Well, fingers crossed. I'm free now. Maybe we should leap on that while we have the chance?

[ Before another dead body turns up. Even if Bruce has his suspicions about who killed them both. ]

I'll be over shortly. You're at the clinic, right?

[She's knocking on the clinic door already anyway. One might suppose that she's been walking around town and just happened to be nearby.]

[ He looks up at the knock on the door and then smirks back into his watch. ]

I guess you'll find out.

[ Considering he heard the knock, the suspense isn't all that suspenseful, and he opens up the door for her. ]

Hi. Come on in. Have a seat if you want.

Thanks. [She stands awkwardly for a moment before dropping into a chair.]

I think it's best to disband SHIELD as we've been trying to make it work. Perhaps we'll keep it around as a more informal group, but trying to rebuild it as we had it back home? I have my doubts as to whether it will work.

I'll announce it tomorrow, but I wanted to tell what Avengers we have before I do.

[ He's surprised, but then not surprised; what have they been able to accomplish? ]

Makes sense. It does also make some kind of sense to still have a group that's working on planning things. There are so many young people here; it seems the overall atmosphere is becoming... I don't know. Accepting. I hesitate to say complacent...

[ But... ]

[ Sharon presses her fingers to her temples and rubs. ] Don't get me started on the young people. Turns out they knew where Phil was for a day, but they were so busy looking for a friend of theirs that they didn't ask for help nor let anyone know. I told Kenzi I wanted a word with her later, and one of the others chimed in. They apparently think I masturbate to myself.

[ She takes a deep breath and tries to put such concerns aside for now. There are more important matters. But then, there are always more important matters. How long can she last thinking like that? Nonetheless, it's true, and she has to focus. ]

Did I ever tell you that my aunt worked with the French Resistance?

[ He frowns deeply during the retelling of that, and he feels pretty distinctly that he's only getting one side of this story. Kenzi and Phil were close, and if the friend they were looking for was Galen, well, he's a friend of Bruce's too. ]

They were probably kidding on the masturbation thing, you know.

And no, you didn't. That's pretty awesome. Guess it runs in the family.

Yeah, I know. [ That doesn't make her feel any better, though. She's just so tired of their bullshit. ] They're upset, I'm upset, things escalated. Evidently, they don't like being called children, but they also don't like acting like adults.

[She takes a breath. The first one doesn't work, so she takes another deep breath before she speaks again.]

Something like that. I did become a spy because of her. But- Do you know much about the Resistance?

They have a lot on their shoulders. [ Kenzi has her arm; Jesse doesn't have Galen but he does have a ton of issues revolving around self-worth. Kobra's got anger issues that he isn't handling properly. That one's irksome, but Bruce is holding onto his patience, as it only seems fair. ]

Maybe all of us should get together and try to wipe the slates clean. [ Because Bruce is becoming town counselor? ]

Well. It involved resistant French people. Anti-Nazi, right? I can get behind that.

[agentx13]

[They might have a lot on their shoulders, but they certainly aren't carrying "responsibility." But her opinion doesn't show. She can't let it. She doesn't have that luxury right now.] Sure. You know, you're very different from the Banner I know.

When people with the French Resistance were captured, they were often sent to prison camps. They got the prisoners managed to set up intel networks between themselves and made sure all the prisoners were looked after as best they could. They even managed to sabotage the Nazis' weapons and such.

[She glowers at the comm on her wrist. Why does she feel as if they had it easier back then? She knows she isn't being realistic - the prison camps generally had more people and a greater threat of death. But the prisoners had also known what they were being used for - labor until they died. What are the people in Cape Kore being used for, though?]

It can't be that hard to do the same, right?

So the other me that you know is a jerk? [ It's actually kind of nice to know that in some timeline, Bruce manages to be a marginally better human being than in others. That's actually... really strangely good news.

He frowns and leans forward, laying his arms on the table and folding his fingers together. ]

What are you proposing? We're already linked up on these things. [ He lifts his wrist slightly and drops it back down. ] And messing with them is the quickest way to blacking out.

Are you kidding? He was a freaking asshole. Smart guy, but he always seemed to feel like no one was giving him the respect he deserved. He didn't get along very well with Tony or Reed, that's for sure. [And they hadn't gotten along very well with him, either. Sure, they'd had their moments, but SHIELD wasn't the one that had jettisoned the Hulk into space.]

[She studies her own comm, nibbling on her lip.] No. That's part of the challenge. Doing this with them watching.

[She takes a slow breath, her fingers stroking her comm as she fights the urge to try and take it apart.] I think we've been doing it wrong, though. The Resistance didn't try to recreate the outer world - they created a new world. In most ways, it was basic. Giving people hope and showing them they weren't animals and shouldn't be treated as such. But it was quiet. Under the radar. [Her eyes focus on the comm.] I think that's more in line with what we need right now. Not trying to establish a government entity that people feel is trying to control people. We're fighting amongst ourselves when we should be fighting our captors.

[ Doesn't get along well with Tony? Well, wouldn't Sharon be surprised if she knew what Bruce's personal life looks like at the moment. He's surprised at the news, but it dissolves into a privately amused smile that he stashes when she starts talking about how they ought to organize themselves. ]

Okay, I agree. I'm not sure I know how to start something like that. I'm guessing... hoping you have some idea?

[agentx13]

[She bites her lip, and for just a moment, her uncertainty shows.] That's part of the problem. There's no one to fight yet. We have extremely limited intel. We don't even know if we can trust everyone here. I think right now, the best thing we can do is be available to help, whether people ask or not. Set up a loose network of people who can pass along information. Not give up. That's the important thing.

[She hates that they can do so little; judging by how she glares at the wall, she doesn't care who knows it. Of course, it's possible she has a plan she just isn't willing to share around the cameras yet. But to all appearances, she hates being helpless, and there's nothing more to it.]
