001 | Audio | Day 147
[Ellen doesn't have time to figure out the video function on this thing. Her voice is extremely short and angry, barely controlled emotion leaking through. The last thing she knew she was holding Jo and telling a hellhound to go to back to hell.]
Where is she? Where's my baby?
[She's earned that much. She promised Jo she wouldn't leave her alone and she's not going to break that promise now. If this is Heaven, it's one hell of a disappointment, but she'll settle if it means she can have her daughter with her.
Her voice breaks.]
Jo?

Jo?

Well, well, well, look who came crawling back to the Cape. I'm sure Military Barbie Girl and the Winchesters will roll out the red carpet for you.
[ video ]
You dirty, demon eyed bitch! Where's my daughter?
[ video ]
[ So helpful, isn't she, Ellen? ]

[He pauses, then adds:]
Got any more of that moonshine? Personally I thought it was disgusting, but you gotta take what you can get round here.
[Which, of course, will make no sense to her, if she doesn't remember being here before. He doesn't know whether or not she does, and frankly, he doesn't care.]
video
What do you mean back? What is this place? And who the hell are you?
video
[He doesn't seem at all surprised.]
So that's another name to go on the list of local amnesiacs. Must be something in the water.

She flicks on her video feed, clothes currently glamoured to a fairly modern number with a rugged white longcoat. Rather than the armor.]
Don't worry. Jo's here.
Where? Is she alright?
[And given the nature of this place, she's probably still okay, Meja reasons. Bad things tend to happen all at once. And if bad things were happening, Jo is a friend and Meja would be there if she were needed.]
You should be able to reach her on this device. There's a directory, if you can access it.
[Relief is audible in her voice.]
Thanks. I'm Ellen. Her mother.

[Jo's voice is frantic as it comes over the communicator, cracking on that single syllable as she fumbles with the phone, unable to keep her hands from shaking in her hurry to get it working.]
Mom, I'm here-- where are you?!
[Audio]
[Relief chokes her and she lets out a long, shaky breath.]
I'm... [She glances around, moving to the door.] In some white hell hole. Looks like a hospital or a lab. Looks like someone's been nice enough to put my name on the door.
[But more importantly.] Where are you?
[Audio]
[She'd been in her own room, part of the suite they used to share, though she'd been spending less and less time there since Ellen's disappearance.]
Most of it looks a lot like a hospital, but-- if you stay put, I should be able to find you. Most of the rooms are close together.
Are you okay?
[Audio]
She paces the ground, giving a small huff and an unseen shake of the head at her question.]
No.
[But Jo is moving towards her, which must mean she's good enough to walk. That's more than Ellen thought she'd ever ask for.]
I'm good enough for now, I guess. What about you?

Only recently she had disappeared, and Sam's been worried that she had been taken by their kidnappers. His own experience with vanishing here hadn't been a picnic, and despite how worn he feels at the moment he needs to see her. Make sure she's okay. ]
Ellen, it's Sam. Are you okay? [ God, he hopes they didn't do anything to her. ] Where are you?
[audio]
[Forgive the mild annoyance, Sam. It's been a long, terrible day. That and she'd recognize your voice anywhere. You are family, after all.]
And I'm a lot of things right now, but okay isn't one of them. What the hell is going on? Did you get the devil? [She pauses and lets out a slow breath.] Some run down lab. Can't seem to find a way out of it.
[audio]
Damn. ]
Yeah, I did. Eventually. [ He sounds a little hesitant about this, since it was a few years ago. That's just not a conversation to have over the phone. ] This place is pretty huge, I'm sure someone will find you soon. Has Jo contacted you yet?

[ She disappeared not too long ago, and Chuck doesn't comment on her frantic nature. He knows first hand how much the scientists can mess you up. ]
It's okay, Jo's here. She's -- She's safe.
[ At least, given the measure of "safety" in Cape Kore. ]
Who are you?
Oh, uh, I'm Chuck. Chuck Shurley. We're, um. From the same world. [ He nods. ]

[ He'd noticed her disappearance, of course, and he's already left to wonder if she's lost or gained any memories like so many of the others. ]
Are you alright?

[She's glad to hear his voice. She wasn't sure what had become of him when he hadn't returned after leaving for the reapers.]
I don't know what I am. What happened to you?
