[It's taken Meja a few days to poke at the device on her wrist. She hasn't owned a piece of technology in... well, it's been a while. It's also been hard to concentrate, while becoming accustomed to separation from Yggdrasil. But at the moment, the device is her best bet for getting a question out among everyone in the Cape. So, she flicks a video feed on — once she figures out how to do that.

Meja's sitting in the park. Her closed white cloak covers her leather armor, but the silver and vaguely wolf-head-shaped epaulets on her shoulders are in full view. She runs her free hand through her short hair, anxiously, as she speaks, a gleaming silver armguard around her forearm.]

Hei hei, everyone. If I understand correctly, we all have these devices. I'd like to ask a question, if it wouldn't be too much trouble. Has anyone seen an... unusually large raven about? Muttering to himself, maybe, or going after shiny objects? Perhaps reciting a morbid prophecy or two?

[...if he's stealing from these poor people, she's going to have a few bracing words for him.]

Wild animals do not make good pets, as a rule, no.

[You have to start somewhere, but still. Domesticating takes a long time. Starting them as working animals is best, rather than straight to the cuddle stage.]

I am from Midgard — Earth — originally. Norway. These days I am either in Andlang, or traveling the Nine Realms to go where I am needed. [She quirks a smile.] Doctor Doolittle has very little to do with it. I have been... long associated with wolves. [Which she finds a tad embarrassing, so she moves on.] Rest assured, I will be leaving those in the woods where they belong.

Dances with Wolves? [ ...is all Dean can comment on at first, yes. He has no idea what else is coming out of her mouth and isn't quite sure what to do with that yet. ]

And what do you do in the "Nine Realms" that people need?

[Short answer or long answer? Short answer. Definitely the short answer. Sorry, Dean, she doesn't get that reference; all it gets is a briefly raised eyebrow.]

I have been placed in charge of the well-being of Midgard. [Reluctantly. Mortal hero who disliked authority, now a general in the afterlife. Awkward.] And aid the others, as needed. Hopefully the Jotunn don't get any ideas while I'm gone. Generalløytnant Meja, at your service.

[ Dean doesn't look any more enlightened. Seriously is she 12? She doesn't look very old to him. Who keeps bringing all these teenagers and crap to this place? It just angers him, upsets him, because he knows what being dragged into this did to him, and he doesn't want that for anyone else.

Obviously it's too late for Dances with Wolves here.

Some things are triggering in Dean's memory, and Jotunn and Midgard roll around in his thoughts until he makes a connection. ]

Is this like that Thor stuff?

[Meja would look the opposite of impressed by being coined as twelve. Instead, she looks mildly resigned at the mention of Thor. Luckily, that whole incident was seven hundred years ago — and she doesn't hold grudges for anyone except Loki.

Seriously, does no one here know of the Nine Realms?]

...When I was a child, I learned it as Norse Mythology. It's anything but. [Okay, time to boil this down simply.] I'm a Valkyrie General.

[ Does he know what that is, beyond that Tom Cruise movie about Nazis?

He doesn't think he's ever killed one before. So no, probably not. ]

Uh-huh. You're going to have to be more specific. Do you get a big hammer?

[Luckily, since her arrival, she's had to explain this. So she simply quirks a smile, trying not to sigh.]

Valkyrie serve Asgard and the gods in protecting the Nine Realms, of which Midgard — Earth — is one of. We were all humans, originally, who died in battle protecting others and were brought back as immortal beings. [No rest for the weary.] As for hammers, no, we don't have any connection to Mjolnir.

[ Right. Sure. Okay. Actually, that dying and being brought back to serve in war and as a protector... Dean gets that.

And so she's immortal, probably not 12. These protecting gigs usually last a long time, until you die, but he guesses she really can't so... ]

I saw that once. Mjolnir. My brother used it to bash some assholes.

Really? It's missing, in our world, alongside some nasty rumors about dark elves.

[Which Meja knows to be false because, really? Dark elves, pick up Mjolnir? Who actually buys that rumor?]

Your brother must be a commendable individual, if he can lift it.

Maybe, but I think the rules got a little less strict when it made the transfer. He wasn't the only one carting around. [ That guy sold one-seventh of a virgin to try to get it, so. ]

So what's this raven you're looking for?

It's certainly possible. Such powerful objects often make their own rules.

[Just ask anyone who's had a runeblade for longer than fifty years or so.]

As for my raven, his name is Muninn. He's been following me for a long time, now. He was one of Odin's ravens, along with his brother Huginn, before the Allfather died. Muninn can travel between Realms. But I get the feeling that this isn't a normal Realm, to put it lightly.

I don't think there's anything normal about this place. [ Dean looks away for a second, and then back, eyes narrowing. ]

Truthfully? I don't think anyone knows what's going on. Not even the guys in the white coats. We're all chickens with our heads cut off here.

[Meja raises an eyebrow briefly. She's not immediately doubtful of that claim, but there are a lot of disturbing thoughts it brings up.]

You think our captors are just as in the dark? [Perhaps not literally...] Has anyone met one?

Think we all could have, when we get snatched up out of here. [ He thinks about what Cas told him about Sam, the last time he was here, and then quickly moves on. ]

But I'm talking about this piece of paper they accidentally left lying around up here. Sounds like there's this thing that's bringing us here, and the scientists are studying that. We're just the side dishes.

Ah, yes... the memory issues. [She grimaces slightly. It doesn't lift when he mentions the paper.] Did the paper elaborate on whether they're studying a... phenomenon, or a living thing?

A machine, actually. Sounds like they don't really know how it works, but it keeps plopping us down here. And maybe the scientists don't know what's going on, but they still don't see us as much more than test subjects or things they can use.

[ Dean is wearing a similar expression. He doesn't like being used for a nefarious higher purpose. ]

Oh. Terrific.

[Said dry as a bone. Bite her, technology. And entities who can think of others as playthings.]

So we're being held by idiotic technicians who don't know how to do their job. I suppose that's one step up from us being brought here by mistake.

Yeah, I thought an evil conspiracy was bad enough, but really it's just an evil pile of God knows what and no one knows what the hell's going on or what to do with any of it. Welcome to the Cape.

There's gotta be a way out of here though. They can't keep us here forever; they barely know how to tie their shoes, it sounds like.

[ He's being more critical than he ought to be, but he'd much rather believe the scientists are completely incapable -- or at least joke about it -- than think about how they might be finding a way to turn them all into some kind of army or weapon for whatever. ]

Well, being in a tense situation for the long haul isn't... an unusual situation for me, for the most part. [She smiles, shaking her head.] I'll help out as much as I can.
