[It's taken Meja a few days to poke at the device on her wrist. She hasn't owned a piece of technology in... well, it's been a while. It's also been hard to concentrate, while becoming accustomed to separation from Yggdrasil. But at the moment, the device is her best bet for getting a question out among everyone in the Cape. So, she flicks a video feed on — once she figures out how to do that.

Meja's sitting in the park. Her closed white cloak covers her leather armor, but the silver and vaguely wolf-head-shaped epaulets on her shoulders are in full view. She runs her free hand through her short hair, anxiously, as she speaks, a gleaming silver armguard around her forearm.]

Hei hei, everyone. If I understand correctly, we all have these devices. I'd like to ask a question, if it wouldn't be too much trouble. Has anyone seen an... unusually large raven about? Muttering to himself, maybe, or going after shiny objects? Perhaps reciting a morbid prophecy or two?

[...if he's stealing from these poor people, she's going to have a few bracing words for him.]

Nope, but if you're looking for oversized furry friends, there's giant wolves and tigers in the woods.

[ Dean smiles, even though he's not quite in focus, and his voice is coming out tinny.

This person looks new; he doesn't think he's seem her around before. They've gotten a few new people in here lately, and he doesn't really like it, not with this place kind of obviously falling apart everywhere. ]

I think I will pass, thank you. [Meja smiles wryly.] The wolves back home know me, but I doubt these will give me the same courtesy.

[And she'd rather not have to kill them.]

[Martha pops up looking a little surprised but friendly. Regardless of what they had discussed late the night before, she had still thought the woman was a hallucination. This... this was different. Meja was most definitely real.]

Good morning Meja,

A raven? I've not seen one flying around. He a friend of yours?

[ Dean groans, his expression crumpling, and it's not even all show or bravado; it's actual concern. ]

Don't tell me you're the type to make friends with these things because believe me, it will not work out for you.

[That's a good question. She chuckles, as she turns it over in her mind.]

Yes. Mostly. Muninn is somewhat vitriolic in nature. Perhaps it's for the best if he isn't here. [The complaining. Oh gods, it just wouldn't end.] But I thought I would ask, all the same, as he was with me when I was... taken. [A frown.] I believe.

[She resists the urge to roll her eyes, shaking her head instead. While she befriends things that others find monstrous - Fenrir comes to mind, certainly, and her dragon - she's never an idiot about it.]

The wolves I speak of are likely far different than the ones found in your woods. [Winter wolves wouldn't attack the residents without plenty of cause.] The Cape would not have such an issue with them. I take it you've had a fair amount of trouble with these?

They make chompy pets. We'll leave it at that. [ He does try not to give Cas a hard time about his ridiculous pet tiger though because he knows it bothered him to kill it. He should probably lay off now, too. Sigh. ]

So where do you come from? You a friend of Dr. Dolittle or something?

Wild animals do not make good pets, as a rule, no.

[You have to start somewhere, but still. Domesticating takes a long time. Starting them as working animals is best, rather than straight to the cuddle stage.]

I am from Midgard — Earth — originally. Norway. These days I am either in Andlang, or traveling the Nine Realms to go where I am needed. [She quirks a smile.] Doctor Doolittle has very little to do with it. I have been... long associated with wolves. [Which she finds a tad embarrassing, so she moves on.] Rest assured, I will be leaving those in the woods where they belong.

He probably didn't make it over then. I was with some people too, and they're not here either. Well, one of them is. But he's from later in my timeline.

[Sorry, Martha. Meja doesn't do a lot of time travel. Well. None.]

Perhaps that's for the best... He's not exactly easy to get along with.

Actually, you might be in luck. Last night there was all this commotion outside my window and when I opened it up to have a look it turned out to be a raven. Kept saying 'nevermore'. Sound like your guy?

Er... he's from my future. So he knows things that have happened later. He's a bit different from when I knew him.

[She nods sympathetically to the woman though.]

It's still OK to miss him.

Dances with Wolves? [ ...is all Dean can comment on at first, yes. He has no idea what else is coming out of her mouth and isn't quite sure what to do with that yet. ]

And what do you do in the "Nine Realms" that people need?

Ah. [She furrows a brow.] That sounds like it could be... tricky to deal with.

[Meja smiles wryly, imagining the fit her friend would pull if he were sitting here with her.]

Actually, he hates Edgar Allan Poe jokes. His brother thinks it's hilarious. I suppose if I were a talking raven, I'd feel similarly.

[Short answer or long answer? Short answer. Definitely the short answer. Sorry, Dean, she doesn't get that reference; all it gets is a briefly raised eyebrow.]

I have been placed in charge of the well-being of Midgard. [Reluctantly. Mortal hero who disliked authority, now a general in the afterlife. Awkward.] And aid the others, as needed. Hopefully the Jotunn don't get any ideas while I'm gone. Generalløytnant Meja, at your service.

If I were a talking raven I'd definitely be on the hilarious side. Sounds to me like you're looking for the wrong brother.

[But, given that she seems to be speaking Norwegian, the pair of talking ravens rings one particular bell rather loudly.]

Don't suppose either of 'em goes by Huginn or Muninn?

[She looks surprised for half a second, shrugging.]

That's them, all right. Huginn sits on the throne of Asgard with King Víðarr. And I was... 'lucky' enough to find myself with Muninn. But, he's handy in a jam. I wouldn't have minded having him along on this particular adventure.

[Martha laughs.]

He just has to avoid telling me things about my future. He's pretty good at it. Able to keep timelines in his head much easier than I can.

Well, that's good. Seems like it would be complicated not to accidentally blurt something out.

I'm sure it is. It's more difficult not to ask him about my future though.

Would he tell you? If you asked. [Meja's absolutely sure that she doesn't want to know about her own history. It might solve 'problems', but... it's a double-edged sword. Especially when you're immortal.] Some things are better left undisturbed.

[ Dean doesn't look any more enlightened. Seriously is she 12? She doesn't look very old to him. Who keeps bringing all these teenagers and crap to this place? It just angers him, upsets him, because he knows what being dragged into this did to him, and he doesn't want that for anyone else.

Obviously it's too late for Dances with Wolves here.

Some things are triggering in Dean's memory, and Jotunn and Midgard roll around in his thoughts until he makes a connection. ]

Is this like that Thor stuff?

[Meja would look the opposite of impressed by being coined as twelve. Instead, she looks mildly resigned at the mention of Thor. Luckily, that whole incident was seven hundred years ago — and she doesn't hold grudges for anyone except Loki.

...When I was a child, I learned it as Norse Mythology. It's anything but. [Okay, time to boil this down simply.] I'm a Valkyrie General.

[ Does he know what that is, beyond that Tom Cruise movie about Nazis?

He doesn't think he's ever killed one before. So no, probably not. ]
