[Fortescue doesn't look as tired as she should be, but, then again, she's used to not getting much sleep. Comes practically in her job description. She's perched on the end of her bed — Jazz in her lap and regarding the device with a small amount of interest. And though she's wearing a bath robe and warmly covered, jury's out on whether she's wearing anything else.]

Are you tired, Cape? Because you've been running through my dreams all night.

[She allows herself a tiny, tiny smirk for that one.]

No, but... really. I adore you all, but a lady needs some private time once in a while.

[That's what Fortescue clings to, although her worst jokes are usually just to torment someone who isn't in the Cape. Gotta start making up for it. She smiles.]

If it makes you feel any better, I can't cook worth a damn. ...although if my roommate stays gone much longer, I'm going to have to learn. But no, I seem to wander willy-nilly across the dream landscape.

Eh, cooking's obsolete. That's why they've got frozen dinners, so that doesn't count.

[ ahhh, you know. charlie could go for a frozen pasta right now that sounds great. ]

Run into anything worth seeing? Everyone around here can't be having nightmares a hundred percent of the time.

Too bad we don't have any of that around here.

[Luckily, she has a talent for fishing and roasting fish can be her next hobby if push comes to shove.

On Charlie's question, she pauses, wondering how specific she could get. For privacy's sake, she keeps it vague.]

Oh, a few interesting memories. Most of it is just... confusing.

What do people eat around here, then? Since I'm assuming we haven't all evolved to the point of osmosis.

[ because that's a safer topic, right? and not just charlie fishing for a reason to keep talking because turns out deep talks about personal issues is a little much for a first ~~date~~. ]

But nothing too bad, I hope.

[Fortescue smiles slightly.]

There's a dwindling number of supplies, things that people hunt in the forest, and I and a few other people fish. Some are starting to farm.

Assuming most are pitching in, we should be all right.

I've never even held a fishing pole before.

[ someone's starting to feel really useless. ]

I mean, I've held a wii fishing pole but that doesn't really count, and even then I was awful at it.

[Technically Fortescue uses her magic to get the fish, and she definitely does not regard that as cheating. But she knows how to fish the regular way, too, thanks to a pond in her backyard as a child. And plenty of boredom, and also a precocious younger sibling.]

A what fishing pole?

[Does not compute! Her smile broadens a little, though.]

If you'd like to learn, perhaps I can help. Though if this all continues, I might start nodding off in the middle of putting a worm on the hook.

[ hey fortescue you wanna teach charlie about that magic of yours because she would very much like that. ]

A wii fishing pole! You know. [ she waves her hand around like she's holding a controller. ] It's a gaming system.

You'd teach me? [ exactly this face in the icon. one hundred percent. ] Well, if you wanted to nod off I wouldn't mind too much. Last I checked, fishing wasn't too intense of a sport.

[She watches with a slight frown until Charlie mentions the gaming part, and then nods. While she didn't have access to those, herself, she's a denizen of the telenet. Or the internet, as Charlie knows it. She's aware of gaming.]

Ah, I see. I don't think we have that, where I'm from.

[Then she chuckles.]

Fishing is more of an excuse to drink and get away from people, as I understand it. And yes, I can teach you, if you'd like.

[Why not, when your student's as cute as Charlie?]

It's really not that difficult. The important part is patience.

Seriously? [ which would make sense but sometimes charlie still has issues wrapping her head around things like that. ] Wish whatever teleported me on over here could have at least given me that. I couldn't traded lessons.

[ it's one of those rare things she's totally ace at, after all. ]

Drink and be alone and you're cool with doing it with me? [ like a date? yeah? maybe? :DDDD? ]

Is there some reason I shouldn't be?

[It's a gentle tease, and she winks.]

I could certainly use something to do other than shout at my roommate.

Not that I can think of.

[ ah, yes, that is everything charlie wanted to hear. have a smile for that wink there. ]

I would gladly act as a distraction from roommate-issues.

I literally have nothing going on every. So that date for this date will have to be up to you.

[She chuckles quietly.]

All right, love. Let's say we give it a few days, hope this place lets us get some sleep, and then go out on an expedition.

[ wow charlie you just said date three different times in the last twenty seconds or so calm down. ]

I mean- yeah. I'm kosher, or. Good. I'm good. With that.
