[Kobra's panting hard and wincing down at the little communicator.]

Can anyone who knows how to give stitches come to the church? I can't do it myself on account of it being my arm and also I don't have the supplies. I would kinda prefer one of the pretty doctors, if that's cool.

[He grins, but it's not totally there.]

Turns out I am not a dog person after all.

[He hesitates, more out of surprise than anything else, then continues cleaning out the wound while he answers.]

You're concerned about me because of what I explained about the Laws. Kobra, I won't deny that it troubles me greatly to see you in pain. However, I'm ensuring as best as I can that you'll recover fully. I'm trying to relieve your suffering, and I hope I'm succeeding. I'm well, Kobra. I'm troubled, as I imagine anyone would be, but I am well.

Well, yeah, that. But also 'cause you're my friend.

[He smiles a little.]

You're doing a good job, Dan. You're totally my hero.

[He leans his head on Daneel's shoulder, possibly making it a little harder for him to use his arm, but that's okay. Kobra's not in a rush to go back out there.]

[Daneel remembers to smile, and yes maybe Kobra's head on his shoulder is a little in the way, but he can't imagine making a point of moving him, either. Even beyond the First Law -- and embarassing or causing hurt feelings is certainly a type of harm -- Kobra is his friend.]

I don't feel like a hero, Kobra. I'm only doing what I feel is right. That is all I ever do.

[He pauses to moisten the gauze with more antiseptic and keeps cleaning, as gently as he can.]

That's what makes you a hero. If you were all [He does a weird voice.] Oh, I'm a hero. Look at me hero-ing. You wouldn't be a very good one.

[He turns his head to grin up at Daneel's face. Then he cranes his neck a little so he can kiss Daneel's cheek.]

You and Lyds are totally the Mario and Luigi to my Princess Peach.

[That's... surprising. No one has ever kissed him, and there are many reasons humans kiss each other and he doesn't know what the one behind this one is, but he takes it for what it is, whatever it might be. He briefly touches the back of Kobra's head; he would keep his hand there but he needs it to work. He tries not to dislodge him as he reaches for some bandages to apply.]

I hope that's a favourable comparison, Kobra. Thank you for it, if it is.

They're these plumbers who save her from a giant evil turtle all the time. It's pretty rad. I still miss video games sometimes.

[He holds his arm still for Daneel. The cut really wasn't that bad, at least, so he's pretty sure a tight bandage will be good enough, at least for now. It's not like he cares about scarring or anything. Scars are kind of badass, right?]

[He pauses for a moment. Unfortunately, cultural references from more than a millenium and a half in the past are inexplicable and somewhat lost on him. He knows all these words, but altogether they sound pretty nonsensical.]

I'm not sure what to do with evil turtles, Kobra, but I'm here for you if you need it.

[He finishes tying the bandage, but makes no effort to remove Kobra from his shoulder either, not until he's ready.]

I believe I've done the best I can for you. We can return to the house as soon as you're ready.

[Kobra hums in agreement.]

If there's evil turtles, I'm crapping my pants and then I'm grabbing you and Lyds and yelling for Party and we are hightailing it.

[In his mind, he is literally grabbing them as if they're cardboard cutouts. Totally realistic!]

I guess I'm ready. We'll just have to go fast, right?

[He grabs Daneel's hand as he sits up.]

I know you're supposed to put me first, but if you get hurt, I'm gonna feel like shit, so you be careful, too, okay?

[He doubts evil turtles are a real threat, but unfortunately he can't discount it either, not after the wolves. He squeezes Kobra's hand gently.]

I am hopeful that both of us will make it back unharmed. We should indeed move quickly, but keep a watch out for anything out of the ordinary. We don't want to be caught unawares.

[Honestly, he won't be happy until Kobra's safe again.]

Okay. [He stands.]

I'm ready. I'm a good running. Long legs. [Lots of experience.]

Let's go while it's still kinda quiet.

Let's go, then.

[He pauses at the door, struggling briefly with the concept of taking Kobra outside into potential danger. But no, this is necessary. He can't force Kobra to stay here; it would cause him more harm than good. It reminds him a little of Partner Elijah and his insistance on braving illness and panic rather than allow himself to be protected. He opens the door and looks out.]

It appears that it's currently safe.

[Kobra grabs his hand again as he slips out the door.]

Okay, we can totally do this. I promised Lydia.

[If they were quick and quiet, it was only a few minutes. They could do this. Kobra is used to hiding and sneaking and Daneel is just made of magic.]

[He holds Kobra's hand tightly, drawing him along behind him.]

We will make it. Have no fear.

[He has to believe that, or else there's no point at all. He moves as quickly as he dares, all his senses alert for anything out of the ordinary. At the first sign of anything, he'll drag Kobra into the nearest building. He'll pick him up and carry him, if necessary.]

[Which would be interesting, because Kobra's pretty much thinking the same thing. If there's trouble, he's getting them both out of it. Self-sacrificing bullshit is for the movies.]

I know.

[He squeezes Daneel's hand as they creep along the eerily quiet street. Things are knocked over, but it doesn't look like there are any wolves in the immediate vicinity. He's thankful for that as they near the fountain and he can see their house. Lydia and Poison should be there and Kurt and Kenzi are safely inside their own places. Once he and Dan are, too, he'll be able to breath easier.]

[The house is in sight, and it's the most relieving thing Daneel could envision. He pulls Kobra up to the door, and guides them both inside. Kobra is safe: injured, but safe. He has a sense of having done his duty properly. All will be well. It remains to check on Lydia, to assuage her worries, but everything is going to be fine.]

I am beginning to think that for the time being travelling alone is unwise.

[Kobra doesn't drop his hand until the door is closed and locked and then he runs his hand through his hair.]

Fuck that. I'm just staying inside unless someone's in trouble. As long as Kurt and V are okay and Kenzi's with her housemates, everyone else who matters is right here.

I disagree, Kobra. I would be grieved if anyone were to be seriously injured. I am still very glad to have you and Lydia safe, though.

[He feels more than a little responsible for them. They are his friends, and he wants, needs to take care of them.]

Do you want something to drink? You may have lost fluids.

[And that's exactly why Kobra wouldn't tell Daneel if someone else needed help, but if he did go out there, Kobra wouldn't let him go alone.]

Yeah, I'll grab some water. [He heads to the kitchen with a grin.] I am not going to get sick of running water.
