[ She's distracted, sure, but Anna manages to pull together something resembling calm and composed for her addressing of the network. ]

In light of everything that has happened lately, I wonder if it would be a good idea to set up some sort of system to check in with one another. Two or three people you let know you're still- [ don't say alive, don't say alive, don't say alive ] in town and safe. Relatively speaking. It might help us recognise when people are going missing, figure out patterns. It's just an idea.

I think now is as good a time as any to set up defences against my dear older brother. One less thing for you to worry about.

This 'Crowley'. Something tells me he's not as friendly as the other black eye we have here. [ Which, okay a little rude but look - Meg hasn't exactly given her much cause for anything nicer. ] Should we be worried?

Sounds like a good idea to me. It would probably look better if I didn't look like I had anything to do with it, though. Some of the kids still seem to think I'm their freaking nemesis.

I'll keep your approval quiet then, don't you worry. [ She's vaguely amused, even if the subject material isn't anything to be laughed at. ] I'm sick of letting it happen. We've got to start being more proactive about this. It might not help, but we should try, right?

[She hesitates, but in the end, decides to see it through.]

Anna. These are tactics meant to break us. I know you know that on some level, but I want you to know it on every level. This is one of the ways they're trying to break us. Whatever we do... They'll likely find a way to thwart us, even if it's something so simple as this.

I just want you to prepare yourself for in case things go wrong.

I appreciate the efforts, but I get it.

Well, he has a healthy loathing of Winchesters, which at least puts him in the 'probably sane' camp. On the other hand, from what I hear he makes Palpatine look like a nice old man, so I'm thinking we keep an eye on him.

Yeah, I was thinking as much. He doesn't seem quite so social. [ She pauses, frowning. ] Devils traps are probably going to do more harm than good, aren't they.

If we leave him alive, yes.

You think you can do that? Cas is more interested in hiding, and that doesn't exactly fill me with hope that we can.

[A shrug.]

Enclosed place like this, doing him in could backfire, especially if he weasels out of it somehow. I'd rather not have to kill the guy if we don't need to, but if we do...

[ Okay, that's good. She's got someone on board here, just in case. ]

You think we can make another deal here? Leave everyone alone and we'll leave him be?

Worth a shot. He can't possibly hate humans as much as Luci does, so if we can strike a truce with him then this guy should be a piece of cake.

Yeah. Yeah, this might work. What's our angle though, don't kill anyone and we won't kill you? It might be enough..

It's a good start. And if it doesn't work out, we can always move on to 'don't kill anyone and we'll stop hitting your kneecaps with icepicks'.

This is going to sound strange. Like, really strange. But can you just...please go with it?

[ Look, she's worried. She's trying to stay light, but it's not really working. ]

There are people here, who aren't quite all love and goodwill. I'd like to...make sure your house is safe. Is that okay?

[He laughs. Anna, he's used to strange. He lives with strange.]

S'okay with me, but this is the safest house on the block. You think anyone here's gonna take on all four of us? But if you need an excuse to come over...

[Just picture the grin, Anna. Picture it.]

[ She's about to launch into an explanation, but well...where would she even start? Besides, it's not like it's the best method of attack anyway. ]

Yeah, but you know I'd feel a bit better knowing that house is safe so it's residents can worry about more important things. No harm, right?

[ She shrugs, smiles a little and yeah, yeah she can totally picture that grin. ]

Just let me know when's good for you.

More important things? [Okay, okay, now picture him waggling his eyebrows because he still doesn't want her to see his face. Might make her change her mind about visiting.] Now's good. I got nothin' goin' on, Chiquita, even if I did, I woulda dropped that shit in a hot second for a chance at seein' that face. I'll be here.

Well I can't say no to an invite like that, can I? I'll see you in a bit.

[ And he actually does get a bit, since she walks over for once. A few minutes won't be life or death here, there's no need to take dumb risks.

It doesn't take long though, its not like its a big town or anything, and shortly after she cut her feed there's a quick knock at the front door. ]

[And Ghoul, being the gentleman that he is, shows up to answer the door with a smile... and a black eye, and a split lip, some bruises, a few cuts, and-- are those bite marks? He doesn't look too broken up about it. In fact, he looks pretty chipper! Actually, he's just happy to see Anna.]

Place is kind of a mess. Probably shoulda picked up a bit. Least you can walk in here without breakin' bones. Floor's pretty clean.

[ She's smiling when the door opens, but when she actually sees his face it drops into something more concerned. She steps forward quickly, frowning a little as she carefully touches his cheek. ]

Hey, what happened here?

[ She looks at him with a slightly raised eyebrow, and it takes some effort not to just heal it without question. She's trying to keep the supernatural stuff to a minimum, certainly around him at least. ]

[He recoils at her touch, mostly because he wasn't expecting something so tender. Shit. He quickly rubs at the back of his neck, trying to brush if off while gesturing for her to come in with his other hand.]

Tried takin' candy from a baby. Don't worry about it, Angel Eyes. C'mon in.

Candy from a baby, huh?

[ Anna frowns, but she'll drop it. Probably, anyway. At any rate it's a later topic, and she just nods a little as she walks inside. She pauses a moment, then clasps her hand lightly in front of her, not quite sure where to begin. ]

So look, I know you've got it covered and everything, but there's some people from my neck of the woods around town now. [ That's one way to put it, anyway. She shrugs, continuing carefully. ] Big players, you know? I'd just feel...better if you knew a bit about it, knew how to go up against ten. Just in case.

Baby had a mean right hook.

[Ghoul closes the door behind her and leans against a wall, arms folded over his chest. He looks amused, and just a tiny bit curious.] So you're gonna arm us against people like you? Won't that be armin' us against you at the same time? Anna, I don't think this is the best plan you've ever come up with. Might wanna think it through a bit more.

I'll have to avoid that baby then, won't I.

[ It's not like he doesn't have a good point. It's something that's crossed her mind, but at the end of the day the options left are pretty slim. She rubs her hand over her cheek, then just shrugs. ]

One of them isn't like, me. But the other, it's a little bit all or nothing, you know? I can keep all of the uh- family out, or they've got free reign.

[ She's keeping it light, keeping her commentary quiet because she doesn't want to make a big deal out of this, but there is some visible tension there. She's worried. There's too many powerful people here now, this is too small a town. They're all hanging onto these truces by a thread, it's only a matter of time before one snaps. She bites her lower lip lightly, looking at him, and then just drops her gaze to give a wry smile. ] I don't know what else I'm supposed to do.

[He's still not sure he likes the way she calls them family. If they gotta protect themselves against these people, Anna isn't like them at all.]

You're not s'posed to do a damn thing. This is going above and beyond at risk to yourself. This is more than the required material, Chiquita. Not so sure it's the right move... [Not so sure they're worth it.] But if this is what you wanna do, we'll do it. Tell me what you need.

I can't do nothing. You're going in blind here, trust me. With any luck you won't need any of this, we're trying to keep the peace. Worst case scenario though, I need to know people can hold their own.

[ it's complicated though, and she doesn't know where to begin without explaining the whole lot. Not that it would be such a sin for him to know, but she's enjoying her small shreds of secrecy. Not human any more, but at least not an angel. She'll hold onto it while she can. ]

There's another option. A uh - okay, just...go with this, but there's a symbol you can use. It's a bit grim, but it'll send me and mine away.

[Worst case scenario, he's familiar as fuck with that.] What kinda symbol? Also, there ain't no way I'm sendin' you away. This is strictly for the other ones and that's it.

Okay, there's not a lot you can do to beat an a- well, us. You can't fight them, so please don't try. This symbol though, it'll send them out of the area. Annoying, but it'll give you time to call me. I'll handle it.

[ She's not even sure if Ghoul - hell if any of her friends have made it onto Lucifer's radar, but there's no way she's taking that risk. ]

Do you have paper, a pencil something to write with?

[A what? Beat a what?! He doesn't much like her telling him not to fight these things, hell he doesn't even know what he's supposed to be looking out for yet-- but the thought of her having to handle it? Simultaneous feelings of 'yeah, we'll see' and 'daaaaaayuuummmmm' going on.

He maybe moves a little too quickly when she asks for writing utensils and paper, moving through the living room and clearing clothes off the couch so she can sit as he heads to his room to dump the laundry.]

Yeah, just a sec. Sit down, get comfy. I'll be right back.

[He grabs a few sheets of paper from Jet's stash and swipes various pens and pencils on his way back for good measure. He sets everything down on the coffee table in front of Laura, straightening with a small smile like a kid waiting for his gold star. Eventually he sits. Just kind of flops down next to her.]

[ It's so not the time or the place, but the way he rushes off with a handful of clothes prompts a slight smile as Anna settles herself on the couch. It's kind of cute, but there's matters to attend to. She's got to stay focused, she's here for a reason after all. He's not making it easy though, with that little smile that he gets when he returns. ]

Okay, so this is basically it.

[ She grabs one of the pencils off of the table and carefully sketches out the Enochian sigil. All business here. If she maybe winds up a little closer than before when she sits back with the drawing in hand, then that's obviously just a coincidence. ]

Here's the thing though - I told you it'd be grim. It's uh, got to be done in blood.

[ She cringes a little even as she says it, but he's believed her so far. That's got to count for something at least. ]

Who's blood? [And damn, this kinda looks complicated. He traces the outline with a fingertip, trying to memorize this thing.] Any blood'll do?

[Seriously, grim doesn't bother him. It's doable.]

Your blood. [ He's taking it better than expected and she smiles a little, tapping lightly at the center of the drawing. ] When it's done, you place your hand in the middle and it sends us out of the area. Disorientating, but it won't kill anyone. Then just call for me, I'll hear it.

[ She sighs a little, pauses for a moment and very nearly just tells him everything. It'd be a significant amount easier, that's for sure. Instead though, she shakes her head and leans in, pointing to different symbols around the main circle. ] It's not too hard if you break it up into sections. These three here, they're all the same. These two as well. This one is basically a three, and then you've got the big gun here in the middle.

Yes and I would prefer that you not tell him that I or Meg are here. He was a little angry with me the last time we interacted.

[ There had been talk of crushing Castiel in his teeth. ]

I'll keep it quiet.

[ At least one of them has the advantage of knowing him though. That's some small benefit. ]

What did you do to get on his bad side?

We were working together on something and I stabbed him in the back.

[ He almost feels guilty for that, but Crowley's a demon. He couldn't just hand that power over to him. ]

He's the King of Hell.

Look at you, dealing on the side. [ If Anna's taken aback by that statement, to her credit she doesn't show it. Instead she just gives him a light smile and keeps her surprise to herself. ]

So what can we expect from this guy, then? Can we contain him? Are the people here safe?

He's not above torture, but he puts his own safety first. I think if he understands that a step out of line will get him killed, he'll behave.

[ He frowns. ]

And I was not "dealing on the side". We had an arrangement and I decided that I didn't want to help a demon amass more power.

So if we can convince him we'll 'rain down the power of Heaven', we might be alright here.

[ Honestly, that's...a lot more reasonable than she was initially expecting. ]

Hey, look. You don't have to justify yourself to me. Your decisions are your own, I'm just a little impressed.

[ And maybe a little amused too. ]

He'll save his own hide over anything and anyone else. I can almost guarantee that.

[ He doesn't even try to hide his disdain at that idea. He can't even begin to understand not caring about principals that much. ]

I don't... know why you're impressed, though.

With any luck he'll take a truce, I'll keep you out of it, and we might be able to keep this up without the town getting levelled.

[ She's not exactly optimistic about that prospect, but it's better than nothing. It can only last so long though, surely something's got to give soon.

That's a later problem though, she'll deal with that when she gets to that. ]

I didn't know you had it in you, Cas. That's all.

[ Despite the rather dire state of the town their in, all these supernatural beings crammed into one small space with nowhere to go, at least she still finds a little time to tease a younger brother, right? ]

[ Castiel bristles. He wants to feel insulted, but part of him is just happy that they can be a little more comfortable with each other. ]

I've changed. I would think you, of all people, would understand that.

[ He smiles a little. ]

I understand what you saw in them now.
