If some celestial being had come up to her and said, 'Hey, can I hijack your body and soul for a couple years', she would have wanted a time reference. Allowing someone (or something) to use her body didn't mean she was giving up her life completely and she had to wonder if the host actually knew what was going on around him and how long it had been.
