Right, so... Any conclusions on that earthquake? How trustworthy is this Maria? It doesn't seem very bright to plot an escape when 'they' are monitoring our every move.

And these hallucinations? Glad to know I'm not going to be thrown in a loony bin yet.

[He rubs at his eyelid, perhaps a nervous habit of his, before pulling his feet in and sitting up straight, looking dead into the camera.]

I know I'm not the only one different out of this lot, and I need help. 1. For the few that have talked to me and know of Donna Noble, don't refer to me as 'Doctor' around her, this is extremely vital. I'm John Smith to her. 2. I can explain why this is, [He licks his lips and narrows his eyes for a moment, clearing searching for the correct wording.] but it's all rather complicated. C.. No wait, was I using letters? 3. Backing up to my statement of differences, anyone have experience in telekinesis or for lack of better terms, probing one's mind?

The technology is rubbish here and for what I'm needing to accomplish would take me a very, very long time and it might be too late then.

My friend has memories locked away inside of her, specifically, memories of time she spent traveling with me. She knows of me, but she no longer remembers her actual time spent with me or who I really am to her. I have to avoid seeing her in fears of those memories killing her.

[He was sort of vague, but he was rambling and didn't really know how to go about it.]

I have the ability to sense and manipulate emotions in individuals. I'm not entirely certain of whether this would be helpful in terms of memories.

I confess this ability was not something I was originally designed to have.

Friend Giskard was given the ability first, by accident. He was given the care of Dr. Fastolfe's daughter when she was a child. Vasilia was a gifted roboticist in her own right, and she often experimented with programming matrixes of her own invention with Friend Giskard as the subject. He kept the ability secret for many years. When he ceased to function, he passed the matrix on to me. I am still relatively inexperienced with it, and it's not something with which to experiment lightly.

No, no I wouldn't expect you to, no... That's all fascinating, though. I've met some robotic species capable of free thinking and complex thoughts, but nothing with abilities that you've mentioned.

[The idea of robots as a species -- or, apparently, as several species -- in itself is a new one for Daneel. It's... peculiar, and doesn't properly integrate for him. Humans are really the only species he's used to thinking of.]

To my knowledge, I am the only one with such abilities, though in theory I would also be able to impress the matrix onto another positronic brain.

If it's permitted to ask, you speak as though you've encountered more than one variety of robot. While there are certainly variations in complexity and design to the robots with which I'm familiar, they have all been based upon the same basic positronic brain design.

I have, although I think they're more considered Cybernetic humanoids, and depending where in time you are, they did brainwash people and convert them into their 'race'.

It was all a bit complicated and jumping through timelines.

Your use of the term 'brainwash' implies that such a change was against their will. Such behaviour should not be allowed.

Unfortunately, it was. They tricked humans and converted them to their own schemes. However, I think that's been a thing of the past and it's all clear now.

Unfortunately, I'm not at all certain that my ability to affect emotions in your friend would have any effect upon memories, except to change her reaction towards them. Would that be of any aid in this circumstance?
