Alright, so Cape- Can I call you cape? We're not even on a beach anymore, which totally sucks since I was just getting used to this whole idea of Cape Constant Nightmare. I even made t-shirts.

[ cue exasperated sigh and overly dramatic eye roll. ]

Also, just for the record, when I agreed to go to Oz I did not sign up to come back here. Wherever here ends up...being. [ charlie loses a little steam, here, looking around her in every direction the camera can't see. she's fidgeting a little, mostly because she's in some creepy room all by herself. totally normal. completely normal. one hundred percent- ]

Not that I mind the redecorating - it's got a great Tomb Raider meets first Terminator vibe - but uh. What the frick, guys? Just. What the frick. Anyone want to give me the sparknotes version before I go completely insane? Yes? Maybe? IDK?

Yup. [ charlie is fairly certain that sounds a whole lot more badass than it actually does. oh well. ]

But back in my day- [ did she really just say that ] we had a beach-side view and a lighthouse to go with. It was all very New England, minus the crazy accents.

And you miss the beach?

[ Which could possibly be great except for the kidnapping section of it ]

Where are we? Or where were you?

More like I miss the fact I already knew therulesandcheats and codes to life in that 80s wasteland?

[ sheepish smile is a go ] I was setting up a D&D group and everything. [ sigh ]

And you know the thing about creepy labs? Every hallway looks exactly the same. I'm in what looks like a closet. Sorta. I think.

[ She wouldn't have thought of it, or probably even done it. Getting kidnapped and then setting up a D&D group? Different kind of people ]

Not really a fan of doing things the normal way.

[ shrug. though brownie points for at least knowing what D&D is ]

[ and then a moment for thought. ] All of it? We had a whole mind-meld Share Your Nightmares thing, there were explosions and things, a Sea Monster, a complete lack of anything edible so we ended up hunting a lot...

Oh! [ remembering what the cape was like triggers a question of her's, sorry emma. ] Do you know if there's a guy named Dirk Gently here?

I haven't heard of him.

[ But if he was here before she wouldn't have met him - she was new ]

Sounds like a lot happened, though. Is this all to do with the labs?

[intraining]

Darn. [ she makes something that very closely resembles a :/ face before she's back to the conversation, shrugging at her question. ]

Dunno much about the labs yet, but maybe? Has anything besides the labs happened since you got here?

I've kind of just done the waking up here. I looked around, tried to find someone. There wasn't anything.

[intraining]

Ohhhhhh, right, yeah. When I first showed up it definitely took me like, two months before I had any real idea what was going on.

[ nonchalant shrug. it's whatever man. ]

And with this place, we'll either find out exactly what's happening or we'll never know. It's never halfsies with this place.

I'd say the likely thing is never finding out. What's the point in telling anything to people you kidnap, right?

Unless it's something like 'we brought you here to do weird-ass experiments'. Didn't you get the recording thing?

I haven't pressed play on anything. Is that what it says?

Yeah, or close to it. Made it seem really Survivor meets Hunger Games except without the explicit rules or TV ratings.

Well hopefully there's nothing as drastic. It could be hard enough figuring this place out.

[intraining]

Hopefully.

[ a pause, and then charlie shifts. ]

Not that I'm complaining or anything, cause good on you if your whole thing is adapting and sorry if this place is like home but- you're taking this really well for just getting here.

My thing's adapting. [ It's had to be lately, anyway, although Emma's more skeptical about this than anything. Being skeptical helps her not to freak out ] Wouldn't call this anything like home.

Where are you from?

[intraining]

Well if you have to have a thing, adapting would help. A lot. Especially here.

I guess you didn't expect this on the end of your travelling.

Not really. Usually my traveling involves places that have wifi. And roads.
