first people to respond to this thing. Doesn't seem like he wants to kill me anymore. Pleasant surprise, I'll tell you that.

[He smiles knowingly. They both know Sam's not a Benny fan.]
