004 | Anna Milton | [VIDEO]
So someone left me this- [ She holds up the paper that once held a surprisingly nice, red scarf that's currently loosely wound around her neck. ] And it's not got a name attached, so whoever it was, even if you want to stay anonymous, I just wanted to say
[ And it's about then that she stops making a sound, although she continues to mouth for a few moments as though she's still talking. ]

Of course, it doesn't work. That'd just be too easy. He's not really expecting it to, if she can't fix it herself, but it was worth a try.]

Her anger is subsiding, it's hard to keep that level of frustration for any length of time, but it's just being replaced by dejection, and that's so much worse. With a noticeably silent sigh she drops down to sit on his bed, head falling into her hands as she stares down at the floor.
...Yeah, it's safe to say she's really freaked out by now. ]

[He sits down next to her, though not too close, because he's self-aware enough to know that his skills at reassuring people are negligible at best and slap-worthy far too often.]
I mean, you've got a great Little Mermaid thing going on, and angel radio oughtta still work. You don't need to talk to any of those other losers.

Our Gabriel, who art in Kore. Hallowed be thy mead.
no subject
[He grins at her. That's a little better, at any rate.]
I suppose it's some kind of super-powered hex. Probably aimed primarily at humans, since you can still communicate like this.
no subject
Yeah, it's gotten a few of the people around town so far. Kind of assumed I'd be immune though, you know?
[ What famous last words those had been, it seems. Still, actually being able to talk to someone has her in much higher spirits, at least. She's even smiling again, mostly. ]

[Which isn't really the right attitude to take to people's suffering, especially those who've been blinded, but he knows his priorities and strangers aren't among them.]
no subject
[ More like no success, but she's optimistic enough not to say that. This is the third case she's heard of though, the fourth if Tony is counted, and she knows there's been more. It's not exactly the most comforting thing in the world. ]
I damn well better not get stuck like this, Gabe. I'll go nuts.
no subject
[Which is a terrible joke, but that's the best way to deal with these things, right? ...right?]
'Sides, you're already nuts.
no subject
Oh yeah? Look who's talking.
[ She's much more relieved though, and he's just going to have to deal with some space invasion for a moment because Anna leans towards him and nudges an elbow in the direction of his ribs, settling against his side. ]
Do you know how weird this is? I'm really bad at charades.
no subject
[He flinches at her elbow, making a show of it as soon as he realises as if it had been an act from the start. Recently siblings in the vicinity of his ribs have been a bad sign, but he's fairly sure she's not about to stab him, so he puts an arm around her shoulders instead. It's not exactly Hallmark sappy, but it's as close as he's likely to get to it.]
no subject
[ The flinch doesn't go unnoticed, but there's a time and a place for bringing that stuff up, and somehow Anna thinks now isn't the time. Maybe when she's got her voice back, when they're not broadcasting a conversation out loud to their siblings, or when she actually thinks she'll get a serious answer - all of which are indefinite and could take anywhere from an hour to never at this point.
So the 'which one dicked you over' conversation can wait, instead she just gets a little more comfortable. Open affection from the family isn't exactly something any of them are all that used to, but Anna's a little better at pushing it than most. She's got years of training under her belt, and Gabriel even gets a head resting on his shoulder. By angelic standards, they may as well be sobbing about their feelings right now. And it's nice. It's been a while. ]
So what do you reckon is it is, revenge for the scientists? Experiments? Can't be just for nothing, surely.
no subject
[If any other angel could see them, they'd probably pass out from the shock of it. Well, except Balthazar, he'd probably just suggest a threeway. As it is, Gabriel just pretends this is nothing strange. He's not so bad at dealing with emotions that he can't at least do this much, after all.]
If they wanted revenge, they'd probably just kill us. Pretty sure they could. Maybe someone just thinks it's funny. Or hates Christmas.
[He stops for a moment, realising what he'd just accidentally implied.]
Which I realise makes me sound like a prime suspect, but honest, nothing to do with me this time.
no subject
[ She turns slightly to frown away at him, but she's actually joking this time. Yes, she did sort of jump to the conclusion that he'd done it to her when she initially saw his response on the feed, but she doesn't actually think he's behind this. ]
Pretty sure you'd have to tell someone if it was you, on account of that total lack of ego and whatnot.
no subject
[He winks. He hits on everyone, he's not going to make exceptions just because they happen to be his siblings.]
Tell someone? Please, I'd run around waving it on a banner.
[No, of course he doesn't have issues, that much attention-seeking is completely normal...]
no subject
I don't know about that, I think it favours some of us more than others.
[ Look, there's even joking. This is a vast improvement on the ranting and pacing that the loss of her voice had initially brought. It's a fair reaction though, it's not like she has to deal with vulnerabilities all that much. ]
Heavens forbid anyone doesn't hear about what a good idea you've had, right?
no subject
[Because obviously she meant him, right? Obviously.]
The world needs to know of my genius, Anna.

What we all wouldn't give to get a little insight into the way that great mind ticks.
