001. [Video/Action] Day 103

[ Since his arrival, Sam hasn't really made a post to the network. He's been feeling like literal Hell, and there's only so much time during the day he feels up for even talking to people, much less making very public posts asking for information.

It goes against his training, honestly, but there isn't much choice on his part. He fiddles with the communicator for a minute before finally thinking 'screw it' and turning it on. ]

Hey. [ The most eloquent of openings. It doesn't help that he looks a little ragged, and he coughs for a second to try to clear his throat. ] Haven't had a chance to meet everyone yet, but we'll get to that later. Right now, I wanted to know if anyone has been keeping any kind of records on this place.

[ He's hoping for someone who has been meticulous with the notes, but he isn't raising the bar too high. Any info is better than none, and while Dean has been there for a while Sam still wants to see what the others have to say, what their experiences have been. ]

If you wouldn't mind sharing, give me a ring. We can meet up somewhere, compare notes. I'd like to get a better grasp on what's been going down around here.

[ Like that whole sea monster business. He may have been passed out for the majority of it, but it's not exactly something that's easily kept quiet, you know.

Now his request is finished, he hesitates. He knows there are people there he'd like to see - Ellen and Jo pop up in his mind - so in a way, this is announcing his presence so they can get in contact. Getting a feel for the others trapped wouldn't go amiss, either, so this post has several valid reasons for being made. It has nothing to do at all with the fact he could be going a little stir crazy...

Okay, there's that to factor in, too. Clearing his throat again, he fumbles for a way to end the post. He'll just end it on a sharp nod. ] Thanks. [ He cuts off the video. Now all he has to do is see what kind of response he'll get, and he'll go from there. ]

[Boy, why the hell haven't you been to the bar yet? Someone better start talking fast.]

... Sam?

[ He's really starting to hate this place. First he's pulled out a pretty big revolution in his world. Then he's kidnapped by creepy scientists and his housemates are just whisked away? Finally he's taken by a sea monster and rescued by two angel dudes he just doesn't get. Alec's really starting to think he's cursed in this place. The only saving grace is that he has two super hot roommates now, but he still hates this place and the stupid old guy with his face. He's mostly just offended that these people keep seeing him as mini!Dean and not his own person.

Alec doesn't know why, but he switches on his video. He's lounging on his couch comfortably and he's not a hundred percent sure where the girls are. Allison's probably batting her eyelashes for a bow. Anita? He doesn't know where the hell she's gotten off to. Doesn't matter. He's not like gonna go out of his way to find her just yet. ] The only info you gotta know is this place sucks. I've been kidnapped, my housemates taken and I was grabbed by a sea monster.

[ It's one thing to know that Ellen is there, whole and alive. It's entirely another to see her and hear her voice.

Give him a second, Ellen, he's probably staring a little before coughing again, his mouth curving up into a smile. ]

Hey, Ellen. Been a long time.

[ For him, anyway.

And it's entirely possible that he's up and getting ready to go out in the town, as it were. Mostly so he can make a beeline to her location. Seeing her face to face is just something he has to do. ]

You at the bar? I'll come by and we can catch up.

[Damn boy, it's good to see you okay. Pardon her, she has to not... well, Ellen doesn't cry does she? Nope.]

Yeah, I'm at the bar. Home away from home.

[She needs Sam to come so she can make sure he's okay... and he can see the symbols all over the bar too, whoops.]

Better stop by quick. Don't make me come find you.

[As threats go, it's damn weak.]

Not, um- written-down records or anything. I've been meaning to come up with something like that, just never seem to get around to it.

[ Which is in itself a bit pathetic: it's not like Ned is lacking for free time in this place, but it always seems so daunting, thinking about putting it all down on paper. Any time he's attempted it he always talked himself out of it; who is he, after all, to come up with an official record? There have to be better people, more qualified people. Plus, he'd have to relive the unpleasant parts all over again. Which doesn't prevent him from now offering: ]

But I've been around for a while - I mean, not as long as some people - and I'm willing tell you the parts I know about, if... you'd like.

[ ....the hell?

It takes Sam a second or more to register this guy with Dean's face. It's like taking a peek into the past, though Dean usually had a little more of an arrogant aura in his earlier years (okay, maybe a little now, but that's just Dean).

Sam knows this isn't Dean, though, and he holds up a finger to tell the guy to hold up a second. He turns away, wracked by a coughing fit that helps him clear his mind, surprisingly enough. When he comes back, he looks a little less shocked.

He's still damn surprised, but he's going to tread carefully. There's no telling what the story is with this facetwin of his brother's. ]

Yeah, that's the picture I've been getting so far. You get any injuries from the monster? Your housemates ever get back to you?

[ The whole disappearing without notice thing is worrying, but maybe there's a pattern. ]

Yeah, I figured there wasn't much written down, or maybe everyone had their own notes they've been keeping.

[ Sam didn't expect someone to devote their time to it, not in a situation like this anyway. It helps him personally get a good feel for the place and what's been going on, so he's good with starting from scratch. ]

If you've been around a while, I definitely would like to hear what you know and what you've seen. Bet it's been a rough ride, huh? [ Sam's mouth quirks up into a half smile. Probably an understatement, he's sure. ]

[ It's actually a little comforting, that Ellen's taken up with the bar. Just like before, when they were only hunting monsters and saving people, not getting tangled up with angels and demons and God tablets. A simpler time. ]

You got it. Be there in a few.

[ And he'll cut off the video so he can head straight to the bar. And it takes a little more than a few, because even though he's been basically on bed rest for at least twenty four hours, he's still not up to par.

He's there soon, though, opening the door and taking in the decor of the bar before he spots Ellen. Excuse him while he doesn't do the whole 'hey how you doing' thing and instead heads straight for her to give her a big hug.

Sam can't do that every time he sees someone come back from the dead, even though that's not technically what happened. It doesn't matter, he's getting his hug in dammit. ]

It's good to see you, Ellen. Real good.

[ Hey Sam. It's that demon. You know the one who sacrificed herself for you guys. Still blonde - although dark roots are beginning to show and still looking pretty rough around the edges. ]

Well, well, well. Look what the cat finally brought in. Was beginning to think you were going to miss out on the party, Sammy boy.

Look at you, jumping straight into the nerd research. Try not to orgasm too hard over the library.

[ I hope Sam is prepared for the most ear-piercing screech he has ever heard in his life, rivaling that of even a banshee.

Seriously, this can't be happening. Sam is actually here. Here. And, sure, a giant sea monster just attacked a bunch of people, but Sam is here now.

And, well, so is Chuck, so Becky's a little conflicted there, but for now she's going to focus on the gorgeous ~~moose~~ man before her. She doesn't know if he remembers the whole marriage incident, so she's going to assume he doesn't just so things don't get too awkward. They'll probably still be awkward, but... ]

Dude, that's really disgusting. [ Alec winces and looks kinda disgusted when Sam starts hacking up a long off camera. What the hell was going on with that guy? Did someone give him the plague? He looked like shit. He actually looked worse. He looked how Alec felt after he did a tour in psy-ops in Manticore. Kinda grosser though and with that gnarly cough he couldn't be doing too well. Leave it to Alec to not ask about his well being though. If it doesn't directly concern him then he's probably not going to engage about it. Unless it continues to be completely and utterly disgusting. His interest will sky rocket.

He's not especially torn up over the disappearance of his housemates. They were in the same shitty situation as him, but he's not crying in his sleep over them. Mostly he's just worried about if it could happen to him someday. They can't just drop them off at home like nothing happened. That was so--lame. ] Nothing I can't heal from. Little water logged. Dunno about my housemates. I haven't put up posters or anything. Barely knew 'em. I moved though. Two chicks were nice enough to take me in.

[ Surprisingly, Sam's actually kind of glad to see her up and alive. Just a little, okay. It's hard not to be when she did take one for the team. A big one. ]

Looks like I got here just in time for some of the party. [ Sea monsters, seriously. Some party he was dumped into. ] Haven't been by the library yet, I'll be sure to...contain myself.

[ He's giving Meg a 'I don't get that excited over nerd things' look, though he is kind of itching to throw himself at the library soon.

....okay, he gets a little excited over nerd things. Shut up. ]

Are there even books in the library that will be useful? That's what I'm wondering.

[ That wasn't the reaction he'd been prepared for.

Sam knew to expect the unexpected - hell, it's been a life philosophy for some time now - but that in no way prepares him for the hurricane that is Becky.

Oh, he remembers the marriage episode. He'll be nice and just not bring it up...now or ever. Like, ever. ]

Hey, Becky. [ So, he might have cringed back from the volume of that greeting. What a nice surprise, thanks, Cape Kore. ] Ah -- I didn't know you were hanging around.

[ Looks like he has a brother to strangle. ]

What kind of records do you want? I have a full catalogue of everyone's misguided fashion choices and a comprehensive list of folks who're down for casual sex, so if you wanna run through those over a cappuccino sometime, let me know.

[Or, actually, don't.]

I think you can go through the backlog of all the entries on these handy little doodahs, but then I'm no Dade Murphy. [The picture freezes for a moment, though the audio keeps going.] Technology's not exactly my thing. [At which point the video comes back into motion, though now both video and audio are sounding rather static-y.] Especially not with the network on the fritz like this.

[ Hello, Roommate. ]

Oh no, you're not the researching sort are you? [ Eames is outside, smoking a cigarette. Because maybe the Cape doesn't have laws but they're ingrained into his head now.

There's just the slightest sarcastic edge to his voice but it's altogether still friendly. ] Am I going to end up tripping over tomes every now and again? Because I am delicate, I bruise easily.

Sam!

[He's raised some very good questions, of course, and if Jo weren't so shocked to see him in the first place, she might be able to make herself useful and give him a few answers. As it stands? Holy shit, Sam. He looks like crap. How long has he been here? Why didn't Dean tell her anything?]

Where are you?!

Sorry about that.

[ He's usually better about hiding his whole walking dead thing he's got going on, but he can't really be bothered with it right now. There's no cure in sight, and he's just gonna push through it. ]

Probably hard to get a lasting friendship out of someone if people up and vanish around here. [ And there's a brief pause when 'two chicks' are mentioned, and he's a little curious about that. ] The people you moved in with, would they happen to be new around here?

[ It's entirely possible there are places with two females living together, but Sam's thinking of Anita and Allison. They aren't all best friends of course, but there's still that bond of being the new kid in town. ] Sounds like you got pretty lucky.

Can't say I've really spent too much time checking out the library. Not really my kind of thing. [ And she's not exactly in any kind of hurry to get back to her page on the calendar since there's only pain and death waiting for her; so she isn't too inclined to help try and find a way home. She'll gladly take the mad scientists over death by Crowley if it's all the same. ]

I'm sure there will be something of use - and if not at least we've got fuel for the fires - or we could build a book fort...

[ Holy shit.

Sam doesn't know if he's surprised, annoyed or just flat out...okay, surprised works. It's surprised.

He may have a bone or two to pick with Gabriel on that whole Groundhog Day thing he pulled, or the TV Land adventure they'd been forced to take, but in the end he came through. So, maybe Sam's not really annoyed, but he is on edge. ]

I think I'll stick with just stuff that's written down. [ Har har, records and music he gets it. Gabriel's other suggestion is a good one, and Sam makes a mental note to sit down and try fiddling with the backlogged entries if he can. ] Good to know it's not always this crappy. [ Looonnnggg pause on Sam's end before he relaxes just the slightest. ] How long have you been around?

[ They are going to get along so well, it's inevitable. ]

Yeah, I kind of am. [ Sam's accepted his status as the one who's buried in books and research and whatnot. Not that his brother doesn't do his fair share, but Sam's always been the studious type. ] I clean up after myself, don't worry. I'll keep the tomes strictly in my space.

[ Well, for the most part. He'll make sure they aren't in the way, at least, that counts, right? ]

Still haven't got your story, when did you show up here?

[ Oh, good, because she doesn't want to talk about the marriage thing, either. She made the mistake of bringing it up when she first arrived, and... yeah. Good to know they're on the same page about never talking about it again. ]

Did you just get here? Are you okay? Where are you? I'm assuming you already know Dean is here, but so are Chuck, Ellen, Jo, Meg [ insert a grimace here ] — oh. And Castiel. [ Though she doesn't sound particularly excited about mentioning him. ] One of the archangels, too, and a girl named Charlie? I didn't know her, but she knew me, and you and Dean. I know there are a few others, too... It's a pretty big Supernatural family we've got here.

[Someone who wants to do research? Someone after his own heart.]

Written records're likely to be sparse, but I'd guess that between some of the people who've been here for awhile, and some of what we've seen, you can get a pretty good idea of what's happened. I've written some notes down, myself.

Hey, Jo. [ He's still looking pretty rough, but that's a genuine smile there on his face. ] I'm right outside the bar, actually. Been trying to get a feel for the place. You inside?

[ He is totally about going right back in there. It hasn't been long since he's sat down and talked to Ellen, but that doesn't mean he's opposed to visiting again so soon. They might get sick of him after a while. ]

My memory is perfectly accurate. If there is something you wish to know, and I'm aware of the truth, I can certainly share it.

Suit yourself.

[He shrugs, faux-casual.]

It wasn't usually. Who's to say it won't last? Maybe we ran outta fuel - wouldn't be so hard to believe, looks like we're running out of everything else.

[And that, well-- have a grimace. It's fake. He may not like being trapped, but he'd still rather be there than back home.]

About three months. Nearing three and a half, now. I-- well, since you bothered to ask, I'm guessing you've only been here a couple days.

[It sounds silly, but then, Sam had been there right from the start. At least, until he'd gone missing (presumed dead and nothing worse, for optimism's sake) two months or so back. Clearly this is a different Sam, but it doesn't hurt to check.]
