[One thing can be said for Kurt -- even if he tends a little towards the dainty side, when the chips are down he doesn't mind getting dirty. His beloved yellow jacket has been safely stowed away, and the rest of his clothes are significantly grimier than they were when he arrived.

But he looks as chipper as can be expected -- mostly since he's found his way to the diner and is currently blissful over the fact that, while there isn't a Kitchenaid to be found, at least the stove isn't wood-burning.]

First person to bring me some sort of seafood so I can get this paella off the ground gets to pick dessert.

I just mean, you know, that it's adorable and kind of pathetic that you can't do more.

Right. Of course. I should've taken knife-fighting instead of shop.

[Elle shrugs.] In my school, I was taught how to kill people. It's really useful.

...what sort of school was that?

I was home-schooled.

[She looks at him, quickly growing defensive.] What? You think I would have had more fun in shop? I don't even know what that means, unless you get to, like, go shopping all the time.

It's building things. I'd prefer a class where we could shop all the time.

... You know how to build stuff? Like... Oh, god. Is it like on TV, and your parents have, like, twelve thousand birdhouses that all look like crap?

God, no. I took one term of shop and I switched as soon as I could to Home Ec.

Oh. [It's obvious Elle doesn't fully understand that one, either.]

I went to high school once. I think that was one of the classes I blew off. [She'd had Claire's schedule anyway. Elle had never cared about the classes.]

I don't blame you. High school is an unpleasant necessity, really.

[Something about the way she says it seems to imply that it isn't a good thing to be normal.]
