--Ahh, sssh, shhhh. [ There's a pause. ] There you are. I can hear you. Tap, tap, tap. Howling. Walls don't howl. Unless there's some sort of crack in the wall. Which, not the sort of crack I am thinking of...

[ The Doctor is seen placing his ear up against the wall and listening closely. A few might be able to pick up distant wails or growling. His eyes go up to the ceiling as he taps the wall with his finger every now and then. ]

Not good. Very not good. This is bad. [ He raises his head from the wall and rubs his fingers together. ] Okay. So, think, Doctor, think. Growling noises usually means animals. Angry animals. Animals that do not want to be disturbed. Probably because they are territorial or maybe because their wounded. If I was a betting man, I would say not wounded. Ergo leaving territorial.

[ He spins around, coat tails coming around him. ] Time to say hello to the big bad wolf.

Yes. I am. [ The tone in his voice tells one that it is not a joking matter. ] Cracks in the wall aren't just cracks, Fortescue. Cracks mean many different things. All of them are not good.

[ Then a beat and his mood seems to change. ] The good news is that these sounds have got nothing to do with cracks that may or may not be in any walls.

I'm not entirely sure that we have the same definition of good news.

[Killer dogs are killer dogs. But she'll give him the benefit of the doubt. He seems to know a lot more than she does. She'd watched him crack the barrier of the Cape.]

This is probably something put on by the scientists, or whoever's pulling the strings. Like all the things before it.

Bad news is that because it's not a crack they're coming from? Not sure how they got in or how to send them out. Makes it a bit harder and... well. Dangerous. [ He nervously scratches his chin. ]

I don't think it's always these scientists you are so willing to blame. The universe has a mind of its own sometimes.

Things end when they end, around here. [She shrugs her shoulders lightly.] Probably at night when we're all sequestered in our rooms. It's a little more comforting to blame the scientists, though, in all fairness. Especially given our previous contact with them.

Yes I... was told they are demonic pitbulls. [ Why pitbulls? ] Have your ears picked up anything about them?

I do not know what a pitbull is. A dog with horns, yes? [His ears stay stock-still as he listens, trying to interpret the baying calls.] They are eager. Yes, eager and....I do not know the word. Whatever feeling it is when an animal no longer fears anything else, 'cause it knows it is on top.

No. They're... ah... well. Mean dogs. With these funny faces. Remind me to show you a picture some day. [ Then again they might just look like pitbulls. No idea. He hasn't seen a hellhound yet. ] Alpha dog, Garrett. They think they're the alphas.

They do not just think they are alphas. They know. Animals without fear.... [He gives a shudder.] ...they are bad. At home, we would kill an animal like that.

Depends on how much they think they need for a hunting ground.
