What's going on, what is this?

[ More muffled sounds, then a loud tap against the communicator. ]

Why am I on a beach?!

Unharmed? Well, yes but-

[ She pauses to collect herself, and the voice that follows is much calmer, a lot less shaky. ]

I don't know where I am, or how I got here. Is this some kind of trick?

Perhaps it is, but I'm not sure who might be behind it. I also have no notion of how I arrived here, and I gather that's a common sentiment.

[Unharmed is good. It's one less thing for Daneel to worry about.]

So it's not just me that this has happened to.

[ That's a relief, and she can't help but sigh quietly. She's been sure that it's just another cruel trick that she's being made to endure by those upstairs. ]

I'm Anna. Does this kind of thing happen often, then?

New people do seem to arrive regularly. It's perhaps unfortunate, but at least no one, to my knowledge, has been harmed on arrival.

Thank God for small blessings I suppose? [ A brief pause follows, and then- ]

...Are people getting hurt after arrival then?

[thezerothlaw]

[He looks distinctly troubled.]

It has happened. We've had issues with wild animals, and more recently, a rather violent and disturbed newcomer. To my knowledge, no one has been hurt fatally.

[And he really hopes that's accurate.]

[ And now she has a worried look of her own to match his, because of course it couldn't be as simple as just being thrust into a strange little town to live life quietly. ]

Well, at least I know I might be of some use around here then?
