011 || Sharon Carter || video || Day 58
Carter here. I realize many, if not all of us, are waking up somewhat changed this morning. If it isn't too much trouble, could you contact me and tell me what you've turned into? Some of the creatures we're turning into are potentially dangerous, which means trouble down the road.
Thank you.

My door is closed for a reason. You and the Doctor stay out. Not that I think the Doctor will have much trouble with that anymore.
Thank you.

[ And then she catches herself and grips his hands tightly to keep them still. ]
Steve. I don't think- I don't think you understand how difficult it is to maintain control, okay? Whatever I am, whatever I do, it... overwhelms people or something. Are you sure you can stop if you have to? [ Her eyes drop to his lips. He still looks like Steve, though she isn't in the mood right now to congratulate him on keeping up the guise. ] I really don't think I could if I wanted to.

[ He touches her cheek with his palm, innocent enough but hopefully they can just have a lot of these kinds of moments. ]

Her lips trail back upward, following a vein. She's still wrapped around him, and her hands stop gripping onto him and instead brush over his arms.
He's only Steve Rogers. But there's no such thing as "only Steve Rogers." Steve is... Steve. One of the best people she knows. Particularly this Steve, who hasn't seen three quarters of what her Steve has seen. He doesn't know what Bucky will become yet, he doesn't know that the enemies he's fought for decades, who have killed friend after friend, are still around. He doesn't know that pain yet. He still thinks losing his best friend and Aunt Peggy are bad enough.
Oh, God. Aunt Peggy. He still loves Aunt Peggy. Aunt Peggy still loves him. He isn't just food. He isn't just a source. He's Steve Rogers, and he's a good man who loves a version of her aunt and is loved by a version of her aunt. She can't hurt him. She won't hurt him.
She takes a shuddering breath and forces herself away from him. She clenches her hands into fists and gives him a shaky smile. ]
That ought to do it. Thank you, Steve. I'm- I- I'm sorry.

He feels a little like that right now, but he's not even feeling nauseous yet. ]
Are you sure?
[ Not that he wants to take this further, but he can. ]

[ She walks over to the door, taking deep breaths. She only starts taking lighter breaths when she realizes she's trying to track down his scent. ]
[ She forces a smile. ]
Thank you, Steve. I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. I'll... I'll talk to you when all this is done, okay?

Good luck.
[ He'd usually clap her on the shoulder or something, but that seems inappropriate, considering, so he just... salutes her, and then turns to leave. He could have done more for her. He knows he could have. ]
