I know that this sounds odd. [ And isn't really a question that people generally ask. Also what isn't odd, around here? It's her justification ] But with what's been happening I'd like to know.
[ There's a pause. It's a touchy subject, obviously, and she's not even sure where the conversations might go ]
I want to know about your experience with death. [ She's going to try and go slow on this. As slow as Lydia Martin wanting to know something can. But things are pretty messed up. She feels pretty messed up. And she'll even tell her reasons for asking if she's asked ]
Not just if you know someone has died but... if you've seen it. [ A two second pause ] Or nearly died.
It's happened here, and could have happened a lot more. [ If Dirk hadn't put out that useful message. People were still taken but at least they were warned ]
But- Can people come back? [ It might sound crazy, but it's happened before. It happened to Jackson - twice, although that was a supernatural thing. But it leaves the possibility, right? ]

- I'm going to the library. Hopefully it's as useful as it should be.

[And it doesn't take him long to get there, not when he half-runs the whole way, still zipping his hoodie up against the chill.]

When Lydia heard the footsteps she looked up, and stepped down from the doorstep to walk along a little to meet him up the path ]
Did you just run here?
no subject
No! Nooo. Jogged.
no subject
Are you okay?
no subject
[He stops, takes a deep breath.]
You?

[ Whilst Allison might have known what was going on (here, anyway) Stiles didn't. He knew it at home, but at home they knew things a little more in general. She didn't know anything ]
But that's what the library's for.
no subject
Library, great. Have you actually checked it out yet?
no subject
[ But this time Lydia isn't looking for fiction, so maybe things will be a little different this time ]
no subject
[He side-eyes her.]
What sort of fiction are you into?
no subject
Why?
no subject
[He pauses.]
Mystery can be good. But... it gets pretty same-y after a while, you know?
no subject
[ Yeah. She should have figured that, although it's her and Stiles and she's still not 100% used to the 'actual actual friends and talking' part. Especially since she's been here and he hasn't been ]
Like hardly having a break in Beacon Hills? [ Yeah she may have just compared their lives to a mystery thing, horror-mystery more like ]
no subject
Yeah, it's like very day is Monday. With double chemistry with Harris, and where gym class has been replaced with run-screaming-in-terror class. Some days you just need a Sunday.

[He gets it. It's practically his language.]
If we're gonna be comparing, Friday afternoon is the best. Like, right after school lets out and you're like "I have the whole weekend!"
And then Sunday night rolls around and you're just like "Hey wait I wasn't done with that!"
no subject
Then I'm permanently wishing for Friday afternoon. At least some days it gets quiet. [ And then some days she finds dead bodies. Such a Sunday night ]
