It's not really all that safe here. And it seems like most of the danger is being instigated by the people who brought us here, so I'd take that promise with a grain of salt.

So I am now being informed! I'm a little bit baffled, really. Like, what are they going to all this trouble for, anyway? It's really kind of rude of them, too, to tell people that they're safe like that. Is it worth it to check out the house they said I should go to, even? It's just I was kind of excited about the prospect of working plumbing.

I don't know. Haven't figured it out yet. Honestly, I don't think anyone has. You can check out the house, though. The plumbing works.

Yesssss, okay, I am still so thankful for that. Like, I've gotten used to roughing it, but it's just not the same, you know? So what exactly is the downside of all of this? I'm hearing a lot of ominous stuff but not a lot of deets.

Not really. I'm not exactly a roughing it kind of guy.

There are cameras everywhere. And I do mean everywhere. Occasionally some guys abduct us to perform hideous experiments. There are monsters in the forest. The ocean's poisoned. You know, typical day in Cape Kore.

Well, neither am I, but pretty much everyone's got to be a little bit of one these days, amirite? The cameras and the experimenting, that's new, though. [ Ocean poisoned, monsters: been there, done that. ] What kind of experiments? [ She really sounds more interested than worried. ]

Beats me. I haven't experienced it yet, but I get the sense that whatever it is, it isn't pleasant.

[ He might remark on her easy acceptance of monsters in the forest, but after aliens invaded New York with their flying space whales, he's pretty indifferent about the monsters, too. ]

Mostly just looking forward to a bit of civilization! Also getting to sleep in a real bed. Or is the cake a lie on that part, too? Really, I guess I just try to look for the good in every situation. I mean, there's no use fretting when nothing bad has happened yet, right?

Well, trees fall over and my shoes get wet pretty often, so it's not as interesting, I guess; I just like seeing new sights, haha. I've been on the road for a really long time, though, so it's kind of nice to get to rest somewhere with amenities! How long have you been here?

Well, even some of the places I've called home for short periods of time have been somewhat lacking, but that's how the cookie crumbles when the infrastructure breaks down. So none of you have been here very long? Where'd you come from before this, then? I've been wondering how other parts of the world have been doing.

Well, I wouldn't call myself a resident or anything, but I was in Indiana before I ended up here. I don't know how bad your part of the world is, but we had beds and trees there, so I guess we were doing alright.
