Hey. It's me, obviously. Um, I was just thinking since there's new people arriving here and I know I haven't actually gotten to meet about half of the people currently here, maybe we could have a sort of... bake out?

I'm planning on going fishing today, so I could plan to grab enough for anyone wanting to come. I'd really like to see who's here that's willing to try to get together to figure out what exactly is going on and what we intend to do about it. We might be stuck here, but there's no reason we have to be secluded while we are.

[Except for hunters. Dean, this means you.]

I just think we might want to start acting a little more like we're all stuck here together instead of having ulterior motives or ones that, you know, completely screw with people when they go and do things by themselves.

[This might be directed at the Doctor and anyone involved with the event that had her freaking out like any animal during an earthquake/natural disaster. She was very not happy with you.]

It may be ridiculous to ask, but, hey, why not, right? If anyone wants to come, please do. If not, that's just more fish for me.

[The 'lady' made her grin widen and she ducked her head to hide it.]

I don't, ah--calorie consumption isn't--well, it's not a necessity for me, per se.

[ A beat, wherein Hal suffers an epiphany much like another person would experience a blow to the skull. ]

Unless I could convince you to stay for dinner. I do find comfort in the ritual.

[ Is this more silence? Is it even more awkward now? ]

Although if you're proposing a gathering one assumes you'll have eaten already, that is--forget I said anything.

No, no. I'd be okay with coming up. I usually have a pretty healthy appetite.

[Thanks to a super heightened metabolism, she could eat two to three times as much as an average girl her size, more when she needed to heal after too many shifts.]

Besides, it's not like I'm going to just leave you up there all by yourself, right? No brooding allowed.

No brooding, you say. I'm trapped in some unholy version of a fishbowl with dozens of innocent people who wouldn't so much as have time to blink if I turned on them, the world I left behind trembles on the verge of a vampiric apocalypse determined by the fate of an infant, and I can't seem to tune into Radio 4 anywhere.

You'll pardon me if I've chosen brooding as an alternative to the nearest patch of sunlight.

[ Not that sunlight ...works. On Hal. ] Besides, it's not brooding, it's--musing.

[Fortescue is drinking, a lot, because the Barrier separated her from her soul and, while she has the connection back, it's taking a while to fully heal. But that doesn't mean she can't respond to a message.]

I think that sounds like a fabulous idea, love. If I were in better shape, I'd help you with the fishing.

Oh, that's not necessary. I've got that covered. But, you know, if you think you're up to it, I'd love to see you there? I can cook a pretty good fish.

[She can't help but feel touched that someone wants to see her somewhere. She chuckles.]

And I'll try to make it if I can. Any particular location?

I was thinking of the park. It has a gazebo and benches. I could make a little fire pit and we can have a cook out.

It's a turn of phrase. I'll be frying the fish, but I just thought maybe people might want to bring whatever they could.

Well, hi, new person. I'm Riley and... huh. That's a good question. There's a park with some tables and seats, so that might be a good outdoor spot.

[He looks sheepish over the lack of introduction on his part.] Sorry, Markus Rathbone. Or just Rat. I know where the park is. Is this going on now, or later?

Oh, probably not until tomorrow. I need to know how much fish to catch and if I should try for something else. [Like a rabbit or something not fishy for those that couldn't or wouldn't eat fish.]

I think some kind of informal get together for information might be a good idea. I'd like to know what's been going on with the others here and if there's been any progress in figuring things out.

How many do you think would turn up? [ And then share? Obviously Lydia had nothing to share, but some she wasn't sure if they were the same or would just keep information hidden ]

Honestly? I have no idea. It could be one or two, or it could be more. I'm hoping for more, since I really think we need to see where it is we all stand.

This is a good idea, love. And I think I trust you with fire, so far. I'd like to come, but I'm...just a bit off, still. [His vessel's eyes can see again by now, but his trueform is still nearly blind, and it's distinctly uncomfortable.]

Hey, Balthazar. I'm... good. Better, at least.

[She had no idea about how badly off he was, but she'd probably find out when she bullied her way over to feed him. Because that was a thing that was going to happen, Balthazar. Deal with it.]

How about you? Seems like everyone really got screwed up and I haven't seen you around. How about I bring you some fresh cooked fish and whatever else I can scrounge up? I could drop by the bar and grab something for you?

Better than what? You weren't injured? [Have some genuine worry. He'll feel bad if his buddy Whiskers got hurt and he didn't even notice.]

I lost my vision when the barrier broke. It's still coming back, and I feel off-balance. Also slightly sore, but I'll get over that, too.

Oh. I don't want to take food out of someone else's mouth. [Since he doesn't need to eat and all.] But if there are leftovers, I wouldn't mind a visit. Or a cold beer. [The smile is audible.]

Injured? What, no. I just... I had a mild to not-so-mild freakout when it broke. [More like not so mild. She'd hidden under her bed for half of it and refused to come out.]

... You lost your vision? Balthazar...

[There's concern, irritation, censure, and affection all wrapped up in that tone.]

Why didn't you call me, you jerk? I'm coming over right now.
