003 | Chuck Shurley | Day 93

[ Good evening, Kore! Amidst all of the new arrivals that have been showing up is a familiar face. Or, well, it would be a familiar face if he hadn't been missing for about three weeks.

Chuck Shurley is standing on the edge of town, looking completely baffled and confused. Like he'd just found himself there without knowing how or why, and so he just... stopped walking. He's tired and he's sore and honestly, he doesn't feel all that great. All he wants to do is crawl into bed and sleep for a few days. He rubs his forehead and he blinks down at the communicator at his wrist for a few seconds. ]

So I, uh... I think I was just kidnapped? By... the scientists?

[ And if he sounds unsure, it's only because he is. It's like trying to remember a dream he had years ago - everything's all fuzzy. ]

Oh. My. God. Do you remember any of it? Was there any probing? Did they give you a lobotomy? Are you alright? Are you injured? Do you need medical assistance?

[ Today's almost like an episode of This is Your Life. Becky and Chuck? Dean's happier to see Chuck, even if it is his fault that those books are out there in the first place. ]

What the hell, man? You okay?

[ Oh my god, Donna, those are a lot of questions and Chuck has a serious headache right now. He squints down at her in confusion, because what? Probing? Lobotomies? ]

What? No. No, they didn't... I mean, I don't remember much. I don't know what's real and what I just made up, you know? It's all... fuzzy.

[ Hey, it's not like he wanted to write those books, okay? He would have been perfectly happy not being involved in any supernatural business at all, thanks for asking. ]

I... I guess? I mean, I feel like I just ran a marathon and then got beat up, but I don't think I'm... actually injured, you know?

[ Did that make sense? That probably didn't make sense. His head hurts. ]

If you think you were, darling, you probably were.

[Fortescue's expression is gentle. No need to jar the confused-looking fellow.]

Are you in one piece, at least?

[Really, that's the important part.]

Well, it's that or you were on one hell of a long hen night, and somehow I don't see that happening.

Are your marbles still all intact? Or are some missing?

You remember where the bar is, or you want an escort?

[Come have a beer.]

[ Yeah, yeah. They can talk about what happened with Crowley finding them and using them against the boys later. Dean's still glad to see Chuck. ]

So they poked and prodded you, you think? You remember anything?

What did they do to you?

[Introductions? Medical assistance? Not half as important as finding out thsi]

Do I need to come get you?

[ He's asking instead of just showing up, that's...something? ]

[ MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION YOU WILL BE ASKED ]

So are you a ~~Hulk~~ Bulk or a ~~Wolverine~~ Saberman?

[ It's not like he was given a crash course on what to expect when becoming a prophet. He's doing the best he can, okay?

Chuck's glad that Dean's still here, though. Dean might be frightening and intimidating sometimes, but he still feels safer knowing Dean Winchester is around.

He shakes his head. ] Uh, not much. Just bits and pieces, really.

[ Up until this point, collapsing into bed sounded like the perfect idea. But getting a beer? Sounds so much better. ]

No, I uh. I still know where it is.

[ She makes a very good point, and Chuck nods in agreement. He just... didn't ever expect to be kidnapped by scientists. He didn't think that was ever a thing that could actually happen to him. ]

Yeah, I'm fine. Just a bit... you know.

[ A bit off. Nothing a beer and some sleep won't fix. But he also feels a bit violated. Just a little. ]

[ Oh, Gabe. He missed you and your non sequiturs. ]

No, I... why would I be kidnapped for a bachelorette party? That doesn't even make sense.

[ For one, he's not a female. And no, that's not an invitation, thanks. ]

Uh, mostly? I mean, I don't remember being kidnapped. I was just... here and now I'm back, you know?

[ He appreciates the concern. He shakes his head. ]

I don't know. I mean, I don't remember much.

[ That is something! He greatly appreciates not being scared half to death by one of the most intimidating angels in all of creation. ]

Uh, no, I still remember where everything is. I just...

[ He's trying to piece everything back together. Do you have any idea how annoying it is, not being able to accurately remember something that happened to you? ]

What?

[ It takes him a second to realize what she's asking, and when he does, he gives a small laugh, amused. ]

Uh, no, I don't think I got superpowers.

Count yourself lucky then! Well, not lucky because you were still kidnapped which isn't lucky at all... anyway! My best mate, right? Yeah. He was kidnapped and he came back bonkers. Probably because he's not human or sommat. I dunno. Or maybe because he tried to escape and pissed them off...

Oh.

[ He frowns because escape attempt sounds familiar to him. He remembers having a meeting about an escape attempt, but not much after that. ]

He's that British guy, right? Or, uh. Not guy, I guess.

The Doctor, yeah. He came back cuckoo.

You have all your limbs intact, right? All digits accounted for?

[ ANYONE else would faceplam. The tic in his jaw, knitted brows, and bunched eyelid muscles are really Raphael's equivalent. ]

I'm more concerned about you making it back safety.

Jo and I are living here. Just walk on in. You just want one of the beers or you want some of the moonshine?
