001 Video | Day 45 | Oliver Sumner
[Static flickers, the image of what looks perhaps altogether too much like another corpse visible between the stuttering lines of interference. This corpse, however, is not a familiar one. The view is pointed upward, showing the body to be that of a man, leaning against a tree near the edge of the forest, dressed in slightly ratty, Victorian-esque clothing and spattered with blood, oil, grease, and gods know what else. Though the picture sometimes cuts back and forth to black and white, there's enough time with color to show that his skin is tinged an unhealthy shade of yellow which has gone a little green in places, including along the edges of the dark circles that mark his slightly sunken eye sockets and around the bruises visible through the scruff and stubble along his jaw. Creamy, off-white lines and crusted smudges mark various wounds, all of which appear to be in some stage of healing, including the most prominent of them, a thin line that spans the base of his throat, just above his collarbone. It's obviously fairly fresh, even though it's already closed over, as it's one of the injuries that looks somewhat raw at the edges.
Now, squint and you might almost be able to tell that-- oh, yes-- yes, he's breathing, before the video is consumed by static and the audio picks up a thick, British accent draped over a raw-throated voice.]
Hn? Well, this is-- interesting.

I seem to have died and descended into hell. [Insert the sound of frantic motion as he tries to remove this device until pain happens and muttering.] Christ on the bloody cross.
audio:
...that is genuinely the most accurate description I've ever heard of this place and you've only been here a few minutes. Nice. I'm impressed.
video (sort of):
[He has no control over the fact that the video flickers in and out, like his communicator is a living thing, as it probably would have been back home. He apparently just has that affect on technology these days. What it shows is a look of exhaustion but his lips do twitch at the odd compliment.]
Though I seem to have lost my hard-won freedom, my descriptive accuracy remains intact. [A pause, then a helpless, choked laugh.] I feel as if I'm conversing with my own hand.
video (sort of):
I can always come to you. I need out of my house, anyway. Have you noticed the cameras, yet?
video (sort of):
If you wish. I have no means by which to indicate precisely where I am, of course.

Rest assured, I have heard far worse.

video (sort of):
Past that, I'm afraid that's all I can tell you.
[Really, she's just stuck on the fact that she's once again at the mercy of douche bag scientists.]
Did you hear anything about a house for you to stay in, yet?
video (sort of):
["Scientists" he wouldn't understand but he's been at the mercy of "gods" who were quite painfully active in his life. Her question, though, brings up a very new topic.]
To be quite honest, I had yet to consider accommodations.
Re: video (sort of):
So, forward as this may sound, I have room in my place. For now,t here's just me. I'm in ten.
( video )
( video )
I-- Yes. Yes, I suppose-- I suppose I do.
[He'll just be closing his eyes and raising his other hand to pinch the bridge of his nose and rub at his eyes, as if such actions might make this all go away.]
( video )
( video )
As you may have noticed, I am not in the fittest shape. Was that enough?
( video )
[ And he'll head in that direction! It doesn't take him very long, since he mostly jogs to the edge of the forest. Have a 5'9 hoodie'd tattoo'd slightly sick looking dude looking for you, Oliver. ]
( video )
[Jesse is, admittedly, a jumble of the unfamiliar but everything is unfamiliar to Oliver, including grass and trees and a blue sky and pretty much anything that isn't made out of iron, stone, and glass. So hello! Oliver definitely looks even worse once you can actually see all of him but he's cheered enough by the sight of a real person, in the flesh, that nothing else particularly matters right now.]
( action! )
Jesus, you look like someone put you through a meat grinder, dude. [ A beat. ] Oh, right, fuck. Name's Jesse, I don't think I mentioned. Good on you for not dying, like I asked.
[ He tugs at his hood. ] Anything broken? Can y'walk?
( action! )
Call me Oliver. I cannot, at this point, express the pleasure of meeting you.
[That said, he takes a look at himself and, perhaps for the first time, really evaluates the damage.] I'm fairly certain nothing is broken, exactly, though a few things might have been more recently than I'd like to admit. Walking may be a pain but not a problem.

Oliver, huh? [ He offers a hand. ] Mm. Your choice to trust a stranger or no.
[private]
Do you need help?
[ Yep, she went and did it. ]
[private]
I am hardly capable of considering how one might be best helped in such a situation as this. [A pause is followed by a tone of apology.] Though I do appreciate the kindness.

hopedthought he would die, to be entirely honest.]I have recently been through something of a war. [His speech is slow, thoughtful, as he takes stock of himself.] I suppose it might be in my best interest to let someone at least evaluate some of my injuries.
[private]
...Is anyone else with you?
[private]
[He considers this for a moment, long enough to take a look around himself. The question doesn't particularly strike him as odd, given personalities he has dealt with in the past, nor does the thought of mentioning--]
I believe someone may be on their way, however.
[private]
[ It's a strange mixture of relief, and potential nerves that washes over her at that news, but...she has to find out who it is first. If it's someone she can leave him with, that's great. If not though, she'll just...have to find a new solution. ]
A name, brief description? Anything.
[private]
A young man. Dark hair. He appeared somewhat ill, though likely quite a bit less so than myself. That is, unfortunately, the best that I can provide.
