I know Section 12 Subsection E Paragraph mrmrm [24 mumbles this because he doesn't actually remember the number.] of the Guild handbook states that any kidnapped henchman should be allowed to record a tearful message pleading with his boss to have mercy and save his worthless life within 48 hours of his capture, but can we hurry it up?

If The Monarch thinks I'm dead and not being being held prisoner, they're going to give away my room in the cocoon. I'll have to sleep in the basement with the new recruits. Do you know how many of them have nightmares? I'll never get a good night's sleep again!

[He doesn't understand why he sounds like he doesn't believe him. This is basic stuff.]

Raids. Defending against attack. Getting killed by Brock Samson.

Who's Brock Samson? [ Is the question he asks instead of how this guy could've been killed and brought back. That one, at least, is small potatoes to Dean by now. ]

All right, I wasn't the one who got killed by him, but he's still the greatest menace to henchkind out there. He's the Ventures' bodyguard.

[venatical]

Man. [ This might be it -- the moment Dean tips over into believing that in some universe, there are superheroes and supervillains and henchmen and capes, there are probably capes. ]

What's it like? Being a henchman?

It's not bad once you get past the death and pain. A lot of sitting around and waiting for something to happen. It beats stocking shelves at a grocery store.

[venatical]

[ Dean is decidedly disappointed. ]

What about the superheroes? What're they like?

[Well, let's just pile a little more on.]

The guy The Monarch arches isn't a superhero. He's just some scientist. He used to have his own TV show when he was a kid.

[venatical]

What? [ THIS IS BOGUS ]

The hell are you fighting some old scientist for? What the crap kind of evil villain gig is that? You've gotta be kidding me.

You get an arch-nemesis and you arch him. It's how it works.

[venatical]

Sounds stupid. [ And so disappointing. ]
