what is this / 01
[ The transmission starts off audio, a confused voice spluttering to itself as Stiles haplessly hits buttons on his communicator. ]
Okay, well, ya said Cape Kore like that means anything to me, but here's the thing, sucker, is that I've never been to a Cape Anything. --Who even lives near a cape, I'm not a cape kind of --
[ Video! It flips over and the face jumps and makes a few surprised shapes. ]
Well. Hello, guy. That just flashed. Nine-one-one? Hello? I'm, um. I'm not living here. There's been a mistake.

Well. Hello, guy. That just flashed. Nine-one-one? Hello? I'm, um. I'm not living here. There's been a mistake.

I've been here almost three weeks. I don't know how to explain it. I ... don't know.
[And she hates not knowing.]
no subject
[ Besides, there's a few more pressing matters to his life right now than the love of his life and a stupid hug. ]
You don't know. You really don't know? Nobody's said anything? Ransoms or something, right?
no subject
[She reaches out, taking his hand in hers and tugs him back towards her house.]
Come on. I'll make some tea and you can sit down. Oh, just... if my housemates are home, don't be weird. They're a little... different.
[Just like Lydia's a little different. Maybe even a little more comfortable with herself. Definitely happy, but also really concerned. Stiles shouldn't be here. None of them should be here.]
no subject
[ He's been noticing that, though - kind of hard to miss when he's spent half of his life pining after her and watching from afar. But she's holding his hand right now. If that's not indication enough that Lydia's done some real spirit searching here or what have you? He doesn't know what is. ]
[ His voice lowers to a mutter as they head towards the house, though; old habits, even if no one's around. ] My best friend's a freaking werewolf and you were banging a terrible lizard demon, Lydia, just how weird are we talking about here?
no subject
Try... a robot that passes perfectly as a human and two homeless, renegade, freedom fighters from an apocalyptic future California? Dan is nice from the start, Kobra won't be a problem either, just don't make eye contact with his brother. You'll know him when you see him.
[Oh, and also she's been living in a house with three guys for days. Yep. Definitely... not your typical situation.]
no subject
[ He could protest further in favor of his own argument, but he's a little distracted by these mini definitions of Lydia's new roommates that she's describing. His? Brother? Dudes? Did she say a robot? ]
Are you drunk? [ Seriously, is this her drunk because he's only partially familiar with the effects on her. ] You have a pet snake?
no subject
... Something like that.
[More pulling Stiles along like a five-year-old before they finally reach the door. She opens it and tugs him inside, tossing her coat on the arm of the couch.]
We could sit here or in the kitchen. Both rooms are hideously decorated, one room has a couch.
no subject
[ What the hell was going ON here? ]
Couch. Definitely couch, I need to- I think I need to sit.
[ He doesn't really wait to be led this time. He just plops right down on one of the cushions, in the coat and all. His hands keep interchangeably scrubbing worriedly over his head. ] We're being held in Asscrack, Nowhere and Lydia Martin is tutting over her interior decorating.
no subject
If you were stuck looking at it as long as I've been, you'd be tutting, too.
[But this is a lot. It's really a lot to take in. She'd had trouble with it more than once. Each new realization and every piece of information had her in a panic spiral. She purses her lips, breathing in through her nose before sitting next to him.]
Maybe it would be better if you told me where you want to start. I don't want to flood your already-hyperactive brain with too much information.
no subject
[ He could manage something vaguely offended at the brain comment, but seeing as his leg's jarring up and down and his hands don't know where to put themselves, well, it would be a bit of a vain attempt. ]
[ He makes a face instead, wetting his lips and peering over at her. ] Stories usually start at the beginning.

I woke up here almost three weeks ago in front of that fountain. There were a lot of us. Dan and Kobra were nearby and we started talking. They kind of... followed me home. We've stayed together ever since.
[She pauses, giving him time to process what is arguably the easiest information to take in.]
There are cameras everywhere. No way out. We've had a population of extinct wolves and wild cats roaming around. There was a concentrated earthquake. A box fell from the sky and inside was something no one expected. People have been taken by men in white...
[Her fingernails had been digging into her palms. She flexes her hands and sets them flat out in her lap, still not meeting his gaze.]
I don't think there's a simple explanation for this, Stiles. Wherever we are? It's not good. I don't think we stand a chance.
no subject
[ It read all over his face, that kind of faint disbelief that came with werewolves and kanimas and magic. It'd reached a point where he just rolled with all of the punches now, even the Silent Cabin in the Hills ones. ]
[ It didn't help that he had about a bazillion questions, half having to do with wolves and cats and the other half going WHAT'S IN THE BOX as loudly and Brad Pitty as he can, but he just leans forward onto his knees, hands folding together between his legs. ] Okay.
[ Just 'okay', and then, ] Earlier you started saying something, about how you don't even think this is in Maine.
[ He raises his eyebrows expectantly. ]
no subject
no subject
Um. [ Everything sounded nuts. He couldn't deny that. This place just looked like a little stupid town, why didn't anyone just GO? ]
Why- is that?
no subject
[Yep. Aliens. That's her theory. She might as well just give up, stop being hot, and run around wearing tin foil on her head while ranting about intergalactic beings and never getting laid ever again.]
Whoever is keeping us here has the technology to take whoever they want from anywhere they want. Stiles, do you understand what I'm saying? ... We weren't the first.
no subject
[ There it is, he's jumping off the couch for a second now, hands up and placating, beseeching, something, he's not really sure what he's trying to get at here. But there's an edge to his voice, a bit more of a panicked squeak that he's not bothering to contain because being kidnapped is one thing, but being kidnapped in space is something else entirely. ]
It just looks like a town! It's just a freaking town and I was just in my own bed, minding my own business, [ literally, but let's, not, get into that, ] and now there's aliens and superpowers and this is a whole multi-generational kidnapping ring? Lydia!
no subject
What do you want me to say, Stiles? Do you want me to lie to you? Do you want me to tell you everything's going to be okay and we're fine? Because we're not! This is what I've had to deal with for almost a month. At least here I have people that actually give a damn about what I'm going through!
[That... she didn't mean that. Of all the people to say that to, Stiles was the one that deserved it the least. She straightens, composing herself.]
I'm sorry you're stuck here. But you wanted to know. This is what knowing does to you.
no subject
[ Before he gestures a hand towards Lydia, sinking onto the arm of the couch this time. It's no secret that Lydia's little break wasn't handled with the kindest of care - between Derek and Scott and Jackson and, well, even Stiles didn't really have the time to give a shit about Lydia's moment of crazy. ]
I'm sorry. All right? You're kinda laying a lot on me here and you gotta, gotta know how it sounds. Seeing's gonna be a lot of believing on this side of the planet. But I wanna know. I wanna know. Like hell am I gonna go charging into something without figuring out all the last details.
no subject
Her head snaps up and her expression hardens.]
I know. I know it's a lot. But it's just beginning so you better get your shit together, do you hear me? I have to be able to rely on you and I don't need to be worrying about you getting into trouble every five seconds, got it? You should just... stay close. [Idiot.]
no subject
[ And Stiles' head rears back a little, between the tone and the look in her eyes right now. There's also the bit of the fact that Lydia's giving him the pep talk right now. That's a strange turnaround for him. Kind of trippy. ]
[ Besides. She said she'd worry about him. ]
Powers, right? You mentioned powers. What kinda stuff are we talking about here?
no subject
[There is no way in hell she's telling anyone about what Daneel can do. Not even Stiles.]
No werewolves yet, if that's what you're asking.
no subject
[ He pauses a beat to let the whole thing really sink in, trying to readjust his understanding of the word 'impossible' for the umpteenth time in the last year. Werewolves are starting to seem like old news. ] Jeez, who'd've thunk that that wouldn't be the weirdest thing on the table? This is, like, top shelf power stuff.
So now who the hell's Elle and whose puppy did she kick?
no subject
[And there's that trademark Lydia Martin smile. She's starting to feel like her old self again.]
no subject
Let me rephrase my question: How many of her puppies did you kick?
no subject
Enough of them, apparently. Just keep your distance. You have a knack for getting involved in stupid situations. [Ugh, he's really going to fit in with the other two.] ... What's the last thing you remember doing?
