[ 001 ] [ Peggy Carter ] [ video ]
[ The sounds of footsteps can be heard as Peggy inspects the device on her wrist with interest. She's got no idea how it works of course, but after a few moments a video feed pops up and her face appears, her exact location somewhat hidden. It's night, and although some trees can be made out behind her, that's all that's visible with the lack of light.
She waits, using the small pause to clear her throat, and then she speaks. The British accent is very obvious, and she's careful to use a calm, even tone. ]
I'm not sure whom exactly is behind my appearance here, but I should warn you my presence will be noticed and the people I work for do not negotiate with kidnappers. If you release me now, I haven't seen your faces and I don't know where I am. It's a good deal, you should take it.
[ With that said, she tries to smile. Not for very long though, and it isn't much of an effort to begin with. Peggy stares at the communicator a moment longer, hits another button and then the feed cuts out. ]

[ Peggy. That face. It was Peggy's. She can't figure out why her aunt sounds English, but it's Peggy's face. Maybe Peggy is undercover? Or maybe this isn't her Peggy, just like it isn't her Steve, or her Tony, or her Cheese. ]
[ Right. So... until she knows more, she'll continue to tread carefully. Even if it were her Peggy, her aunt is young enough that the announcement of a niece would likely come as a surprise, especially as the two of them seem to be around the same age. ]
[ She's tempted to go about her business and merely keep an eye on things. That might be the wisest course. No alarming anyone, no freaking anyone out, no need to feel the ache of having her favorite relative around but not being able to tell her who Sharon really is - or at least, less of a need. And if Sharon is lucky, or skilled, she can suppress the feeling of injustice that the people from that other universe all have each other, whereas she only has a wolfman, his clone, and a missing best friend. ]
[ In the end, though, the video feed comes on. ]
They likely won't answer. There are plenty of us in the same position. We're working on getting out but so far haven't had much luck. Is there anything else I could help you with, maybe?
[ Evidently, at the end of the day, Sharon is a masochist. Wonderful. ]

I'd like to know a bit more about where we actually are, if that's information you have. It seems there's a few of us in this boat, do you know how many precisely? Is there any connection between the people taken?
[ Surprisingly she is actually okay. This isn't the first time she's woken up behind enemy lines, this is just the first time it's happened in such unusual circumstances. ]

It might help if I can explain in person. Have you found the fountain?

[ She pauses a moment, eyes the video. She's not got a lot of reason to trust the woman on the other side, but by the same vein she hasn't exactly got much more reason not to. ]
Shall I meet you there?
no subject
Yes, the garish thing in the middle of town. I'll meet you there.
[She cuts the feed and wastes no time in getting there. It may not be her Aunt Peggy, but it's still some version of Peggy Carter, the woman who inspired her to join SHIELD. The woman who helped Sharon plot the life she wanted, who taught her never to back down and never let herself be taken for granted. The woman Sharon, in recent years, has watched deteriorate with Alzheimer's. As much as this isn't her aunt, as much as it might hurt, part of her just wants to see her aunt again.]

As she sees Sharon approach the tapping stops though, and she approaches her with a friendly enough smile and an extended hand. ]
Agent Carter, though I prefer Peggy. Thank you for meeting with me, this is all rather strange. I can't say I'm all that experienced in mass kidnappings of this scale.
no subject
[There. Good save. Maybe you can act more like a freaking superspy from now on, Sharon. At the bare minimum, try to keep onto that "spy" title you're so fond of, thanks.]
My name is Sharon. I was given the codename Agent 13. You can call me by whichever you prefer. I'm Acting Director of SHIELD while we're here. If it helps, most people here aren't accustomed to mass kidnappings on this scale.
To give you a fast rundown, we've all been taken from different points in time, and many of us have been taken from different universes. Mind if I ask you a couple questions to try to narrow down what universe you're from?
[And also to find out if Sharon could possibly exist in that universe.]
[Okay. Sharon isn't sure if she's going about this the right way at all anymore. She just needs to know. As much as she will never admit it, she just wants her aunt. Wants something familiar. Wants someone here to care about her as much as the SHIELD agents from the other universe.]

Comforting enough that she's pushed even further into work mode, and she just nods her acceptance as Sharon mentions multiple universes. Stranger things have happened after all. ]
Anything I can do to help, I want to get back as much as I'm sure the rest of you do.
[ She brushes down her skirt briefly, and the mild irritation at being stuck in full uniform is vastly outweighed by the security it brings. ]

In the meantime, I suggest you get as settled as you can. I take it you're from WWII? [her smile is wry and more than a little pained.] Good. Normally, they refresh our food each night, but they haven't been doing that lately, and we've been running low. If you need anything, I'll be happy to try and help.
Any family back home?
no subject
[ She's not comfortable with the idea of getting settled at all, but it seems people have been here quite a while with no successful escape as of yet, she's hardly going to be the thing that tips the scales in their favour. It's an unpleasant idea, but practical nonetheless. ]
1943. I was quite busy, actually. It's really quite inconvenient timing. [ Her smile at that is small, but much more amused smirk than polite courtesy, and the side of her mouth tugs up slightly as she continues. ] I'm used to rations, I won't take much of your supplies.
[ Enter a confused face at the question on her family, because really, how could that be relevant? Still, she highly doubts Sharon's asking without a reason, so despite the apprehension that's somewhat evident, she still answers. ]
As far as I'm aware, my parents are still safe at home with my brother. Provided England isn't burning to the ground in my absence, that is. Why do you ask?
no subject
I figured you might be. But we have plenty for now. Haven't had to dip into them much. If someone gives you any trouble about it, tell me, and I'll set them straight.
[Her expression remains impassive while Peggy mentions her family, but there's still a flash of relief in hearing Peggy still has a brother. She only hopes it's Harrison, Sharon's father.]
I have family, too. An aunt. Don't worry, ma'am. I'll try to get everyone home before much time passes. Though if it helps, there's one person here who's been here before and doesn't seem to remember having been here before. My theory is that we can be sent back home, with no memory of this place, to the same time as when we left.
no subject
I don't think that'll be a problem, ut thank you anyway.
[ She's got a nice neutral expression back to match Sharon's, and when she gives her a small nod it's all very professional. ]
It seems to me that you have more to go on about this place than anyone else I've spoken to so far.
no subject
[She hesitates a moment. How to say this...] From your uniform and dialect, I'd guess you worked with the Allies during World War II. You might know someone here. Captain America?
no subject
Instead of an actual response, the first thing that Sharon gets is a small, sharp nod. It's only been a little while after all, barely a month and she's still a little raw about it all. After a moment she pulls it back in though, and even as her arms cross tightly over her chest she smiles easily. ]
Yes, we were acquainted. Is someone he knew here? I'm sure it would be great to meet someone else who knew him.
no subject
At least, I hope he's the same one you know. The Peggy Carter I knew in my universe was American and didn't know Captain America's real name during the War.
[She watches Peggy closely. Just how different are this Peggy and her Peggy?]
[And will this news make this Peggy as- well, will it make her happy? Or...]
