Anna's missing, and I've tried to send her messages with no success. I'd make a joke about milk cartons, but I'm genuinely worried here, so any information is appreciated.

[He recalls at once hearing someone refer to Anna as 'Ghoul's girl'. Well. About time he heard from this fellow, then.]

Oh, that one. [There's a moment anxiety wherein it occurs to him to wonder whether Ghoul himself could have something to do with Anna vanishing.

But no. Anna's judgment is better than that. His tone softens minutely.]

All right. When did you see her last?

[The hell is that supposed to mean? Does this guy know? Who else knows? Ghoul barely knows--]

Day before yesterday. [A beat.] You just tryin' t'piece shit together, or am I a suspect? 'Cause people disappear all the fuckin' time. Even if you're watchin' close, they vanish. Can't even hold on, they just go. Like smoke.

At the moment, just trying to fill the gaps. I don't know if I like you, but from what I've heard, Anna does. That's a character recommendation.

[Of course, he has no idea about the demon thing during the species swap, either, but since he almost ate two out of three housemates it wouldn't be fair to hold it against Ghoul if he did.]

Primarily, I'm upset. The last time she vanished without a trace...nevermind, that's too long a story.

Hey, hey, no. Wait. Last time? I got time for stories if it's gonna help me get her back somehow. And if they took her, I'll march right the fuck in there, wherever these bastards are sitting, watchin' us on their TV screens, and I'll take her back.

But...how much has Anna told you about where she comes from? It's not my place to tell you secrets she hasn't.

Not much. [Not that he's been all that open, either. The past isn't as important as the present or the future. He doesn't like thinking about it. He doesn't like asking. From what Anna has told him, he can kind of guess, but he still doesn't know.]

Never told me what she was. But I got an idea... Sorta know what she can do. I know she's special. Know you got demons and you got angels-- ...

Look. I don't wanna know. Don't wanna hear it from you. You just tell me when she turns up and we're cool. How 'bout that?

[All right, he can definitely respect that. The conclusions coming together, as well as Ghoul's unwillingness to discuss them with anyone but Anna.]

She's special even for what she is. Just so you know.

I'll call you as soon as I see her. And if those bastards have taken her, I'll hold them down while you kick them. Deal? [Granted, they'd both have to get in line behind Raphael and Gabriel, but there might be pieces left.]

[He laughs, genuine but a little frantic.]

Yeah, deal. Shiny. [And Ghoul officially likes this guy. It helps ease the worry churning his stomach when he disconnects. They'll find her. Everything's gonna be fine.]

[Yeah, in turn, Balthazar's starting to think Ghoul might be all right. Here's hoping the good feeling, such as it is, remains once Anna returns.]
