Memory 2 || audio || Day 73
Good day -
I am looking to trade some items if anyone is interested. I have snared a few hares and one wild boar. In exchange I am looking for:
- Some pots and a frying pan
- tarpaulin or heavy canvas
- various lengths of ropes
Even if you have nothing to trade I've caught more than I can eat on my own so any assistance is appreciated.

[Honestly, he'd give them without an equal trade. Wallie's that sort of guy.]
What are you up to that you need that for, can I ask?

[All right, maybe he was imagining grand plans.]
What about the tarp and the rope?
no subject
I'm building a shelter. Rope would speed things along some.

[He raises an eyebrow, crinkling his forehead tattoos a little.]
Are we shorter on space than I realised, or are you just trying to get away from the cameras?

[He sighs heavily.]
If you need a place to stay, there's an empty room here. I can looking for tent materials, though.

[He'd do it for nothing, honestly, but he knows he could use some extra food, just like everyone here could.]

[ He's got a suspicion, but he doesn't want to say it first and sound stupid if he is wrong ]

Cooking, shelter, than sort of thing.

I don't know about the ropes or anything, but I can probably find you a few pots and pans. [ If not from his own house, he has no problems with taking them from an empty one. ]

As I understand it you're also interested in gardening? Because I found a patch of wild leeks here if you were interested in harvesting any of them.

This is actually quite a nice little spot.
--> action
Isn't it? I've always liked the woods.
no subject
[ Perhaps that came from never having been in woods of any kind, before boarding school. Once he was there, the one time he'd really gone out into the woods, he'd found a dead man, been accused of murdering him, and thrown in a jail cell for a fortnight. Not exactly an experience that encouraged further incursions. ]
[ He comes closer, giving the boar corpse on the ground a conspicuously wide berth. He sets down his armful of goodies on the tarp that is already spread out, in a neat pile. ]
A little while ago, though, they did some experiment on us, made us into mythical creatures and things. Not sure what I was, exactly, but I ended up sleeping in the woods for a week or so. Being in houses just felt... wrong.
no subject
Mythical creatures, was it? Just when I thought I wasn't in The Bannus field anymore.
[After all, it wouldn't be the first time it had done that, as evidenced that a a few days ago Mordion was looking much scalier.]

[ Ned sits on the ground a few feet from Mordion, arms wrapped around his knees loosely. ] But yeah. Vampires. Nightmare eaters. Werewolves. Not all of them were dangerous, though. Someone I know turned into a tree spirit. Couple people who weren't humans turned into them. I ended up with healing powers and- [ He plucks one of the apples from the pot, holds it up to show off to Mordion ] - I guess, some kind of magical green thumb.

When I was last on Earth, I was sent to investigate something called The Bannus Field. It had been turned on, perhaps accidentally and perhaps on purpose, but could be quite dangerous unless dealt with. I myself and the... employer of mine I was traveling with were both caught in the field.
It has a way of... manipulating the surroundings, making things seem not entirely as they appear. It especially fond of playing events out of order, and tampering with people's memories. It also turned one or two people [him, in fact] into dragons or other mythological beings if it help further its plot.
I believe these were for you.
[He hands over a fat bundle of leeks, all the pale green-white that lets you know they're just perfect.]
I could show you where I found them if you wanted any more. I'm a little jealous of that power, to be honest, horticulture is not anything that's come easily to me.
no subject
I didn't even know that kind of thing was possible, til I came here. Wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes.
[ He accepts the leeks gratefully, with a smile and a nod. ] Oh, this should be plenty, for now. As far as that power goes... I miss it. Have to grow things the hard way, now. [ And, he thinks, his own, less enjoyable power had been restored to him, but he's still reluctant to mention that to Mordion ]
Even if farming's not your thing, clearly you're quite a skilled hunter. [ His gaze flicks over to the boar, and then back to Mordion again. ] That's useful, here. Particularly if you're going to be camping out like this.

I've seen a lot of the world, and yet I'm always finding things I thought were impossible only to discover later that they weren't. Granted, I may have known of them and forgotten.
[He goes back to his fire now. It's something easy to keep his attention, something so he doesn't have to look too heard into someone's eyes.]
Yes. I'm very skilled there.
no subject
[ Ned realizes a moment later that he might be asking unappreciated questions, adds hastily: ] Sorry, you don't have to answer that. Being nosy. Bad habit.
[ He quickly casts around for something else to say, a topic change should Mordion wish to avail himself of one ] I hope you don't mind, I brought you a blanket as well, and a couple other little things. Are you sure there isn't anything else you need? Even if you prefer living out here, no reason to go without stuff, if it's easily accessible.
