[ Guess who's back from the dead? That's right, everybody's favourite resident demon! Of course, she's lacking a little of her usual sass and sparkle - apparently being thrown to the wolves - quite literally (if by wolves we mean hellhounds) - has that effect on a person. ]

Hello Cape Kore. Did you miss me? [ There's a smirk, but it's strained. ]

Did you get the stray puppy population under control while I was on my unscheduled vacation or you all still waiting for the dog warden to show up?

[She chuckles, playing with an end of the demon's hair before having another sip of wine. There's a wavering sort of movement to her hand, now.]

[ Somebody's drunk! It's okay Fort, Meg'll make sure you don't choke on your own vomit! That's what friends are for! ]

[Luckily for all involved, Fort is masterful at holding her liquor. She's put in plenty of practice.]

[ Yes! Yes that is exactly what Fortescue meant to say, right? Flirting is a totally acceptable post-drinking thing. Flirt more! ]

[Fortescue reaches the bottom of her glass with another sip, and chuckles. Flirting is always in season.]

We should. This place needs all the fun it can get. It's a shame we don't have the telenet — internet.

[ Yes. Good. Flirting is good! Meg approves. ]

The internet? Why? Wanting to download free porn and stream crap movies?

Why else? [She chortles.] There's also more things to read than can be found in the library. I think I'm almost through every book that interests me. Soon I'll be into what doesn't.

You might discover a new hobby, or you can mock the books - that's always fun. Definitely helps to pass the time.

Are you a big reader, then? Even as an immortal, I'm sure it would take a long time to go through every book printed. Even in one language.

I've done a fair amount of reading since I came here. Before I was mostly into gossip magazines. Had to broaden my horizons here - the magazine selection is severely lacking.

It makes up for it in cheesy romance novels though.

[Fortescue chuckles.]

Is there a decent selection of those? I can't say I've read too many. The gossip magazines might be more illuminating, around here.

There's a fair selection. Like most things around here though, they're better with alcohol.

[ And preferably a hottie to read with and have awesome sex with after. ]

I can only imagine. I've only read one or two, when there was nothing else to do. [Literally nothing. Fortescue keeps up reasonably with fashion back home, but you can do that from the telenet. No magazines required.] Are they all from Earth? Or some variation thereof?

That, my lovely, is a a good question - to which I do not know the answer. Next time I'm in the library, I'll be sure to look into it.

[Fortescue grins. It's rather lop-sided from the amount of booze in her.]

Do... I'd be curious about the answer. Not that it probably means much, but more information is always good.

Oh, a million things, darling. Truly. I have too much curiosity. Like that terrible nonsense about cats and death.

Curiosity isn't as bad as they make out. A little curiosity is a healthy thing. And it hasn't gotten me killed - yet.

I'm officially hiring you as the devil — demon? — on my shoulder. You're a lot more fun than the one already there.

[Fortescue gives Meg a playful, soft poke in the side, winking.]

[ Hey! No poking! Meg would poke back but she doesn't want Fortescue to puke. ]

I officially accept. Such a lovely shoulder it is too. Just make sure if you get an angel for the other one that you avoid the stuffy, boring saps with no sense of fun.

Doesn't that defeat the point of having the other one? [She pauses. Wait.] What is the point of having the other one? I should just give you both shoulders.

Good point! Who needs angels? [ You know, except Meg, since she's in love with one and all that jazz. ]

I'll gladly take both shoulders. More fun that way.

[Fortescue chortles quietly, a bit longer than she would normally, and winks.]

Exactly. We'll get a lot more accomplished without someone objecting every five minutes.

We should raise hell all over this place. It'd be fun.
