002 Video Day 78

[Jubilee looks fresh as a daisy. Her hair's up and washed. She's munching on something. Her feet kick up behind her.

For those that are really observant, though, there's the faintest trace of red in her eyes, and just the hint of strain around her mouth.

She at least swallows her mouthful before speaking.]

Logan is gone. I still have the pups, but he's... he's gone.

If any of the newcomers are lookin' for a place to stay, I've got a spare room. Bonus if you know how to cook.

[ Sharon cues up the feed, but she can't do more than stare for several seconds. ]

Gone.

Yeah. Haven't seen him... in a couple of days anyway.

[She sounds unworried about it, even though she really just wants to curl up with the pups and cry.]

[ Sharon continues not to move for a while, and then her entire body flinches as if preparing for a flurry of activity. Mostly, it looks like she's about to try to hit something. ]

Goddamn it.

Who's with you? Besides the pups?

[Jubilee isn't impressed with Sharon's outburst. After all, Logan is hers, and no one else's. Deal with it.]

Just me and the pups.

Do you- Do you want someone with you?

[ After all, it isn't like someone would be waiting for Sharon at home. Natasha and the Doctor have both disappeared. ]

[No. It's automatically on her lips. She doesn't want a SHIELD agent here. She doesn't want someone with no powers here to realize that she's vulnerable right now.

Hell, she'll take Magneto over a flatscan.]

[Sharon doesn't waste time signing off. She just goes over and let's herself in.]

I should warn you. I'm shit at comforting people.

[Jubilee is curled up on the couch between two direwolves. And she's not moving. She does, however, snort.]

I was raised by Wolverine. Do you really think comfort is a normal thing for me?

[ That earns her a ghost of a smile. ]

Guess not. Does this mean I'm going to have to stop you from drinking everything in town? Or did he teach you to deal with things better than he did?

[Because hell yes, she's drinking herself into oblivion tonight.]

So... that's a no. Go beat the hell out something, or get drunk. They did call me mini-Logan for a while.

I can't imagine why I might worry about you, then.

[ Hear that, Jubilee? That is the tone of sarcasm. ]

Aw, it's sweet. But I'm a big girl. I promise not to blow up any houses.

[She even makes the scout salute.]

I don't see why you couldn't. Don't they still repair everything we damage?

Diner's still a pile of rubble. And didn't they used to drop food? Not running the risk of getting our shelter taken as well as our food.

[Never mind that she couldn't light a candle right now.]

Mmm. Sometimes I wonder how they're deciding what to fix and what not to.

[ Her grin turns wry. ]

Maybe their budget got slashed.

[ Government bureaucracy joke. Those are always hilarious. Or at least Sharon thinks so. ]

Well, at least they don't have their hands out. Though, I did arrive sans credit cards. Man, Warren's going to freak if they mess with his credit rating.

[Rich kid joke.]

They're evil scientists. I bet the credit rating is going to be the first thing they go for.

And maybe taking his credit cards would teach Warren not to get kidnapped by evil scientists. If he ever ends up here.

[ She's not sure, but she thinks she might have just ruined the mood. ]

You do not know how evil it is to mess with Warren's credit rating. Because then Bobby gets involved and no one is safe.

[Ever. Jubilee shudders melodramatically. One of the wolves growls in his sleep and rolls over when Jubilee scratches his head.]

And if Warren showed up here? Dude. I'd still starve. Warren can't cook.

Neither can I, unless you want stew or a sandwich. Well, stew. I wouldn't trust any bread that's still around.

[ She watches the wolf warily, only relaxing when it's rolled over and relaxed again. She'd feel better if it were Logan here with the wolves, but what can she do? He's gone, just like Steve. ]

You know, SHIELD should run a cooking class. Or something. I mean, seriously, there's gotta be someone around here who cooks other than metal head.

[Not that she's turning down latkes anytime soon. Not if he's making them.]

Wait.

Magneto cooks?

The one at home does. He used to make stuff for Kitty all the time. The one here claims he can. I've yet to taste, though.

[She stretches, ignoring the grumble of the wolves when she makes herself more comfortable.]

[ Sharon makes a face. ]

I'm not sure I'd trust this one to cook. We've had... difficulties. For some reason I don't trust him as much as he feels I should.

[ MAGNETO IS AN IDIOT. ]

[Jubilee stares, then starts giggling.]

Sorry... sorry, just some things never change. He's Magneto. He's not going to trust a SHIELD agent. You gotta know that, right? He barely trusts me and I at least rank on the mutant scale.

I know he has trust issues. It's just- [ Sharon tries to think of how to say what she's thinking - i.e., that Magneto is a freaking asshole whose head she wouldn't mind smashing against a wall a couple times - and fails to think of a nice way to phrase it. She shrugs. ]

At least the Professor can help keep him in check.
