[When the video comes on, Bruce looks down into the feed, then away again, pressing his lips together before he's back, strength renewed.]

My memory of the last few days isn't... so good, but I'm pretty sure that I, ah... may have attacked some of you.

[He's still sore where someone burned him, and though he remembers the pain and the heat, he has no recollection of who was hurting him. No face other than that of what must've been a hallucination because that -- he -- he's dead.

And anyway his hands weren't made of fire.]

I'd like to apologize for that. I'm not really a violent person... when I'm not on crazy hallucinogens. No LSD for me, I guess.

[He smiles weakly and then nods at the communicator.]

If any of you need medical attention, I'm back up to speed and will be in the clinic not having split-personality-esque arguments with myself. Sherlock and I will look into -- uh, not that I've asked him since we regained our sanity. Well, anyone want to help look into what these drugs were? Crazy!Sherlock and myself tossed around the idea of taking some blood samples. If you have more ideas or want to help out, that'd be great.

[Huh. She recognizes him. She's not going to say anything about the burns just yet. Because the whole blood tests thing makes her wary.]

Are you okay?

Yo, Doc, can I talk to you? Like in confidentiality? It's kinda, uh... I think I did something.

Nobody died, right? And what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. So really, you were just doing your civic duty.

[Blood tests are always optional, as he won't be donating any of his blood to the cause either.]

I'm fine, thanks. I'm guessing this means that I... [God, she's a girl. Not that he's that sexist or anything, but the idea of attacking women leaves him feeling sick to his stomach because that? That is no better than his father.

He cringes, or winces, or both.] Are you okay? Did I... hurt you?

[Sounds like these drugs weren't very nice to people with rage issues. He looks pretty sympathetic as he nods.]

Sure, Kobra, of course. In person or over the network?

[That draws a laugh out of him.] That is one backwards, painfully optimistic way of looking at it. Do you feel stronger now?

What's with today and people calling me optimistic? I'm not optimistic.

When you take "I attacked some innocent people" and turn it into "you were doing your civic duty," that's some impressive positive-spinning. But you're right, I should be careful before throwing around such insults. [He grins because he's kidding with that, but only a little bit.]

If we can't handle one of our own getting a little belligerent, we're never gonna be able to handle whatever's coming next.

[ He's quiet, but only for a moment. ]

Good news, bad news. Which you want first?

I think I might have hurt you worse. I'm just bruised.

[Is that hint enough, Bruce? She doesn't quite want to say out loud what happened, not knowing exactly how private this really is in this batshit place.]

[...Bruce's expression falls, but then he presses his lips together again as he regroups, and when he lifts his eyes back to the communicator, he's braced for whatever.]

Bad.

[ He feels like he's always the bearer of bad news. Like he's the harbinger of doom. But he's bringing it up because someone has to and if Bruce doesn't know, he needs to be made aware of it. ]

Steve's gone.

[This isn't the first time Bruce has lost Steve, but he was closer this time after living with him. He sighs deeply and ducks his head, letting the news settle. Maybe wherever he is, he's saving Peggy and going home. There's an optimistic thought.

Less happy: what if he went off into the woods half cocked looking for Peggy?]

Any sign of a struggle or anything? He just disappeared?

The crazy didn't get to me and I'm pretty sure why. So, I guess, for the greater good and all that bullshit I can give you something to at least compare to. A clean sample. [Shrug.]

[He narrows his eyes; he was bruised in a few places and roughed up, but the burns on his arms had been the worst damage.]

Are you a kung-fu master? [That one's asked with a light smirk, but then his expression shifts to something more probing.] Or something else?

You caught me. I'm Bruce Lee, reincarnated. [And as joking as her tone sounds, she shakes her head slightly even if it is quote clearly a joke.]

I'm something else. A pyrokinetic. You're the first person here that I told, even if I did demonstrate first. [A pause and Charlie ducks her head some.] I'm sorry about that, by the way.]

In person, I guess. I'll come to you, okay?

[ A little while later, he shows up at Bruce's door. His throat is covered in fading bruises and his hands are neatly-bandaged. ]

You alone?

[ Tony shakes his head, and for all that the news is bad, he doesn't look unduly upset. But then, he's never been one to be obviously upset around other people. ]

No signs of struggle. No note, no nothing. I thought maybe he went off chasing ghosts, but I looked around. Took a walk around town. I couldn't find him, which means he's either hiding or he's...

[ He shrugs. ]

Wherever people go when they're not here.

So, since we weren't properly introduced, I'm guessing you're Dr. Bruce Banner? I'm Jubilee.

A pyrokinetic? I haven't heard that one before. [But he's heard a lot of others. He's not judging or freaking out, and he's glad to have had those burns explained, frankly.]

Don't apologize. I'm fine, and I'm glad you fought me off. I, um. Well, I have this thing where sometimes I turn into a giant rage monster.

[He doesn't like telling people, but he was outed here. Might as well.]

Like, actual monster. So I'm glad you burned me.

Hi, sure. Come on in.

[He takes in Kobra's bandages and bruising with some concern that he turns into a smile, and he gestures to the living room.]

Have a seat. You okay?

[Bruce's eyes narrow, his mouth tightening. He knows where people go when they're not here. At least some of them, anyway, if not everyone that disappears, and he wouldn't be surprised that they'd want to test Steve. He gives a short, curt nod and then gestures with his other hand.]

What's the good news, then?

Peachy fuckin' keen.

[ He sits down, but he's stiff and not at all his usual relaxed self. ]

I think I killed someone.

Oh, yeah? That is interesting. It's bothered most everyone else, I've gathered.
