Day 104 AM | [video]

[Dilandau's lounging at his kitchen table, nursing a steaming mug and propping his face up with his left hand. His hair is damp and loose to his shoulders and he's only in his lilac undershirt, but despite this he's made sure that he doesn't look dishevelled before he starts filming himself.

He sounds a bit bored as he begins]

The butterfly I'm barracking with hasn't shown his face for a while. Twenty-four, if you've moved out, come and fetch your stuff or I'm using it as fuel for my next bonfire.

[The view swings wildly, showing a neat kitchen and his armoured jacket slung on a nearby chair as he grabs his mug and drains it. When he swings the camera back to his face he's looking more awake]

Wallie, get your kilt on and come to our usual sparring spot in thirty miets. If we don't get that bulk of yours moving soon you'll go slack again.

[The jibe is in good humour, which shows in his sharp grin he flashes before he turns the feed off]

[The Doctor only recently had learned Wallie's name, and even though he and Dilandau didn't have the best of relations, he felt the guilt pull at his chest to break this news.]

Dilandau... I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, but Wallie died.... With the sea beast.

[He ddn't really know how to elaborate any more on that statement. Everything just fell flat.]

[There's a silence before he draws a shuddering breath]

That's a fucking lie.

[He sounds strangled, on the verge of snapping]

Mmm, no. I saw it happen; I'm afraid he's gone. I don't even know where the body is.

He wasn't one of the ones taken.

[It's unfair, too unfair. He can't stand it]

HE WASN'T ONE OF THE ONES TAKEN! Why would he go out there when there are gods here?!

IDIOT!

[The words come out before he could correct himself.]

Because he was selflessly trying to help someone in need, Dilandau. Isn't that a concept as a soldier you should understand?

[It was stupid of him to pick a fight, as it was a waste of his time. But he'd like to think this boy had more compassion than a Dalek or Sontaran.]

Soldiers who get through battles know that's the concept of a suicidal fool! He was a Sorcerer, he had brains, he should have been able to think instead of jumping in.

[There's a loud thump as he punches the wall]

If I'd known he thought of himself as some noble fairytale I'd have taught him common sense, not parrying dirty blows.

[A few more thumps, and then a door slamming as he leaves the kitchen and runs up the stairs]

[He was so much like a Sontaran afterall, and even though he couldn't be seen, he nods.]

There was nothing that could've been done. That beast was too fast and too powerful, Dilandau. Everyone who made it back alive should count themselves lucky.

[He certainly did.]

Did you see me by the ocean?! No! Because I knew if it could catch the likes of your demons, a man's going to be no use! He should have known that too and stayed away!

[Another thump as he slams his bedroom door open and then the wild creaking of springs as he throws himself onto the bed and starts punching his mattress]

He's an idiot and he deserved it! He deserved to die! He ought to stay in the sea and rot!

[He's a child. So much still a child as the Doctor listens to his anger spilling out on the other end.... And yet he didn't blame his reactions.]

I'm sorry you lost your friend, Dilandau.

[That earns a wounded shriek of rage]

I don't need your pity!

[And then the feed is turned off]

He can't.

[ The voice is quiet, and the face that goes with it sad, afraid. She'd been there, found him, and she wasn't over it. All of that couldn't be told from just one look, but she'd tell it if she had to. Or needed to ]

He's dead.

[The voice of his enemy he might be able to doubt, but having this strange woman back it up with that look on her face is too much not to believe. His own eyes widen, his face falls into an expression of strained disbelief until suddenly, something snaps. There's only half a second to see the look of feral rage that comes over his face before the camera swings as he punches the table]

No!

[He shrieks in rage and flings his cup against the wall. The view swings and blurs more as he throws his chair after the cup, kicks the table over and starts pummelling the cupboards, yelling incoherently]

[ Shit... Dean sighs heavily, and he's keeping his expression full of sympathy as he looks into the feed. It'd help if the feed wasn't wobbling occasionally and garbling every fifth word, but still. ]

I'm sorry, but Wallie didn't make it out of the water the other day. He... He died trying to save one of the sea monster's victims.

[The kitchen around him is already trashed and he's trembling with rage when he answers]

If he was stupid enough to dive in when we've got gods and angels here then he deserved it.

[The picture blurs as he spins and kicks the remains of his chair, shrieking like a wounded beast]

[ Whoa. Oh, that's right. This is the dude with the anger issues, isn't it? ]

Yeah, maybe, but those gods and angels have been hurt here before. It's this place that stopped them from being able to save him. [ Maybe; he's pretty sure. He's seen Cas heal worse. ]

[The anger issues also mean that the view is still blurring around nauseatingly as he yells]

Them being hurt is better off than someone else being dead!

Unless this thing could've taken them out too. [ Dean can't be sure. Cas can take a lot, but he's also died like way too many times, even back home. ]

Man, I'm sorry. I know how much it hurts to lose a friend.

He wasn't my friend, he was just an idiot who didn't deserve my time!

[He draws a sharp breath but slams off the video before it's clear whether it'll be a scream or a sob]
