video | 002 | early day 39
[ Just like everybody else, Jet looks tired. Worn. But he doesn't make mention of it, and he doesn't want to think about anything that has happened the past few days, let alone talk about it. Still. Some things need to be addressed. So he comes on the communicators, a bandana pushing his hair back out of his face, with his eyepatch on for the comfort of his audience. ]
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Jet. If anybody needs it, I have some measure of medical experience, which I offer to everybody here. No questions asked.
[ And now he looks away for a moment - but he has to look at the communicator for this news. It'd be disrespectful not to. His expression goes flat. ] Also... as of last night, Party Poison is - [ A pause. Just do it bluntly. ] - is dead. I thought there may be some who would need to know.
Thank you.

Meet by the fountain in like, ten minutes? I actually know where that is.
[ She's not going to wear the garish christmas sweater that Jesse found her, but there's a lot of old people's clothes on offer here, so after a moment or two of poking around she finds a cardigan a little more suited to the weather. Doesn't do much about the shorts, but she's getting used to it by now.
Besides there are more pressing matters, like Jet and the recent death in the town, and as promised, around ten years later she's walking up to the fountain with her hands wrapped up in her sleeves, peering around for the puff of hair that belongs to him. ]

And he's not used to the cold, except for the desert nights, but those, he doesn't often see. He's usually in the car, in a base, with his boys and warm. But he doesn't have his boys right now, and the bitterly cold air makes him shiver. He has two jackets on under his leather one, but it doesn't help so much.
He sits on the edge of the fountain, and when she finds her way, Jet smiles at her. It's a little empty, but it's a smile. ] I hope you aren't out here freezing just for me.

[ Hey at least they can shiver together, right? It's no desert back home, but she's still used to the kinds of temperatures she dressed for.
Her smile is still just as sad, but at least it's not as hollow as his, and that sight kind of breaks her heart a little. She's been in his situation, knows it all too well, and it's awful watching anyone else go through it. It's why after only one conversation she's standing here with him at all. ]
The waters pretty nice, if you want to go out that way? [ And maybe it's still weird, but Laura doesn't actually care that much, so she just smiles again as she pushes one of her hands out from inside the sleeve and holds it out to him. ]

The ocean is my favorite, really. We don't have anything close to it, and my coming here was the first time I had seen it. After you.

Yeah? ...Me too. Sort of. When I was a kid we went to the coast, but I was like. A baby. [ Shrug. She glances over at him as she walks and she's definitely making pointless chatter not to address the Party-shaped elephant in the room, but after a moment she reaches a hand up to rub the back of her neck lightly. She's all but staring out blankly in front of her as she blurts out quite quickly. ]
I uh, I lost people too. Family, and I had to...be the strong one too, or whatever. I just mean like, I get it? So if you want to talk about it or something, just...I understand. Like, I get it or whatever, so don't feel like you can't, okay?
[ And now she's just going to go ahead and fall extremely silent and keep on walking. ]

There isn't much to talk about. [ But he says it gently. ] But the offer, I assure you, is appreciated, especially when I'm a stranger to you. To be honest, this works as well as anything.
Thank you. [ He looks out in the direction of the water. ] ... I do like it, though. The water. I've always heard about the waves being calming. That's true enough, in the few days I've been here.

[ There is a point to this Jet, honest, she's just taking a massive detour to get there. The scenic route, if you will. She shrugs, shoulders hunching, and the pace she's speaking at picks up a little as she rushes to get it all out before she sounds like the most insensitive ass ever. ]
What I'm trying to say is, words and whatever, you don't have to talk. Like if you want to you can, but I get that...words don't help. So just, being is cool too. Existing. You know?
[ Please say he knows, please say he knows. ]

You're always taking care of people, aren't you? [ She smiles, and it's a little wry but mostly just sympathetic. She stops, turns to face him and fixes him with a serious look. This is a Very Important Question, clearly. ] Can I hug you? You deserve a hug.
