Sorry. Did I forget to mention I found a door to the outside?

I'm fairly certain you lot forgot to mention there are doors to the outside.

Now only if I could find out where I put it. This labyrinth is not very friendly.

It makes me wish I had magic for... memory purposes. [She sighs.] I'm afraid the closest I can recall is for dredging up buried, or repressed, memories. Not quite the same, I don't think.

[ Yes, well, humans. That's his answer for that. ]

You've got magic? [ Magic is just fancy science don't you know. ] No, no! I'm fine without those memories. I've seen enough of them for awhile now.

Runic magic. [Meja nods.] I've been trying various methods of escape with it. No luck, yet, but I'm not giving up. And I've got some magic around the plants in the lab, to make them healthier — and self-sustaining, to a degree, in case no one can get to them for a while.

[Not giving up is one of her better traits, she thinks. It doesn't matter who tells her she can't do something. If she feels strongly enough about it, she's going to continue until she succeeds.]

Everyone has got some sort of magic around here. [ He tosses his screw driver up and down in his hand. ]

We've got to find a way to make this place less...gloomy. Think they'd mind if we took out a few walls here and there?

You could always try. I'm sure they'd mind, but they really can't expect us to just sit around, can they? [Whoever 'they' are. Meja's not certain, at this point, if there are actual scientists behind this anymore. It feels a great deal more sinister than that.] Let's just hope there aren't more walls behind all of them.

I might be able to get the sonic to do a few things. It actually can put up shelves now... [ yes what secrets does this place have. ]

We'll take out those walls too.

The sonic?

[Meja blinks, curious. What on earth can put up shelves other than hands? She hasn't the foggiest.]

Sonic screwdriver. [ And then he brandishes it. Tadah. ]

So what does the sonic part do?

[Thankfully, she knows what a screwdriver is!]

Scans, anti-freeze, undoes locks. Still working on the wood bit. It does actually put up shelves! Reverses the polarity....

I'm surprised that they let you keep it. [Meja's grateful that they hadn't confiscated her weapons, but she knows magic weapons probably aren't, in the end, going to get anyone out of here. Not by themselves.] They must be confident that your sonic screwdriver can't get around any of their safeties.

Or I hid it very, very well. I can do that you know.

While you're unconscious and your things are being rifled through?

[She smiles. She isn't doubting him, necessarily, but some very private things have been removed by the scientists. Or whoever's in charge, now.]

You must be talented.

You would be surprised what happens when you have pockets that are bigger on the inside.

That's a handy trick. Not completely foreign to me, as a concept. [Meja chuckles wryly.] The Dwarves have deep pockets, and they don't let outsiders know how they accomplish it.

[Although most have guessed.]

Used to dimensional space tinkering, are we? [ Dwarves--dwarves! Actual dwarves? ] I didn't learn from dwarves. My people perfected the art ages ago.

[She smiles.]

The Nine Realms are... complicated. I imagine a scientist would have a field day with them. Worlds held in a giant tree-like entity's branches, technically separate but also technically connected. I imagine the Aesir are the only ones who've managed to figure it out in a way that makes sense.

I envy you, though. I'd do anything not to be familiar with a Dwarven drinking song.
